My Dad moved our family to the country when I was 7 and I learned to love it. I spent my summers Hiking threw the woods and finding stuff under rocks while my siblings found every reason to hate it. They would start their bickering and fighting and I would just disappear into the woods or, to the middle of the hay ring to pet the horses while they munched away.

So many people get into homesteading, not realizing how hard it truly is, and how much work is involved. I wish they had these farmstays available everywhere, for various climates, because each climate has its own risks and rewards, but so people can do the work while there...to understand what's really involved. This looks more like a vacation.

I grew up on a farm, getting up early to milk cows, clean the pig pen, round up the chickens, pluck veggies from the garden, and do it all over again 7 days a week. Always took time out for Sunday church, then back to farm! I still garden to this day, but can't have any farm animals where we live. Great fun!

Now I have plans to set up a retreat and trips to visit other poly culture farms has been inspiration, plus the PDC I just completed. Highly recommend farm stays and tours. It could make that massive difference and help to discover the purpose within.

I grew up in a rural/small town in South America and now living in USA that’s all I crave is the natural life, that I’m really trying to re-create it on my small plot of land in the city. Hopefully blessings of good health I will be able to live on a farm not too far from the city but more in nature.

Looks like a great time. I don't know if there are any of these here in the states. I did grow up in NY's dairy land and between my Dad and 2 of my Uncles we had just under 3,000 acres and many cows. We also raised pigs and all kinds of fowl. We made maple syrup and one Uncle had bees so he had honey. We also did a lot of hunting so most of the time we were Self Sufficient except for paper and soap products. So I do know what farm life is like. By the way our veg garden was on the ground (not raised beds) and covered 2 acres when I lived with my folks. I only have 3 1/2 acres now so the garden is much smaller. Times have really changed. Now I work in a factory where I make Corelle dishes.

I would have to agree with some comments. This is a wonderful resort but I could not recommend it as a way to determine if you want to homestead. You truly have to be fully involved in the running of the homestead. You need to be the one that is responsible for the care of all the crops and animals. It is a huge responsibility and I believe you know that. Between the work and keeping your animals and crops safe. What it can be like if you lose animals. I watch your videos and I see it don't go as planned always. That said I fully believe it can be away to get a glimpse of the country. If you just simply want to live in the country and maybe just tinker in some farming. It could grow to end up with something large like Hosanna Farm size but first just be happy with living in a country home.
