You mentioned purging in the jewelry closet. Hear me out! WHAT IF, you did a super special Linda's amazing stuff auction??? I for one, would LOVE to wear/display some of your jewelry, home decor, or especially garden items. I can't possibly be alone in thinking how cool that would be! 🥰
Awwww! April 1st! Happy birthday Stewart to come! My parents anniversary was April 1st! They always laughed and said they were a couple of fool's! Seven kids and 57 years of foolishness!!! Haha
Another good repurpose of the toilet roll is as a fire starter, especially if you do a fire pit, by filling the roll with your lint from the dryer & just set it on fire from both ends. Ta Da
I make hundreds of fire cubes, to quickly ignite our woodstove, using t.p. rolls , lint and bees wax. The last ages and I have even used some for my neighbour. I love your storage hacks.
Linda, appreciate your sharing the picture lights! I have wanted to light up our art work but, like you, didn’t want to hire an electrician - thank you so much!
I love the wood shades and bookcases! Great ideas with the jewelry display. I wish I had a wall to do that! I love the way your home is coming together!
I so miss your Outfit of the Day. Although I am older than you, I am thrifting and following your choices. Please continue this part of your presentations. Mary
Love your office with the Billie shelves, they are the perfect color. The hangers are a great idea for your jewelry as well. Someday a panel of wallpaper behind the hangers would really look awesome. Love how your home in coming together!
I love your content lately. I love watching you disclose your interior of your home, as well as outside. Oh my goodness! I love the black table in your living room. Beautiful home!
I too have a heated throw I turn on every morning when I sit in my leather chair and watch the RU-vid channels (I gave up on regular tv). I agree with you…it could be a little warmer but is so comforting….especially with the cold, rainy weather we have in S.F. these days. Love your channel, your delivery and suggestions and your great use of the English language…I can see how your son takes after you…keep up the great work….Stuart is great too.
Very convenient jewelry holder for closet 👍 Linda I use a straw cut to size for whatever pouch/case I'm using, takes up less room than the toilet paper roll, something to think about Just love watching you settle in with decorating inside and outside....thanx for sharing 😉
Birch was definitely a good choice, Linda. Perfect with the window shades. White is nice, but sometimes there can be too much white. The light birch is soft and warm and just enough contrast against the white walls. IKEA has some great pieces. 💕😊
Linda-another great hanger for necklaces are the wood hangers for spools of thread-you can get them at Walmart for $10!! I have 2 of them and they’re filled!
Love the bookcases and the shades. Looks perfect. I may be beating a dead horse, but have to say I still miss your outfit of the day at the end of each video. You always look so cute!
Thank you so much, Linda for all these amazing finds. I watched the video twice & especially need the bamboo blinds & picture accent light. So unique...many thanks for sharing & your new home is really coming together.! Spring is coming!
Great recommendations, Linda. Your cottage is really coming together nicely. The styled bookcases, blinds, picture light look great and your mom's wicker chair is perfect. Did you add bookcases and the wicker table to your master bedroom like at your previous home? I saved a photo of your bedroom to MY inspiration file! Oh, and that white shirt is too cute. 🌳
The Billy birch bookcases are perfect. I put them in my home 20 years ago. They flank the walls of my library and of my bedroom. I also added the extenders to the top of the bookshelves. They match so beautifully with the maple cabinetry that I have throughout my home. Glad to know that they are still being used and loved by many. Another very important link that you need to share is your adorable battery operated kitchen, candlestick light that is beside your oven. I have looked and looked, and I cannot find the link. Please share if you can!
I love the TJ Maxx tag peeking out from behind the blue throw on the chair!! TJ Maxx is a great store to shop and find unique things for the home!! Your home is coming along beautifully! Love the light wood shelves. I went with blond wood furniture in my craft room, that required assembly. I bought it a while ago and it has stood the test of time! The room is on the north side, so I wanted something light and airy. I paired it with natural and light colors, a bamboo style roman shade, and earth toned rugs.
Hi & Merci, Linda for this informative & lovely video featuring your fabulous & loving husband & your tips. You're more beautiful than ever & such an inspiration to all! Much Love & Beauty sent to you & yours!💐😻🧚♀️
I'm LOVING the jewelry storage hack. Brilliant. I will definitely be using that when I move next month. You're the best, Linda, and I appreciate you. - Carla
The Billy bookcases are a gem. We had them at our first home and left them since we had attached them to the walls. Lasted 12 years while we were there and still looked awesome. Wipe clean. Gave the room so much personality. I want them again, but our IKEA is a 3 hour drive 1 way so haven't made the trip yet!
Linda,I'm in UK. You have a really English vibe. In my opinion anyway. I love how you use thrift shop (charity shop) buys or even repurpose things. And I loved that you weren't promoting expensive designer items (as I dreaded) but were championing budget price lifestyle store items that is accessible to everyone. Even the corkboard I thought was a good price for what it is. You have that knack of making everything in your home look classy. It takes class to do that. And also in your gardening style you express a very English sensibility. I think. I bet if you went on a day trip tour to Highgrove our King Charles would invite you to tea!
