After 3.5K hrs on MnK made the swap to controller 1.5months ago, one thing I enjoy with controller is there’s no crazy warmup needed. Or I don’t need to play 1-2 hrs to actually feel my aim to be on point. Also long 10+hr sessions just easier with controller just cuz the consistency with close range fights.

After putting my steam controller settings to my preferences let’s say I can insta holster without holding triangle has been such a game changer. Hmm I'm about halfway through the video but one thing I'm hearing is an excessive focus on the skill component of aiming (which makes sense, its the thing we can change the most).. but I think there is an (small) argument for tools being important too - objectively there must be a mouse sense that an individual is better with due to an individual's physiological differences. Maybe there are injuries that mean you can't use your wrist like you can use your elbow, so you have to use a slower sense, and it can take time to dial that in.. and that small piece of truth might be the root of people getting stuck on the tool portion of good aim instead of focusing on the skill portion they can improve more on. Just my thought, maybe you'll cover this further in. Edit: covered about 5 minutes later

This is dope!!! Loved this! But two things: 1) I ask about mouse sens and dpi a lot because it helps me understand someone’s gameplay. For example, gruic plays at .5 on 1600 dpi, despite moving like faide at 1.8, meaning that gruic is SWIPING his shit. But also explains a lot of his highly controlled moments and how he often seems to swap between fast and smooth as if he uses mouse acceleration. Speaking of mouse accel, lamic is on like .1 on like 16000 dpi but uses a custom raw accel curve. Which can be seen displayed mostly with his fence placement. I don’t use that info to know what to pick for myself, but it helps understand what settings they have chosen to maximize their playstyle. 2) playing for the win sounds like a very casual player. Only group I’ve ever heard it from tbh. And if someone plays for the win, and thats where they get the most success from, I see no reason as to why they shouldn’t do that. Not everyone wants to play videogames at a more than casual level, and I think creators shouldnt look down on casual play and casual tactic, and instead adopt a more encouraging and inviting rhetoric on how they want the game to be played. I think that will yeld better results for individuals and a more well rounded community in the long run. All in all tho super dope talk please release more!

In high school my Lacrosse coach would always preach to the team it’s not the wand it’s the magician. Kids would always change their shooting strings or sticks aka peripherals, equal to a mouse or mousepad or sense in this case, when in reality it’s the skill of being able to pass, catch, shoot, defend. They obviously all relate and impact each other to a degree but it’s important you practice the skills necessary and the rest kind of supplements or tunes to your liking. It’s not the wand it’s the magician.

@law0fsurprise868

In some cases a better computer that provides higher fps might fix bad fundamentals/habits/placebos. For example; I have played no-fill apex as an advanced movement player who can do all fancy stuff with 100% consistency such as all type of bunny hop-lurch-shooting, all type of mantle jumping, all type of directional supergliding, ghost jumping etc. The problem is; my aim is getting worse while doing those movement techs. But let's say I don't do any movement, let's say I just strafe left and right and shoot the enemy, then my aim is very good. You might think it's a skill issue that I need to fix. But that would be wrong. Its been 2 years I've been playing on between 60 to 100 fps on a potato pc. Averaging 60 to 70 fps in World's Edge Fragment buildings, which is my home. I'm not kidding when I say this, Fragment feels home to me more than my actual home irl due to how much time I spent in those buildings lol. I assure you, I am not your casual player who whines and cries over not getting good. I played this game everyday wholeday. I gave it my soul. At the end of everyday I watched my own daily 2hr+ gameplay recordings to spot my own mistakes and I made sure that I do not make those mistakes again. Please, whatever you say, but do not say that I need to get good. I can not get good anymore, because there is no more room to improve(there will only be more room to get better if I start to play on higher fps) It took 2 years of hard training to accept the truth that it was LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE for an ultra-fast-pace movement player to play on this much low fps and have good aim while doing movement. It's an fps game and you simply just need fps especially if you're flicking hard and doing advanced movements that require flicking. I know most of you will want to say "bruh there are people playing well on 60 fps with insane aim." Yeap, I agree. But none of them is using advanced movement. Doing a simple fatigue bounce and killing an enemy is not advanced movement. Go watch Xzylas or Movementless if you want to see true advanced movement. Consider this long comment as multiple answers to multiple possible questions. I basically answered all the possible stupid questions that might have come from other people.

I’ve played both controller and MNK as a pred every season. Controller definitely has benefits, smooth aim at closer ranges and a more streamlined approach. But MnK in terms of competitive play is king in all honesty. The multiple keys on a keyboard offer a way more control and movement is unmatched. If you’re on aimlabs or R5R as a MnK player and you’re in the accuracy percentile of at LEAST 50% then you’d agree. MnK takes more skill, if you think controller is OP then your MnK mechanics need more work. Really is a skill issue.
@sydual5887

Not sure what you mean by accuracy percentile, but I'm Master's Complete with 2 GM scores on Voltaic Aimlabs and controller still seems OP to me. On R5 my K/D against MnK is 1.04 while it's 0.39 against controller. Top R5 controller players have 40-45% accuracy while MnK have 30-35%. I'm not here to complain since I just care about my own self improvement but not sure how this can be considered a "skill issue". What do you think MnK does well enough that it can overcome the aim discrepancy? Movement? Also that's impressive that you were able to get pred with both MnK and controller!

Nobody uses recoil control that much in apex it’s all about aim smoothing because it negates most of the recoil on any gun If you have literal disabilities so you play controller that’s fine The problem is most of controller players like 90% don’t have disabilities they just use it because it’s easier with the aim assist to kill enemies they don’t have the most important part skill of aim which is tracking because it’s mostly done by AA it’s not your actual thumbs doing the tracking it’s the AA controller players can deny it all they want but it’s already factual that AA is OP close range which is most of the fights you do in apex
@ItsDdvdd
@ItsDdvdd 2 дня назад
Nah man, I think this video applies for controller too. Consider your controller a tool, a very impactful tool. The key thing being that your own aim-skill exists alongside your input. There's a reason professional MnK players can switch to controller and nearly master it in a relatively short amount of time. They accurately identify issues and constantly adjust their own input until they see the result they expect. Controller still has a large skill spectrum, it's just easy to get complacent and plateau when aim assist gives you a false idea of how effective your inputs are.

And of course that comes from ignorant controller player. Hollow is mostly playing pubs so his reasoning comes from that in pubs, ltms etc everything is mostly close range which gives controller player a clear advantage. If you've only played controller (0.6 AA on top of that) its not hard to see why you simply cannot process why MnK players are pissed everytime they die to an AI on supposedly MnK PLATFORM. I mean, if the game did most of the aiming for me i wouldn't bother looking deeper into it either, i'd just feel good about my false superiority, delusionally brag how good i am at the game. Reactivity is the difference between winning and losing a 1v1 so one input being given the hardest part of aim to master is ridiculous. And even if you master reactivity, no human ever will react at 0ms, its humanly impossible.

you will never understand how frustrating it is to play against a controller user until you try it yourself with mnk. Also just interjecting what was said on the video, your tool is an expression of your skill. The fact that aim assist is part of your tool immediately gives you an unfair advantage. Aim assist needs tuning to make it feel more human-like.
