David, an 18 year old waitress in a restaurant said that she was voting this year for the first time, “Tell me, who should I vote for president?” She said that I know Trump did a lot and Biden just sits behind his desk! - I was surprised at her reaction when I told her about the many things Biden has done, she was in shock! Example: Job numbers, almost 17 million compared to Trump’s job numbers, almost 3 million, and many other things: Chips Act, infrastructure and etc. - I told her that she has less freedom now than her mother! - It implies that some people don’t do any homework at all when it comes to voting, and that some succumb to the loudest voices, the biggest lies, and what or who grabs their attention the most. 😮 God, help us!
Same exact situation with my father. Despite being a center-leftist, he’s become convinced that Biden has done absolutely nothing for the country. I had to remind him (yes I’ve done this more than once) of what Biden has done during his presidency, only for him to pivot “yeah but Biden is old”. A lot of the points he tried to bring up were right-wing talking points. What I’m saying here is that the right seem to project a much louder voice (facts be damned) than the left, especially when it comes to short, bite-sized content on the internet, which typically exclude all sorts of context and circumstances. It’s all about the messaging and getting the word out in this day and age…
same exact situation with my father. Despite being a center-leftist, he's become convinced that biden has done absolutely nothing. I had to remind him (yes I've done this multiple times) of what kinds of policies he passed and what he's done to provide for the common wealth, such as the student loan debt forgiveness, lowering drug prices, allow negotiation with drug companies for lower prices, record-breaking job growth, stabilizing inflation rates, etc etc. He'd often pivot to saying "yeah but biden is old", completely forgetting what trump has done, such as inciting violence in multiple occasions, his criminal trials, indictments, etc etc, along with other right-wing talking points. What I'm trying to say here is that left-wing messaging dwarfs right-wing messaging by a landslide, especially when it comes to reaching less engaged voters. That's why more people know biden as being "senile" than trump being a criminal and other things...
It doesn't help that our country prioritizes work over everything. She probably has to work so much on top of school that the odds would be she cannot be that knowledgeable.
@@names_are_uselessBetter propaganda? Have you not heard media call Trump Hitler, a dictator, fascist. A threat to democracy? Or have you been burying you head in the sand, when the say that?
When you look at the stark similarities between what Hitler said and did coming to power to Trump, then it's irresponsible to *NOT* call Trump a fascist...

You mean like in 2020? It's amazing how they refused to believe the results but somehow miraculous trump still left office. It probably won't happen again.
David, the best explanation I heard was the Secret Service were in charge of the immediate area and long distance and local police had mid-range, as in near the outside perimeter. Once the shooter was seen, the delay in responding was because of the communication gap between local law enforcement and the Secret Service. Each one had to relay transmissions to a go-between which took time.
Well it is two sides with very different ideas and little in common we can't run from that. They only way to avoid using that rhetoric is to unify the parties which in today's political climate there's just no way, and the voters being to one extreme or the other today doesn't help the situation. I understand that's not everyone but it's a significant amount now than what it was.
@@trentonsellers7600 "voters being to one extreme or the other", you believe democrats and their voters are extreme - the party is barely "left"? Can you elaborate on the apparent _extremism?_ I suppose it would have to be the cranky polar opposite to Q-Anon, Project 2025, executing drug dealers, great replacement theory, etc etc.
@@jackjude first thanks for engaging in peaceful discourse and debate vs just hatred. Im a political student and democratic team/solo debater with a record of 63-2 I'll be happy to elaborate. We all know what the extremist right is, its a very ugly, nasty and violent world that has no place in democracy nor America with genuine caring human beings, thats first of all. The extremist left would be things like extreme feminist who think men are absolutely useless and serve no purpose, it would be parts of the lgbtq community for example having sex and being fully naked in the literal street at pride parades which happens at alot of them but not most, canceling people for things they said years upon years ago when they were very young and not really capable of rational thought due to lack of world experience so they should be canceled now for something they said then, self diagnosing themselves with several mental health conditions that real people are suffering everyday with that you would need medical diagnostic testing for, me too movement complaints that were just bad dates vs actual assaults and some even completely fabricating entire stories of assaults in court and were disproven, completely not even acknowledging they are human beings and identifying as literal animals and changing their full appearance to be that, parts of blm that burned down businesses and riot, these are just some examples I can go further about other really important leftist movements and ideas that some took to the very extreme and now alot of the world just sees what started as great movements as a joke now because of it, but the reality is our extreme is nothing like the right, who are truly horrible people and have very inhumane ways of doing things, it's two completely different extremes for two different parties and I think you have to acknowledge there's alot of people especially millennials and younger like my generation gen z that take great concepts to extreme lengths on our side as well and you have to be able to say that to keep things honest, the thing is like I said it's two very different extremes and that's what I meant. Hope I explained well.
You cannot compare Hitler and Trump at this point and time, because Hitler caused the death of 12 million people and survived at least 39 assassination attempts. However, I have to admit that there are undeniably personal and political similarities between the two politicians and if you Americans vote for Trump you will have possibly the opportunity to see for yourselves how this develops. I would strongly suggest to avoid that. Worried greetings from Germany
Dude are you high? The only thing that is similar are that both are nationalists and don't want their country over run by outsiders. Other similarities on the country aspect is the tsar Russia got flooded by outsiders and overtaken. The difference between that Russia and WW2 Germany is Russia ended in a civil conflict and and Germany tried to get rid of the issue cause they saw what happened to the tsars. But the rest of the world wouldn't let them get rid of the issue. What's happening right now in the US? Were getting flooded and they want a voice. There's 3 options USA has. Get rid of the issue, keep letting them in and get civil conflict or 3 deal with who's here and stop letting them in.

