We need restrictions on demand in general. Get rid of the approved 40 year mortgages, get rid of the approved down payment assistance, kick private companies out of the market place and take restrictions off of builders. It would also help to see some sort of incentive on building smaller starter homes. Maybe less of a sales tax on homes sold under 200k.
Do you suggest all companies be barred or just up to a certain size? There's also wealthy individuals who own more land than entire rental companies could afford. Should we have a limit on how much land a single citizen can own? Not trying to be confrontational just curious where in specific you stand on the issue.
As someone in their 20’s with a young family I am tired of paying 2,200 a month just to rent. It’s more than my mom’s mortgage and she has a four bedroom house. It’s ridiculous.

It may be an unfathomable thought that people might be struggling to pay the outrageous prices on everything between bread or eggs to housing. I hope you are never down on your luck because you have some growing up to do
Pretty sad when individuals making $100k can’t afford even a small condo. $100k feels like poverty and only 20% of americans even earn that. Cost of living is out of control.
Bro i live with my parents help pay some bills but still reduce potential expensas if i lived alone and i still end up low in cash. Grocery prices are insane
As someone who makes $10k more than that with a wife making $70k it feels impossible to own a home. We’re still paying student loans and paying off credit cards but even if I were debt free it would be difficult to get $20k down. Yeah I could get an fha but I’d be paying $5k a month on a small condo.
It’s mostly gen z and millennials who can’t afford the house, because of draconian land use regulations. They need to deregulate, and reform the laws to make it work.
I’m sick of trying to survive at 35 years old, not being able to afford food for me, my husband, and my child. At this age, according to the American Dream, I should have been freaking successful, have a house with a white picket fence, with the only worry when my next dental appointment would be. I’m so tired of renting. I want a house. I can’t even get into school. And this is after signing up for FASFA, WIC, and SNAP. I’m covered by the government because I’m darn near poverty level. I didn’t ask for this, you can bet your rear I worked to try and succeed in life. It just wasn’t in the cards for me and I’m tired. So very, very tired. I don’t want to survive, I want to live. I don’t want to be in government programs, I want to be self-sufficient and take care of myself and my family. What am I supposed to do as a housewife fighting for an ‘at home’ job and a husband who makes $1200 a month working for the school district? We don’t want to put our daughter in daycare, we chose to homeschool because the schools are awful-I know this after spending a decade working in classrooms. I just… I don’t know what to do. I’m uninsured, gaining weight every day, depressed, brain fogged. I feel like a shell of a human who knows deep down that something went wrong. I want a house and I want good schools and I want a job.
Me and my wife are going through the same thing. Two parent two kid household, both of us work full time and are still struggling, on government assistance and still stuck with our heads held under water.
But, you can't blame the external problems without blaming yourself first, but you made it very clear in your statement that you have to take care of your husband and son? Yeah, the only problem is that this is a widely DEMOCRATIC plan and is thus voted against by the very people who would benefit from it because they've been told LIES by right wing media. Or perhaps you could name ONE piece of GOP legislation (other than tax cuts which just add to debt) that has objectively benefited a large portion of the American populace? I mean Obamacare got millions insured. Biden's CHIP act is making sure we have critical infrastructure domestically. What's the GOP plan for inflation, healthcare, education, wages, public safety and the border? CRICKETS from the GOP. NO PLANS WHATSOEVER. Good luck running on "I AM BEING TREATED MEAN!" you buncha pansies.
Look at compensation vs production since the era of Reagan. The REASON people can't afford a home is that wages have STAGNATED since Reagan. Had I been able to earn the same increasing wages my parents had, I would have earned almost a million dollars more over my lifetime. REPUBLICANS LET CORPORATIONS EXPLOIT THEIR LABOR AND SEND THEIR JOBS OVERSEAS. LOOK AT THE REAL ESTATE IN YOUR AREA FROM The 80's VS what it costs now. Then factor in inflation over the last 40 years and you get and idea of WHO IS TAKING ALL THE MONEY. Do the same thing with healthcare.
My parents gave me their old house free of charge when I was 24. They bought it for 500k no money down. Now it’s valued at just under a million right here in San Diego 😊

Homebuilder here. The same floor plan is currently $80,000 to $100,000 more expensive right now than it was when Trump was president. If he could slash those interest rates way down, I have calculated it'll have a impact on 27 different industries related to home building. The possibility of getting home prices down by $100,000 could actually happen.
Prices are gonna drop and established firm owners (and property, factory, business etc) will retain their new rates and reap the difference. Trickle down won’t happen even if trump executes his promises flawlessly

Living is unaffordable even at the lowest level... For a single person on a sole income, it is not possible to qualify and afford even a single bedroom studio apartment, it is beyond ridiculous and disheartening, I often ponder suicidal thoughts due to the ever rising cost of living and inflation. @@umberto488 lol...Trump did not make anyone more hateful. Its the left and mainstream media that are dividing the country. The democrat talking heads online, the media and in office just say trump is being hateful when its them who are. Projection. There is an anti-christian, anti-white/jewish, anti-capitalist and downright racist 'equity' ideology deeply rooted in the democrat party and many of their supporters today. Not to mention actually wanting to implement widespread socialist policies in government like free education and health care. That is not normal, democrats didn't believe that just 20 years ago. They changed and republicans have stayed the same as 20 years ago. That is the source of the division and will continue to get worse until democrats smarten up and abandon the radical beliefs they've adopted and moderate their views. What you're saying is like if the republican party changed views and decided a large chunk of them wanted to abolish 90% of government support programs like medicaid, medicare, abortion, welfare, etc., reintegrate the church with the state and force everyone to learn and adhere by the rules of Christianity, and also they decided that they're just going to protest, openly attack and promote hate against whites who marry outside their race or anyone who marries outside Christianity. Then a democrat president comes along who disagrees, calls it out, represents the other side and then you say that democrat has 'made people more hateful towards each other'. Then you wonder why we're divided. Its the same radical change that conservatives STRONGLY object to that the left is promoting in their mainstream policy and candidates now. Until the democrats change, the division will get worse. Conservatives don't need to change, they're mostly the same as they were 20-30 years ago.
