The Truth or Square special episode was so hyped as a kid. Even the intro was awesome. I'll never forget the Spongebob & Sandy wedding scene.

I remember this episode. It was celebrating the 10th anniversary of SpongeBob, and it had tons of celebrities. Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, even P!NK got to sing a song. It was a pretty good way to celebrate all 10 years of SpongeBob.

The long waiting for the wedding scene is finally over, Chance's reaction is just perfect. And to think, the joke "And now that he's famous she wants him" about Ripped Pants would become true. Yeah, in all seriousness the true shocking reveal out of it was that Sandy was originally created to become SpongeBob's love interest/potential girlfriend. Back in 1997 when SpongeBob was named SpongeBoy as a prototype Sandy was quote "The apple of SpongeBoy's eye" with the sketch of her riding the surf and Spongeboy standing behind handling a giant acorn. In fact, there are quite a number of obscure facts from side material that hinted them as sort of romantic duo: in one of the first games SpongeBob kept big poster of Sandy in his locker to which he responded quite dreamily about how looking at her makes him smile; there was a small segment in one of the books where SpongeBob gave advices about surviving a secret crush and in one of them he actually said about the Treedome; one of more popular SpongeBob books writers, David Lewman wrote a book "SpongeBob's Secret Valentine" where SpongeBob thought Sandy was preparing a valentine for him, but when he did his own Patrick warned the friend it can destroy their friendship. Turned out Sandy was making a valentine for her mom, but she was glad for the gift and on the back cover SpongeBob is drawn with kiss mark on his forehead. "Ripped Pants" was originally written to be SpongeBob's and Sandy's canon moment: SpongeBob preparing for potential date at the start, Larry was supposed to be his rival, the song was about SpongeBob's feelings towards Sandy and them becoming a couple at the end of the episode. Season 1 in general still had the heaviest romance nods even in its final version, "Karate Choppers" was indeed a whole big association with sex(which means Krabs took SpongeBob and Sandy work for him "doing" it) Even this wedding has cut moment, when priest said he didn't know the wedding was a play SpongeBob said it doesn't have to be with Sandy slapping him after saying that. I guess writers didn't want to ruin the joke or imply that SpongeBob at least might have feelings towards his friend, that's unclear. But, Wincent Waller, one of the writers and executive producer for mid seasons after Hillenberg quit was supportive of SpongeBob and Sandy, but doing that was against Stephen's rules of not ever giving SpongeBob a love interest. So, that's the true secret out of this special and despite Spandy(the ship name) wasn't and will never be canon it won't stop being pretty much alive in the fandom and just among the audience. And, surprisingly there will be a few more hints later in the show and other movies. Personally, I ship and will continue shipping them, hoping others alike will have the same fun even if it's non-canon. Stephen could have whatever opinion he wanted, but even knowing that he still opened Pandora's box.

“Truth or Square” was another one of my favorite SpongeBob specials when I was still a kid. The Celebrity cameo were incredible and the Patchy scenes had me dying too.😂😂Also, fun fact: SpongeBob’s song in the end was a reference to the song “O Christmas Tree.”

What is this version? This version it looks like Patchy is entering nickelodeon studios to get ready for a special show! What is this version or is my mind playing tricks with me?

This special is meh for me. It’s not as bad as others say, those moments like that keeps it decent. Though that stop motion opening is really well done, including the patchy 10 year anniversary intro is really touching🎉

Spongebob as an unborn fetus is so cute 😄 And the scene of him getting ready for work reminds me of the 1st movie :) Patchy trying to call Rosario Dawson is hilarious, he got some hot ahh breath! Lebron James, Tina Fey, Will Ferrell and Craig Ferguson and the late Robin Williams all making cameos are great 🤣 even Pink too, the song We Got Scurvy is such a bop! When SpongeBob moved in, lol, before his house was next to Squidward’s, it was his garden. And “Not Spongebob” making Krabby Patties.. did they forget about Jim? Patchy getting swallowed by a while reminds me of Jonah 1:17 in the bible, and the Pinocchio movie where Geppetto, Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket got swallowed by Monstro. The fake SB/Sandy wedding 💀 and the different intros for the other characters, lol! Now Patchy getting sneezed out by the whale and crash landing into the studio, for him to hallucinate being in Bikini Bottom and meeting SB at his house.. and at 35:04, that’s the last time and the last episode the closing theme for the show plays. They need to bring that back in the newer episodes! 37:41, perfect tune to sing, especially now that Christmas is approaching, even though it’s called Oh Krusty Krab Yes, they do have a 20th anniversary special! But you guys still got a long way to go to catch up to that.

Fun fact: They made this episode into a video game like Atlantis Squarepantis for the Wii and both games were fun. The characters were more expressive than the previous games. That is until you get to Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehyrated :)
