He would've made some coin, for sure, but I kind of think he'll garner more fame and recognition this way. I had never heard of Gillis until his firing. As soon as I heard SNL fired a new guy for A JOKE, I knew I had to find his stuff. If Shane were on with the current cast, 1) he couldn't singlehandedly make the show watchable 2) he probably wouldn't get much air time 3) he probably wouldn't get the exposure to the type of fan that likes him. I think this is one of those times that a door closed, but the path opened for him was better.

So fucking cool that Rogan showed some love today. Shane’s a funny guy who got a raw deal on the SNL shit. This will be better in the long run anyway. Hopefully maybe he’ll actually have them on now and really get this channel some much needed attention. Nobody makes solid comedy movies or shows anymore it’s all just stand up. With money and resources these guys can put together a Chappelle Show quality sketch show and that would be great for everyone.