@@jerrypeal653 Jerry, in times like these it's really important not to jump to conclusions and start allocating responsibility and blame before all the facts are known. Without that basic discipline, everyone in this overheated political atmosphere will conclude whatever fits their own particular favoured emotional narrative, conspiracy theory or ideology. The only really reliable way to get to the truth is to put one's immediate feelings on the back burner so as not to narrow one's mind too soon and and cloud one's judgement. You don't have to write your feelings off, but you do need to detach emotionally from them. Just because something FEELS like the truth (to you, or to me, or to Jim Wotsit down the road) doesn't mean it necessarily IS the truth. Hunches can be one part of the investigation, but only one part. Many an innocent has been found guilty of a crime because someone had a hunch and police only pursued that one line of inquiry, dismissing vital clues that would have revealed the true story. It's not that serious when you think about it. There always has been and always will be a back in our leadership. We have periods with democratic leadership and periods of Republican leadership. And that's not really a bad thing. It's important that people with different beliefs than our own have their turn. Get your facts straight so you wont look like idi0t :) Trump was already president for 4 years and his policies bore no resemblance to those of Hitler, so this makes no sense. In fact, with the Abraham Accords, he made some progress towards peace in the Middle East, which was definitely not high on Hitler's agenda.

It appears that the overuse of sarcasm and facetious remarks has left the USA in a conundrum of word salat where people don’t understand the intention of the speaker.
Thank you David for continuing to be a calm voice of reason in crazy times. One thing though: I'm not sure we can assume the shooter's Republican credentials were genuine. Yes, it appears he did register as a Republican but then, following Jan 6, someone by his name from Pittsburgh gave a small donation to a progressive PAC. I'm still not clear which Thomas Crooks was the donor. However, a lot of people are pointing out that at some point there was a suggestion that Democrats should enrol as Republicans en masse so they could vote in Republican primaries for candidates that might be weaker, or otherwise somehow benefit the left. We know the shooter voted in the 2022 mid-terms. I don't think we know enough yet to be able to completely rule out the possibility that he was following that suggestion to register as Republican, while in reality identifying as a Democrat. I'm not pushing this or any other theory, just saying nothing is completely clear yet regarding his political affiliations, opinions and possibly confused state of mind that may have led him to commit this thoroughly un-democratic atrocity.
How about the constant calling is facists, racists, calling trump hitler. Yes trump spewed venom but your side spewed the same venom.
