The title of this, just wow! I feel like there is a cosmic entity/ universal deity and it does or allows things to happen to us. My dog was battling cancer and a few weeks before I lost him, I found a duck egg in the lawn. Just laying in the grass with no nest around. I took it home and put it in the incubator. A few weeks go by and I lost my dog. It hit hard and I could barely get out of bed. Four days after my dog passed, the duckling hatched. Rather than continue to mope around and sleep all day, I had to care for a baby duckling, which is like caring for a toddler, so it was very good for me.
When faced with something where you feel you don't know what to do. Simply wait and see what happens. You will see the universe take care of it as Alan is talking about. The trick is to realise that the universe takes care of everything whether you think it does or not. Brilliant mind Mr Watts. An important book to read is making sense of nonsense by Raymond Moody. @philv2529 it is thank you, and it is working out really well. It is called getting out of your own way. The more we try to control a situation, the less control we actually have. It is about recognising that you don't have control of anything really, and all the trying you are doing is just making things difficult. It's great to interact with you ❤️ 🙏RW
@philv2529 I believe you've misinterpreted his idea. It seems you think he means that you should just give up on making decisions (which is impossible in itself) and blunder through life assuming God has your back. But that ain't it, he isn't saying to abandon decisions. When he says "wait and see what happens", that INCLUDES what YOU do. He's saying that if you align yourself with the universe, trust in God, abandon fear and live in love, it actually becomes literally impossible to make the wrong decision. Hell, at that point, even the term "wrong" becomes abstract.
@saschacory2301 I think it is more a case of I am not explaining it well. Forgive me. Of course, decisions are still taken/made, but an enlightened soul recognises that it is not controlling the situation and accepts whatever is happening as meant to be happening. This is also known as the peace of God that passes all understanding. I am sorry if I have caused confusion and if the above makes it less clear. I still believe Alan was advocating surrender to what is, but your understanding is your own and, of course, absolutely correct for you. Love and wisdom to you and your family. RW

Yes it would be great to have such spiritual/metaphysical masters guide us through these times. Dr. Joseph Murphy and Neville Goddard were two other masters. There is a Canadian author who has written two books about the times we are living now. One is called “What the hell is going on” and the other is “The way forward”. I’ve just started the first one and loving it so far. He gives a spiritual perspective as well as giving a look at how we got here. Blessings

I think it would be helpful and even essential as a matter of spiritual integrity to document the original source of this audio. So very few people Have any awareness or appreciation of how far back these ideas began. There are I believe at least a couple of archives of Alan Watts' lectures that were recorded between 1959 and the 1970s. Please give your listeners the courtesy of this historical context thank you

I am a person who trusts my thinking very much and no need for suggesting otherwise it's matter of choice principals and how I choose to exist. Maybe I'll watch with a different changed mind another time. But it's not this day.
Yes. This kind of philosophy is for the privileged. It has no moral implications or take discrimination such as colour, sex, disability, social class etc in consideration. That is why it is not capable to stand as truth, although it is true from his perspective. My freedom and transformation comes from critical observation and self inquiry. I tend to find different answers than Alan 😄
Me too, but I found that I'm not a victim to anyone but myself because I saw and felt the red flags and chose to ignore my own first intuition, that's when the hurt comes every time. Acknowledging the truth of other ppl immediately saves us
@@karencoates1964 sorry I will clarify. I have been to the point of no desire. It was pure hell & darkness. I'm out of that now and 100% desire desire now. Never want to be in the space of being desireless ever again.

@@game-devin see last response. Also Alan W is teaching from heresay, not from experience. I teach that the lack of certain desires could be good depending on many factors. Having no desire in this realm is not something I would wish upon anyone.
Remember this mindset the mindset of love and wellness for all things is the CHRIST mindset. Christ is a mindset meaning a State of consciousness. This is what Jesus was explaining. We are all God‘s energy. Jesus was the same energy. This entire concept is a great threat to the power and control the religious entities and churches have. This concept is true freedom from bondage
This can only come from someone who has had a secure and protected existence. if you grow up in poverty or endure physical abuse, neither "God" not the "universe" give you what you need.
What God gives is only salvation and nothing else. It is our own karma that returns to us through many lives…and as we experience the returns, we continue to garner more karma by our acts & thoughts. One should be able to accept one’s own karma’s consequences. To ponder and relive this experience is futile. If there is any hope, it is in prayer to Thee to release us from this cycle! 🙏🏽
Alan Watts was a trust fund baby who attended an elite boarding school, was smart enough to get into Oxford (thought he didn't), worked at a bank, married 3 times, and died of alcoholism. He never "let the universe think for him", because that's what magical thinkers religious zealots do. He's happy to pose useless questions to those who will waste time thinking about them.

I trusted the universe and was trafficked. I trusted it later in life, and now I'm more equipped to help people deal with hardship than i could've possibly imagined
