I’d like to see swing state AZ Senator Astronaut Mark Kelly as the VP. He has the ultra cool smart military navy fighter astronaut factor (plus twin brother was an astronaut as well), and can advocate for VA, military funding, military families, NASA, climate change. Being a border state Senator he knows first hand about the immigration issues and could work with that, including coordination with military. Since his wife former Rep. Gabby Giffords was shot in the brain at a political event, he’s a great advocate for gun reform. Good luck to Trump running against an astronaut whose wife got shot worse than he did.

Cheney never wanted to be president, and ruled it out early. Paul Ryan and Sarah Palin also didn't run for president after being on the losing tickets in 2012 and 2008. That's not limited to winning tickets, either, because Bob Dole was a VP pick and he ran in 1988 and 1996.

Joy isn't totally wrong. Having a VP candidate on the ticket doesn't guarantee a state, which some of them said, but it can help on the margins. In a close election, it can make a difference if that candidate is well-liked. If you didn't have to calculate such things, I would pick Pete Buttigieg, but we know that some people would reject the ticket just because he's openly gay. A sad truth. I mean, maybe it could work, but it is a gamble.

If she picks Shapiro, she’ll lose Young, Muslim and Arab voters. Could cost her Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin (heaviest uncommitted voters on this issue 20%).
