High-quality MP3: www.contrebomba...
David Johnson's Trumpet Tune in D Major is an energetic piece written in baroque style. Thanks to it's roots in the English school of organ building, the Haverhill OIC sample set renders this piece beautifully. The tuba on this organ is stunning, and this piece showcases it effectively.
The extended version of the Haverhill OIC sample set is used in this video. The original instrument is 3-manuals with 42 stops. The extended set has 4-manuals (the solo reeds may be played with a solo manual) with 59 stops. David Butcher from Lavender Audio made some very thoughtful additions in the extended set.

The organist has this virtual pipe organ in his home. What's to come of all those days and nights of shivering in a cold auditorium trying to practice? This is a sweet setup!

I love this song! I grew up listening to it every Sunday morning on a local radio show that played religious and choral music called "With Heart and Voice." For some reason it always brings me to tears every time I hear it., this time was no exception! Awesome job performing!

When I moved to West Michigan in the mid 1980s, on Sunday mornings there was a wonderful radio program on WBLV-FM. Called "With Heart and Voice," it followed "Pipe Dreams" and opened with this song. I still remember its opening: "This is With Heart and Voice, and I'm Richard Gladwell, your host." Even though Mr. Gladwell passed away in 2009, I'll never forget the radio program he started. Thank you for performing this song, and in so doing flooding me with wonderful memories.

I've played this video recording three times this morning. What a grand organ work and so authoritatively played by Rob Stefanussen. Like other Commentators here, I was introduced to this piece listening to the syndicated program "With Heart and Voice" played on Sunday mornings on what was then my regional classical FM station from Interlochen, Michigan. I am challenging European organists on YT to record this piece from their recital halls.

@Tombo5150 Classic Midi Works (Google it) do Pedalboards, Manuals, Keycheeks, Benches, Swell Shoes, Console Tables, Midi Interfaces and more. Basically, the sell everything you need to get a Hauptwerk console up and running, but they are expensive. Their manuals have combination pistons on them, but they are unlabeled. I think Rob used a label maker on his organ. Hope this helped Brendan

I am a huge fan of the organ voluntaries (Trumpet Tunes) of David N Johnson. I came to them via the “Organ Fireworks” CDs by Chris Herrick on Hyperion. It’s a shame the scores are hard to find in the UK; but it’s good to hear a good performance by Rob Stefanussen. Even if it’s not a proper organ ;-)

What a glorious sound! Playing is measured and masterly. I live near Dundee, Scotland, which boasts the magnificent Caird Hall Harrison & Harrison concert pipe organ, reputedly the finest example in the UK. This sound reminds me very much of it - deep 32 ft. open wood rolling bass notes and lively chorus reeds. Wonderful! Thank you for uploading it.

Its thrilling to me being so fortunate to have worked for Dr. Virgil Fox for 17 years and to have heard so many great instruments,to now see the serious positiv important development of electronic instruments. They have come so far , in this case David, your artistry is worthy of praise. I am subscribing and look forward to more of your work. In what I hear, I believe part of the success is the speaker quality which will make or break the success of the final outcome of tone. Blessings t you

Had no idea how much power and memory was needed to run these samples! i7, 32G RAM, dual RAID 15K RPM drives, etc. for the full reverb and complete sample waveforms. Good job on your rig! You play well. For those of you out there that want to do this hobby, save well over $10K for a well-appointed setup. Organ samples can go well over $700 each.

I accompanied Dr Virgil Fox with whom I was working, two times when he went to the Tabranacle Organ where we shared quality time with Dr. Frank Asper. The next day as his guest we enjoyed meeting President and Mrs Joseph Fielding Smith who at that time were standing against possibly seriously rebuilding the instrument. They all spoke for quite awhile about the matter. If you care to communicate,I have other memories and stories about the organ and its builder.

As a 'purist' listener it took me quite a while to reconcile myself to the introduction of electronics into the grand arena of pipes and wind. Allen have done a superb job over the years by using samples rather than electronic tone simulation. So, even though I'm listening to this excellent work by Johnson through speakers, it's obvious that this virtual organ is a quality piece of work and well used by its owner :)

Love it! Good feel, right tempo and the organ, well it's not a Conn Classic, but she'll do. Maybe I am in a minority by preferring baroque style be played on a Conn, but there are tones in the Conn Classic that hearkens to a time centuries before. Centuries before electronics for that matter, but it works! I can't explain it, it just works> Listen to 'Paul Mickelson Conn Classic '. Hauptwerk really needs to offer Conn, Wurlitzer, Gulbransen, etc. electronic classical & theater organs.

Must be nice. In all the parishes I have played in, NONE of them had a pipe organ - and last December it's been 36 years straight. A few had a decent Rodgers or Baldwin; most, I'm afraid had funeral parlor reject organs - all little twerpy spinets that weren't suitable for worship in any church. When I die, I truly feel like I should get a soild gold pipe organ in heaven - and no matter how many "boo-boo's" I make, it all ways sound perfect!

It is indeed the theme to the "With Heart and Voice" show. I don't like the newest rendition of it as recorded by the present host (David DuBois) as played on a Casavant instrument. The British organ the former host used, Richard Gladwell was much nicer, IMHO.
