Just sharing a little info for people looking into these axles. I got mine a week ago and they do not have bearings anymore, just bushings. Now I dont know if exo got special treatment or vitavon just changed out they way they are being shipped. They are still amazing and seem to be top notch quality.
I flipped my bumper brackets front and rear and pushed the bumpers in as far as possible, also trimmed the fenders a small amount to get rid of the tire rub, these two mods helped a ton!
Of course I have a set, haven’t seen them in action because there still on the way. Thanks Joe, this is exactly what I needed to know so money well spent is how I feel now. Haven’t built my 10.3 yet. Wished I could pay someone to build it for me so I can try those axles out by Vitavon as well. There absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
The bearings instead of the bushing washers is just a genius idea. I dont know much about Viviton but from what I've seen their stuff looks amazing, like top of the industry amazing. Wow just checked the link and those axles are way cheaper than I thought they would be, I might have to get those.
Well done sir, looked real good. I know I've been taking a good long while to get to this crawling / trailing thing, but all you guys that put out these vids keep me real interested 😁👌
Flanged bearings in steering knuckles has been around a few years. Less than 5 years, but around. 4 years ago when racing 8th scale & sct, Tekno had them on their 48.4 buggy.
I’m building a TRX 4 truck from the ground. I went with the Vitavon axles... must’ve been pre-brass porthole option?! Got them through you Jim! (Your welcome) ... Bought the Yeah RacingTRX 6 axle set (also from Amain through ya) ... not impressed! They look like they’re made out of pot metal! Hope they hold up!!!
I’ve been trying to make my mind up on which crawler to go with between the Axial scx10iii Jeep Gladiator or the trx4 Ford Bronco. After this video I may have to go with the trx4
I did NOT think it would make that climb or get the nasty. If you had dual stage foams you may not have got the hook on climb and crack of doom? Great driving! Did it give you a few ideas for the Pink Jeep trx? It may have rolled on the nasty with those garage hack wheels you mentioned?
I was as surprised as you when it climbed Twin Ridges. Changing foams can help in one place but hurt in another, its tough to find the perfect compromise
Great video! On my latest build I have gone with the Integy axle housings and Samix portals. No cute bearings but they do offer super fit and finish. Did you ever trim the inside mounts for the hanging up on rocks problem?
how long it take you to get your axles? I ordered mine 3 weeks ago, not a word out of them nor is there a way to find out where they are at. Sent 3 emails to the service dept with no friggin response? Guess i wasted 300 bucks.
Joe which wheels are you referring to from tgh? Interested in something to hide my bling because I've noticed my brass c hubs seem to grab things more than my plastic ones
