@fictionmyth

Not to be "that guy" but corpsing is when you are stuck in an uncontrollable cycle of laughter. Like take one causes you to laugh and you laugh every time at the same part each take, or just can't physically stop laughing. A break is when you laugh during a part that isn't scripted to have laughter. As in to "break" character. Cue the "The more you know" star.
@MultiOMFG1
@MultiOMFG1 10 лет назад
Corey Carnes Corpsing IS unintentionally breaking character by laughing. What you describe as a "break" is, indeed, corpsing.

This video perfectly shows the difference in humor between these two. Fallon is more generic "ha ha" funny whereas Colbert is just absolutely brilliant. That makes it all the more special when Colbert once in a while slips into slapstick like "Suq Madiq"
@meloniez427
@meloniez427 8 лет назад
It's preference. I enjoy BOTH their humor very much. Does it have to be a contest? If you watch Jimmy's SNL audition you can see he's funny, but the whole wit thing isn't his style. He's still funny, just not in that way

@thesilvershining
@thesilvershining Год назад
Jimmy does a ton of things that Colbert could not sell well. He's not "generic" funny, he's silly with a lot of charm and a golden retriever personality. That's how he won The Roots over, he's a lovable dorky goofy dude. He's not the "quickwit" funny like Stephen but there are a TON of quickwit comedians already. I think Fallon is the rarer comedian who can do silly and slapstick but also does amazing impressions and musical skits both serious and comedic. His impression of Snoop Dogg was one word and he made his guests and the entire audience laugh hysterically for an entire minute because it was PERFECT comedic timing and delivery. He also never has to resort to "bully" humor, which I really admire.
@MsStealYourDadAndMom
@MsStealYourDadAndMom Год назад
@@thesilvershining that exactly what I was thinking. I don't really tune into late shows a lot, Craig Ferguson was my go to and I haven't consistently watched since he left, but depending on my mood I prefer one or the other. I could watch Jimmy's musical stuff on RU-vid all day, though lol. He reminds me exactly of my friends golden, always excited and happy even if a bomb were to explode in the front yard.

I agree about John Stewart and Oliver. I really can't get in to Colbert's new show though. When he played a character on the comedy central show, his commentary came off a little funnier but still insightful. Now that he's not playing a character, he comes across as kind of pretentious, condescending, and douchey, in a way Stewart and Oliver never do. Just my opinion though.

@DanielFolsom
@DanielFolsom 10 лет назад
That's kind of a weird ignorant comment. It assumes that the host always has to be the funniest person on the show. Plenty of talk show hosts - including Colbert - will tell you that when comedians come on that's not always the case. Watch Jon Stewart with Chris Rock or Letterman with Robin Williams.

UncleMilo I think the opinion part is the problem. The news and politics was mentioned and joked about but his show has a more political angle and depth that a mass mainstream show should avoid....Why should one care about that stuff? Propaganda and Politics are always ugly stuff and self serving. For the most of us the less we have to think about "poop" the better life is. I can't think of a single leading politician that isn't just fluff. Remember actors, sports figures...etc. just about all non political figures are on late shows a complete change of gears if you can't ask politically charged questions.

+Simon Thomas I know I'm late, but I felt like answering the question. Yeah, Colbert is an excellent comedian, and is widely known for his wit and timing. I dunno if it was scripted (I doubt it though, it's not Colbert's style), but that kind of on-the-spot comedy is something Colbert is famous for. Check him out! He had "The Colbert Report" where he played a stupid republican, and currently has "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." As a side note, if you want to see George W Bush get roasted for, like, 20 minutes straight search: "Colbert white house correspondents dinner." AMAZING.

So many comments are bagging Fallon because he can't keep a straight face and that's one reason he's my favorite talk show host - he openly enjoys himself on air.

Stewart/Colbert in 2016, they might not know what their doing, but at least we'd be laughing on our way down the tubes.

Actually, they would both probably have a very strong understanding of what they're doing if they ever decided to run.

Hahaha I already watched this video several times quite a while ago and no Wonder why I simply love Stephen Colbert!!! His answers are hilarious and pure wit while Jimmy Fallon's answers were indeed funny, but like silly funny, and he was much less of a good actor that Stephen Colbert. Anyway, I love both of these talk show hosts, and it was amazing to have both my two favourite talk show hosts in one video, but Stephen Colbert remains my number one favourite talk show host ever (With David Letterman as well, who was amazing too)!!! :)

Fallon needs to rely on games and a whole freakin sketch to be funny. Colbert tells witty jokes. Difference, one's just a child, the other's comedic genius.

I hope ppl dun try to compare Colbett and Jimmy because their styles are different; Colbert is political and suits the Letterman style while Jimmy does great impersonations, jokes simply makes u laugh silly and I like his breaking his characters best
