Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video of the Santa CAT I'm still in the process of completing it properly. Stay tuned, the video featuring the finished Tomcat will be coming soon!…. Greetings
Thank you so much, Luis! I good to see you back! :) really appreciate your kind words and am thrilled that you enjoyed the weathering on the VF-103 Jolly Rogers. Weathering is such a crucial aspect of bringing authenticity and character to a model, and I'm glad to hear that you liked the approach I took with it. Stay tuned for more exciting projects, and thank you for your ongoing support! Best regards, CapLagos
Thank you so much for your generous support! I:) truly appreciate your kind gesture of gifting $2 for my SantaCat Tomcat video.
Thank you for your comment David! While VF-84 was indeed known as the Jolly Rogers, VF-103 also adopted the Jolly Rogers insignia during its deployment aboard the USS Enterprise in December 1996. This unique iteration, often referred to as the "Santa Cat," pays homage to VF-103's temporary adoption of the Jolly Rogers insignia. I appreciate your interest in the historical context of the aircraft and hope you enjoyed the video! Best regards, CapLagos
@@CapLAGOS Thanks for the update. I am a huge fan of Naval and Marine Corps aviation. I was a CH-46E crewchief in the Marine Corps back in the 80's. I am also a huge WW2 aviation fan.
VF-84 dates back to World War 2. I believe they flew F4-U Corsairs. There was also a B-24 Liberator squadron ( Pacific theater) that had the skull and cross bones on their tails. Except the cross bones were crossed bombs. I don't remember which branch of service this squadron belonged to. Take care.
@@davidcovarubias4729 Thank you for sharing your background and passion for Naval and Marine Corps aviation, as well as your interest in WW2 aviation! It's fascinating to hear about your experiences as a CH-46E crewchief in the Marine Corps during the 80s. You're absolutely correct that VF-84 has a rich history dating back to World War 2, where they indeed flew F4-U Corsairs. The squadron you mentioned with the skull and crossbones on their tails, featuring crossed bombs, was likely the 11th Bombardment Squadron, part of the 7th Bombardment Group in the Pacific theater. Your knowledge adds depth to our appreciation of aviation history. Thank you for your service, and take care as well! Best regards,Caplagos
@@CapLAGOS I think I was 12 when I first saw "12:00 High" with Gregory Peck, been hooked ever since. My wish is to fly in the last flyable B-24J Liberator, my favorite aircraft. The B-17 gets all the glory. I saw the B-17 used in "Memphis Belle" when she was here in San Diego. Memphis Belle was a B-17F. The aircraft in the movie was a G model. I knew this because I noticed the two mounts where the chin turret was. Plus on reading the bio this aircraft was manufactured in May of 1945. I mentioned this too a couple of the crew and they were impressed, said no one had ever noticed that. I wanted to be a pilot but I didn't have 20/20 uncorrected vision. So I went enlisted as an avionicsman, got orders for 46's out of "A" school, got stationed at Tustin, Ca. Cool because I am from L.A. I told my commanding officer that I wanted to fly and that I wanted to be a crewchief. But I was in the wrong M.O.S. Crewchiefs are mechanics. I told my C.O. that I would crosstrain as a mechanic. The rest is history. Take care.
