No. The whole thing is a misnomer. Latinos are Italians, spaniards, Portuguese etc. Consider this, calling a Castilian or Portuguese speaking, native or afro descendant living in 'latin' America a 'Latino/a' because they speak a Latin-based language, would be akin to calling an Australian aborigine or a New Zealand Maori a Germanic, Germano something or other because they speak a Germanic based langugage (English) or an Anglo something or other because they speak English. It was actually a friend of mine who is 'latino' (but no longer calls himself that) told me that only people who do not know their history or identity would call themselves 'latino'.

@Pedro Stilpen como os EUA recebem muitos imigrantes da América Latina, o termo "latino" passou a ser sinônimo de hispânicos. We (Latins) are very diverse. We share a lot of cultural similarities and lot of differences, and that is precisely the source of our richness. And like any other family, some of us are more alike and some others are different from us, but at the end we shared the same roots and a similar history. We’ve all gained our independence at almost the same time and with the same movement by being united, and also we’ve faced and suffered similar injustices, inequities and oppression, but we’ve managed to overcome it and continue walking with an admirable optimism. Proud to be Latin!
I think calling us "latins" takes away a lot of our originality as countries and cultures if we want more source of richness we should include Europe and Africa as well and why not just call us humans, since we share many similarities after all.

And behind that facade, hides a lot of insecurities, fears and talks about that probably you weren’t treated with love and respect when you were little....how is or was your relationship with your Father....did he treated and treated people with affection and respect? So... you can find a lot of diversity in our country, people with aztec phenotypes, spanish, french or german
@@fabiolucas172 Belice, Guatemala, Honduaras and I think Nicaragua there are african decent that are the Garinagus. Also, I know in Guatemala there is a small percentage of Jamaican decent as well as asian and obviously mayan and Spanish. So my country is quite diverse.
Nice divisions. I support them, they celebrate the difference between us. (Yes, they exist, especially ethnicly speaking). Caribbean, for example, has far more African blood than other parts of Latin America, due to high trade of slaves and sugar, of course.
What really annoys me Is when they refer “Americans” to the people from United States. AMERICA IS A CONTINENT not just one country! Maybe it’s just me but I live in France and every time a French person ask me If I’ve been in “America” (United States) it gets me out of my nerves. I feel like they’re taking our identity as part of a continent. It’s just my opinion
One thing: continents are taught differently in different countries. In the US it's north and south America, in Latin America it's The Americas. Yo entiendo porque nos ponemos defensivos cuando refieran a los estadosunidienses como Americanos, pero si lo piensas, todos los paises tienen nombres "Venezuela, El Salvador, Mexico..." pero los Estados Unidos is just that: "The United States of America" with the word America. Es mas facil decir "American" que "United Statsian" or something. We're all American, that's true, but it's just easier to call people from the US Americans. Many other languages also don't have a name for "estadosunidiense" like in Spanish, so people just go for American.
Miriam Martínez As a person from the USA, I have to say that it’s the rest of the world’s fault that people from this country are called “Americans”. Because that’s what the rest of the world calls us, so it’s what we call ourselves.
Let me ask you this, what do you call Germany in spanish? You call it "Alemania", right? Why not GERMANY? Better yet, why not DEUTSCHLAND, which is what Germans call it? OMG the Germans must be offended that you don't call their country Deutschland!!! You see how stupid your logic is? In English (and many other languages too) calling the USA simply "America" is perfectly accepted. In Spanish it's America, the continent. In English it's North America and South America the continents, and America the country. End of story. There is no problem here.
Merci petite Fleur, enchantés de partager avec vous le Catholicisme, la culture méditerranéenne, la bonne bouffe, la langue d'origine romance (près du Français) et l'esprit ouvert, chaleureux et hospitalier.
I'm so white, polar bears use me for camouflage. Anyway, I dated a Mexican chick, and early on, she asked me if I ever dated a Latina before. I said, " No. Is there a difference?" She said, "Oh yes....the passion..." This gal was about as passionate as a bowl of vanilla ice cream. So don't believe stereotypes, even if they're about yourself(ves).
Yay! Loved the video Marina! Also, thanks for making the group so diverse from all over Latin America (we got a Nica🇳🇮 in there wootwoot). I totally agree with all the answers given 😄
One thing people need to understand is that the distance from north to south in Latin America is similar to Ireland and East Asia, for sure there's a lot of cultural similarities, but also the ethnic composition of each area is quite different.
In Cuba men and woman are treated equally. There are a few machistas but women are hella outspoken and never submissive. We’ set the men straight whenever they get out of line
Ima just say it but I'm latina and I hate to party. I loathe going out. I don't know how people do it. I don't like loud music, or meeting strangers drunk ones. I rather be at home with my dogs and watching movies by myself.
In the the late 60's my mom (Salvadoran) said my dad's (white) relatives assumed my mother would be lazy and dirty. They were so mad to see my mom was very clean, never relaxing. Our house looked better than theirs.
Loved this video! Latin American an Lazy it's so false! We hustle non-stop, work harder than anyone else in jobs nobody wants, that's why we nap so much! to get the energy back for the party.
If I had to define Latin America with one word thst word would be diversity. We come from all corners of the world. There are Latinos from Asian, European, African, Middle Eastern, background. We Latins come in all sizes, heights and colors. And because we are SO diverse stereotypes will always be inaccurate.
BRAZILIANS ARE LATINOS!! I'm Brazilian, and I felt offended when someone says "no you aren't,you don't speak Spanish" or "do you speak Spanish?".....Bruh...We need a BIG DISCUSSION, Latins: countries that speaks derived languages from Latin(Itálico),that includes French,PORTUGUESE,Spanish,Italian..... But...countries that speaks Spanish are Hispanics, that's a big difference...we share a lot of cultural similarities(and different paradoxes)but we only don't speak the same language,please... Even if Portuguese is not the same language,I still can understand what a Spanish speaker says to me,ik that's paradoxal....but...yee
