I miss the Mickey shaped lollipops that came in solid pastel colors. Does anyone else remember those? Pastel blue, pink, yellow, green, and I think orange. These tasted better than the clear colored ones.
Haha growing up Mexican, my parents would bring chorizo con papa burritos, ham sandwiches, and tortas. I actually never wanted snacks/food from Disney as a kid, but seeing the other kids with a balloon or toy was what got me.
Yessss! My family would make lunch and we would go to the car to take a lunch break. We would have a cooler in the car (parked under the shade) and have burritos or sandwiches. Now, I love to try different/new foods at Disneyland!
i’m one of four kids, so i remember my parents bringing in peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, with chips and pretzels to snack on while we waited in line! it was so fun to be able to enjoy the food aspect of disneyland in a whole new way as an adult! now it’s one of my favorite parts of being in the parks and planning my next vacation🙂
MigVee has been having fun with the editing I am loving all the title cards and transitions! & the vibrant camera quality makes me feel like I'm right there with yall! best disney vloggers for a reason!
For some reason this is one of my fondest memories as a child and it’s strange that I remember this. It was August 1991, I was 4 years old and it was my first time going to Disneyland. My family drove in from Long Beach and we had packed bologna and cheese sandwiches, chips and other small snacks. I’ll never forget when I asked my grandfather if we could get the Disney food and his response was “McDonald Douglas doesn’t pay me enough to get Disney food, but one day you will eat it.” I’ve gone to Disney over god knows how many times and he was right!
Oh my gosh, im tearing up here, thats so tender, neat memory to look back on. And touching to me bc Im about your age and my grandpa, dad l, mom and a bunch of my uncles worked for McDonnell Douglas in the 80s and early 90s. do you remember the Company Store?
MigVee thank you for being so open and real about your childhood. My parents took me to Disneyland 3 times in my childhood and that was a blessing on its own, but the lunch bag game was strong. My mom would make ceviche and we’d get a locker to store it and have lunch. We would get Churros as a treat but growing up to Mexican parents has its own quirks. I also still love ceviche de camarón! Love the channel and the energy, thank you for the happiness you bring me.
Same- mostly. No ceviche- but the 2 or 3 times my mom took us, she prepared lunch and breakfast and we were allowed one meal (and a FEW treats) in the parks. Plaza Inn and Hungry Bear are what I remember. Still love Plaza Inn. ❤ it’s nice to be able to try all the treats as an adult, but I totally get why she stuck to her budget. Wasn’t easy w/three kids then …and even harder for families now. xoxo, Mom
OMG OMG OMG!!! That was me yesterday when I saw you guys... I was totally FAN-GIRLING (in my 30s) over the fact that I was wishing I would see you guys there as I was celebrating my birthday... and almost as we were leaving it came TRUE... Thank you both for being so nice and sweet as me and my daughter took a minute of your time and took a picture with you! I really appreciated that! ❤❤ THANK YOU for your wonderful videos.
I didnt get to go to Disney as a kid but I am grateful now that I am an adult I get to give my kids that magical experience of Disneyland! They love it! Although whenever I went to a state fair or something similar we used to pack chorizo egg and cheese sandwiches. I was jealous also of the other kids who would get the “good” food but I love making those kind of sandwiches now. 😊!
One special memory I have is when I went to Disneyland as a kid my dad asked me if I wanted a churro and I said "Whats a churro?" and my dad was like oh my gosh you don't know what a churro is?! And bought me one on the spot! 😂😂 ❤
i am from Texas, and when my family would go to California, my aunt that lives in California would always make breakfast tacos to take with us to Disney. Good memories. 30 years later she still makes me something to take with me on the plane ride back to Dallas.
The very first memory I had was when I first moved to the country. I had never heard of Disneyland prior to. I remember by dad brought a big cooler of noodles and sandwiches and we ate it at the tables by the locker rooms. I remember feeling jealous of the other kids eating the parks' food, but now, I would trade anything to relive that memory again.
I love these kind of laid back videos where you guys just take us along throughout the park 😊 🏰 Especially for those of us who don’t have a pass anymore
Oh man, yes! We have a generational tradition of bringing food to Disneyland 😂 when my dad would visit as a kid my abuelita would make chorizo con huevos burritos, and when I was a kid it was pb&j sandwiches! It still feels like such a splurge when I buy food in the park.
My wife and I met y’all last night. It was such a cool experience. Thank y’all for the work y’all put into these videos. I really enjoy them a lot! It really was awesome meeting y’all!
