Funny thing is that I’ve got a mini Kelly dupe and told myself this bag wasn’t for me. I never asked my SA for it but she offered it to me last September and I took it.😂 I now actually love it without being my favorite size obviously. But I still use it very often. I like dupes to try, I have no shame about it!

I think this is smart and I'd want to be as sure as I could before investing. This is my own hangup but don't think I could wear the dupe because I would keep thinking about it not being "the real thing" and I'd immediately want to take it off. I know this is my own issue because I have no problem with anyone else wearing a dupe. Thank you Lisa. I appreciate that you are so open. xx

I think for the most part, dupes are definitely not exact. The sandals for example are definitely different than the Celine ones but give a similar look. I guess since in my head I know they’re not the designer item and I don’t pretend they are (I will always tell someone where I got something from), I don’t feel bad. But you definitely have to do what’s best for your brain!💜

Well as I may have mentioned, I’m a big fan of the dupe. My dupe of the LV Odeon convinced me to buy one. Quince has a dupe of Celine that made me realize I didn’t want it and I’ve just ordered their dupe of the Clare V. DUYP has a Métis dupe I may try. I don’t like branded or dupe jewelry - but bags I’ll do all day long. So I totally agree!!

Loving the Mini Kelly dupe, Lisa. I looked them up on Google and the company is now called Mille. The website says they are real leather so that’s cool. My niece is fond of Kurt Geiger so I’ve been looking at their handbags and SLGs, too. So many cool items for less. Thanks so much for sharing!

Your honesty and sincerity is refreshing. I think some people may find issue with things that aren’t logo heavy on the designer versions and it’s more about the aesthetic design ie. The VC&A and Bottega pieces. But I think this video will be super helpful for many people.

I still love my LV reverse monogram *yutulux* clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.

I just bought a Bottega mini Jodie dupe from IG and hate it! Not sure if the dupe is exact, as the opening is so small and on the mini Jodie it looks wider. The faux leather is nice to the touch, so if the opening were larger I would probably keep it. I love the color of your mini Kelly dupe. I’m on the fence on this style too…let us know if you sell it, or I willlook to see you linked it. Thanks for the informative video. For earrings, I would probably go authentic only because I have sensitive ears!

Lisa this a fantastic video, thankyou! It really cheered me up, because I had a rather bad day. So I had bought a beautiful onyx and gold bracelet from my jeweler here in NYC, almost identical to yours, ( like the VCA). I love it, and wear it daily, and usually get compliments. Well today as I was shopping, a woman asked me if it was VCA, I said no, it’s a creation from my jeweler. She looked at me with such disdain and shock and said I should be ashamed to try to wear a bracelet that passes off as VCA, and basically I was wearing a replica. I just walked away but it made me so sad! So I was really happy to see you wearing the same bracelet and your story behind it. Thankyou for cheering me up! ( I also LOVE that bag you made, it came out just stunning!!)

Thanks for this video…I love premier brands butttt, I honestly get tired of items after a year or two so it’s sometimes really hard for me to justify paying top dollar for premier brands when you think about the cost per wear and the fact that I have so many options and try to rotate as many items as I can with my style…I will purchase a great quality pre-loved before buying new and if I find a good quality dupe…I will do that first as well…saving literally thousands of dollars annually.

I bought that same Celine box dupe! I was seriously considering buying one and now, no. When the strap in connected to the top flap, I open the bag and it accordioned open in a store and looked awful. 😊 I bought a Louis Vuitton S Lock messenger dupe and it works for me so much that I want a real one. 😊

Thank you! I will not say it was super fun to make it. It definitely gave me a new appreciation of the work that goes into these bags. Now of course the craftsman that make them regularly have a lot of experience and so it’s obviously much easier for them. But I’m proud of my accomplishment! Btw, love your username!!💜

The only dupe item that I have is a tweed jacket from Nic & Zoe. Chanel doesn’t make a size for a more busty girl so I will have to be happy with the one I have. I didn’t really even realize that so many dupes even existed. That’s probably a good idea to “try on” a luxury item before investing in it. I feel kind of out of the loop in not knowing this even existed! 🤪. Love the beige funnel neck top you are wearing…too cute! 🥰

It’s a shame most of the luxury houses are not very size inclusive or contemplate women having curves. There’s a whole world of designer inspired pieces. I follow a couple of RU-vid creators who occasionally do designer inspired videos. Mostly stuff from Amazon and Etsy. Nothing has branding on it and there are definitely differences but it’s a great way to try things before you invest in thousands of dollars.

I bought a Loewe basket bag and I’m selling it. The leather is beautiful but the straps are an odd length and I find it very uncomfortable. The Kurt Geiger one looks like it has better strap length - I’m going to go see if they still stock it.

Actually I guess one could argue that my diamond cover pendant is sort of VCA- esqu but ironically I went with my piece bc where I live the Alhambra is literally everywhere and I wanted something different. I also have an older MOP/silver Alhambra fron etsy that I gave to a niece. :)

If it’s something I think I’ll only want for a couple of years then I go for the dupe. Sometimes they still cost a couple of hundred dollars because they are nice quality so I’m more than happy to have the style and keep most of my money.

I am not a mini Kelly fan either. I bought the Steve Madden boots that look like the 2500.00 MIU MIU boots and I love them. Steve Madden shoes are really comfortable. I will not be buying the 2500.00 MIU MIU boots because the ones I have are just fine. Buying dupes are a great way to see if you like an item.

I think the main issue is branding. Clearly all the fashion houses “copy” each other. The Hermes Bolide and the LV Alma are a perfect example of that. But I think most people draw a line in the sand with an item having branding on it so clearly pretending to be the real item rather than something that is inspired by or resembles the designer item.