Love your videos Linda❣️I’ve been following you for years. Thank you for bringing joy into our lives 🥰 Love and hugs to you, your family and your bonus son Stewart 🤗🥰
Hi Linda, I’ve been really enjoying following your new home vids since I’m going through the same new (old) home process. When you first showed the bamboo blinds, I immediately knew that my window covering issue was solved. Our new home has a cottage vibe going for it and my last home was much more traditional (as in plantation shutters). Thank you for all the wonderful ideas you are sharing. It’s making this transition so much easier. 🤗❤️
Everything is coming together quite well. I love the bookcases and I also have three with glass doors for my doll collection. They look awesome and were easy to put together. Can’t wait to see the yard progress soon.😎
Wonderful ideas, Linda!! I LOVE how your office is looking. The bookcases and table are FABULOUS! Your new home is really coming together, beautifully! The light that you now have throughout this house is just great. I know you must be so happy with this move and very RELIEVED that you are settling in! Can't wait to watch and gather more great ideas! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE everything you have done! Sending you and Stewart much love and blessings...
Linda. Thank you for all the tips for your home that you found to make your life easier. Love the hangers for the jewelry. That is a great idea. Your orchid is gorgeous . So beautiful! I know your front garden is going to be beautiful. Can't wait to see it when it is done. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Linda. What if you use small s-hooks on the bracelets on hangers. That way you don’t have to take them all off to get to the middle ones…or you can use black towel bars to hang the jewelry with S-hooks
Love the electric throws. I have 1from my daughter & 1 from my mother. I've had bamboo blinds for over 40 years. I've moved MANY times & they work in any house. The light still comes in & there is privacy.
Thank you for this most inspirational posting on making life easier for ourselves, Linda! Thank you for sharing your creative talent with your RU-vid fans!! 👍❤😃
Yes I love your birch bookshelves! White or dark wouldn't have been as nice. Great eye Linda. Your front room looks so cozy in the soft light. Sunny day here in Washington so I have to go shovel dirt into raised beds....
The older I get, the more of a baby I've become about being cold! I have one of those heated throws on a couch in the basement, where we have a secondary TV I am sometimes relegated to watch. It's ALWAYS cold down there, even in the summer! To warm up in our den, I asked for a smaller warming wrap from CVS for Christmas. It's just large enough to drape over your shoulders, but really helps keep the chills at bay!
My husband’s birthday is on April Fools Day, too, Stewart! He’s always been a prankster and gets oh so much enjoyment April Fooling his friends on his birthday. Love my April Fool! 😍
I have some of the things that you have shown on this video and love as well. You can really make a video so appealing to go out and buy something…love the shelves. I have a media room in my terrace level that I have been trying to figure out where I could do all my books, so watching this and seeing how pretty and how you displayed in your office, gives me the initiative to go and get these shelves. ❤Sending you lots of good wishes with love hugs & prayers…❤️🙏🏼👍🏼
genius linda! I have some of those trouser hangers and never ended up using them honestly. It was awkward getting the pants on and off. I'm totally doing this for all my earrings!!!!
Regarding the At Home book, you said "what I consider to be my aesthetic now"......confirms my impression that your style has changed so much from the story book house. I do miss all that beautiful, dark, warm , mahogany wood. The arches and shuttered windows , those french doors off the kitchen sitting room. I miss is all. But hope that someday Sidney will give us a peek in how she styles the same space.
This house is so much lighter than your old home, which I loved too. My house faces South, so the backside is usually darker. My husband has lights on in those rooms all day. We built this house, but other issues were more important when we sited for the build because we live on the side of a mountain and had to be mindful of run off.
Have you checked out Carla Rockmore and her "mature" woman's fabulous closet? I think she uses inexpensive IKEA items to store her VAST accessories. You two should meet. You both inspire this way over 50 woman. Hope you're happy in your new home/ garden!
I really enjoyed the variety of content and all the ideas. Your home is coming together so beautifully it’s very welcoming. Look forward to each video❤
Put your necklaces through a straw. Much smaller than a toilet paper roll and great for traveling. Could also use on your hangers to keep them from getting tangled when trying to remove one.
Love those bookcases. I have used many over the years. It think the birch provides a soft warmth along with matchsticks shades. The house is becoming more lovely everytime I see it.
Hi Linda Like your suggestions. At 10.44, what is the color of your office walls. It looks as though it has a hint of green. My husband thinks you look pretty in jeans. Which is easier: getting the interior decorated or the outside landscaped? I did think white was better but the shades you have look good also.
This was filled with great tips and ideas. I love the tones of your office. Can't say enough good things about the Billy bookcases, I have had mine for many years and still love them. Will definitely look into the picture light. Thank you Linda!
I got the color of bookcases from Ikea too. Two units with glass door and two units without. We recently moved. I can wait to display my book collections. Shopped in Tuesday Morning and Marshall for accessories.
Hi Linda and Stewart Great show. May I recommend a blogger who will give you super ideas for your new place? DIY with Kiva Brent. I think you will learn a few tricks from her the way I learned from you! I love the picture light but I heard about that from Kiva a while ago. She has great ideas for smaller homes apartment living. That’s you now! The orchid arrangement is so beautiful. Can’t wait for you to be back outside too. None of the home bloggers I watch do both garden and decor advice. And most garden bloggers know plants and landscapes but don’t do what you do! Nice work! 🥰7a New York
