I had 2 miscarriages in the 90’s. One before a healthy baby and one after. It is horrible news for any family as many of you know. I asked my doctor if I had to have the D&C the 2nd time as I had just started a new job and frankly didn’t want to answer questions about needing to take off. She told me the risk of hemorrhaging was real and could be life threatening and if that wasn’t the case, it could damage me to where I would be unable to try again. Now in 2024, we have women that either can’t get this care or are questioned as if they are to blame. No longer is America top in healthcare,freedom and human rights. If you are living in America and pregnant with a girl, she has more rights in the womb than after she is born.

Even if a woman miscarries a fetus, a D&C (abortion) is needed to remove any debris left behind. If this is not done, she could develop sepsis, which is life-threatening. Those states that ban abortion could prevent this life-saving treatment.

If we had an endless amount of money to spend on ads I'd say yes play these in the South, but the southern states seem to be blood red Republicans. They hate democrats even though we are doing more to help them then their Republican representatives/governors/state legislatures are doing for them. They vote against their own interest. Play these ads in the states that will have reproductive healthcare on their ballots. I'm voting Biden/Blue all the way down the ballot. They work for the regular people. Making it illegal to murder a child is no more controlling a woman's body than making it illegal to murder an innocent 40 year old standing on a street corner is . The only other countries besides the Democrats in the united states to legalize selective abortion all the way up to birth is atheist humanist North Korea , atheist humanist china. I’m child-free by choice but I don’t have the right to decide whether someone else should abort a pregnancy,regardless of their situation. I was beyond ecstatic when the Supreme Court’s ruling to legalize abortion was ratified in 1973,and I wasn’t even old enough to have to choose between the two options-adoption or abortion. As a woman who has a family history of “female problems “, I am fortunate to have had my hysterectomy done without the government sticking its nose in my private health issues!!! The ad shown, I feel, doesn't stress enough how important abortions can be to save the life of the mother. Hopefully, they have more women lined up in these ads, with more life-threatening cases, like miscarriages where the dead fetus remains in the body etc... Heck, they should have OB/GYN testimonials that say something like "I have to study medicine to treat women, but politicians want to treat you without any medical knowledge". All I'm saying is that the ads could be harder hitting. There's plenty of nutcases that would say "Just give birth to your f-ed up baby and let it die the way God intended it to die, what's the big deal?"

Her situation was very like my own. I wanted the child, but it was only going to end the same as my first pregnancy, with the fetus dying slowly in utero around the 5th month. After much prayer and self-examination, the understanding of the process the first had suffered taught me the kindness of early termination.

The exam rooms are too small now - in iowa they are now big enough to include the governor, AG, senate, congress and SCOTUS to tell the mother/families what is the best thing for them to do as it should be. The doctor needs to wait in the hall - totally unqualified to make these decisions along with the mother. They have turned sacred life and your relationship with god into a legal obligation and they don't see the irony. Vote them out of the exam room AND church/religion. They just want workers/consumers to keep the economy growing and to destroy the planet in the process.

My partner got sick at the beginning of the pandemic when refrigerator trucks full of bodies were lined up outside of New York hospitals. He was too scared to go to the emergency room and died of a treatable illness. I will NEVER forget that Donald Trump's response to the pandemic killed my partner. NEVER.

It might be a good time to point out that two red states, Kansas and Ohio, with Republican legislatures and Republican governors have already decided to keep abortion legal in their states. Florida is set to vote in November, and I expect most red states will be true to their word and let the people decide the issue. The question is, once all the red states have voted and abortion is legal in every state, what issue with the Democrats come up with next?

Trump didn't "ban abortion." He just appointed Supreme Court justices who helped return the issue to the states so Republican legislators there could do it, then signaled that he'll sign a federal ban if Congress passes one. That lets him avoid responsibility for the inevitable negative consequences while getting credit with his congregation, er, his base.
