The problem with the rumor machine is most rumor makers do not understand the complexities of the business of making music. Many are spreading rumors about this label or that brand offering to buy the contracts. On the surface, it looks easy. Spend a lot of money, and they sign. But in fact there is nothing easy about it. There are copyrights, distribution rights, and a lot of other things to think of. We now know there is a lot of already recorded but not released music done by BlackPink and each of the members. Distribution rights belong to YGE. But Production rights belong to Teddy, their main producer. Then there is writing rights, and so forth. Then there is the sale of the performance rights of their current book stock of music. If another brand wanted to take over BP, they would have to take over YGE and all the rights YGE holds. Yes, there are some of the people offering that have that ability and the money. But that is a big upfront cost with a long break even point. So, the cost to profit ratio would be very narrow, even with the other established groups and the new groups that are getting ready to debut. YGE is holding a rather large debt right now and looking at making that debt even larger if they try and keep BP and promote Baby Monster. The best choice business wise, is BP signing with Black Label, which I think is a thing that has been in the works for years. Look at the name as the first clue. BlackPink's producer creates a business called Black Label. Someone from BL is at every concert. There are even more things that show this was a long term plan not a we just decided plan. But we will have to wait and see how it all plays out. Oh and no, the Lady's of BP are too aware not to stay together for another at least three years before they go their separate ways. I think once they got as big as they are that was factored into their long term plans.