7:05-7:21 I have never been to Disney with my parents but when my parents would take us to indoor pool they would always pack sandwiches for us or home made burritos lol and they would just buy the drinks inside
The attraction I like the best is the train! I love all the rides but there's something about taking that "Grand Circle Tour" that's so relaxing🥰 It's funny, when we are young we don't like the brought from home food, but once we get older we look back on those days with fond memories. Thanks for always bringing the Magic with your videos Magic Journeys!
My parents didn’t make very much. We usually brought turkey sandwiches. I’m just so grateful that we were able to come to the parks the handful of times that we did as a kid.
Hi guys, I do have such beautiful memories of Disneyland when I was young. We didn't have much money but my parents made sure we visited Disneland a couple times every few years. My mom would make us peanut butter n jelly sandwiches for lunch. It was so good because by lunch time we were so hungry. We were able to get one treat, a toy or candy to take home. Popcorn was a must and my favorites to eat in the park.❤❤
Thank you for sharing your childhood story. I am just starting to bring my own food to the parks. Last trip I started with “healthier” homemade cookies to give to my kids when they wanted a sweet treat.
I love the music you chose for this video!! It fits the vibe well and hope it continues. Loved the nostalgic story about bringing food to the park too!
I love love love when you guys share your childhood stories growing up going to Disney. We used to pack tortas too! Tortas de jamón with frijoles. Doritos on the side. It’s not rare for me to get emotional when I watch your videos because it reminds me of those times I miss ❤
Back in the day guest were able to come in and out of the park anytime you wanted .. my family and I used to go to the McDonald’s across the street and eat there. As we got older the Plaza Inn became out to go spot to eat. 😊🤙🏼
When my grandson was young he could not have artificial flavorings or coloring which made it hard for him going to Disneyland. So we brought in our own lunch which was good for him. We brought fruit, PB&J sandwiches made with home made jam and natural PB, Fritos and snacks from Trader Joe's. He enjoyed having chicken and mashed potatoes from the Plaza Inn for dinner.
We are from Northern California, Bay Area. We would often go to Santa Cruz and Great America and our go to meal was a Family Size TOGOS sandwich. My mom would ask for the number 3. She would tell them to cut it 4x cause we were a family of 5. My dad would always eat what I didn't finish and I always got an end piece cause I loved the bread more than anything. :) A memory I will always cherish.
We went to Disneyland so much our parents were the greatest. We started off trying everything in the park got so tired of it. We start bringing our own food sandwiches and chips were our favorite. We would bring KFC Taco Bell. some McDonald's cheeseburgers. But I have to say that ham and cheese. Sandwiches on the French rolls wrapped in an Wax paper in the cooler with the chips after they Chilled for a while it was just delicious.
Back in the day mom pulled out ticket books from previous visits (all A, B ) and if you were quiet on the drive over. She splurged for new books. We were very quiet cause a lot was on the line. Hmmm nothing like a baloney sandwich mom had carried in her purse from home till lunch. Something about Disneyland makes a warm mustard baloney sandwich taste great. Yep even back in the late sixties early seventies Disney food was just a dream. Yes when the tickets were done (and so was mom) we called it a day. Usually happened in the mid afternoon.
There were 7 of us so yes we brought lunch. Sandwiches chips and soda in a cooler. We got a locker and at lunch we would eat in the pinic area. My parents would buy us dinner and it would always be at the golden horseshoe. Great memories.
Migg-and Jannel I used to live with my grandmother in east los Angeles. I worked in the city of commerce. And I never went to Disneyland. Now that I moved back to my home town of San Jose, I go to Disneyland as much as possible with my family.
Miss sherry here. My family is from San Diego and we Disney 2-3 times a year.u mom would cook fried chicken and potato salad the night before, and we would have cold chicken at Disney in our motorhome... fun and so good.
My family brought food in when I was a kid, too! My Mom would get a locker and put a cooler bag of sandwiches in it. We’d each carry a backpack with snacks in it, too. Back then, the food was pretty basic “theme park food” that wasn’t all that great. We’d always get churros, that was a must! Now, the food is phenomenal and can’t be missed!
Of course! It was knotts berry farm and tortas de jamon. And burritos de chorizo and we would get asked “where did we buy that” we felt odd because we brought our own food. But like migs looking back so blessed my mom thought of bringing our food because now those memories are so special. And they tasted amazing !
Yes! We always brought our lunch and dinner. Fried chicken I remember most. They used to have a few picnic tables outside the gate, well before California adventure. Good memories 😊
My parents brought burritos de Carne de sebrada con papas (shredded beef with potatoe burritos). Many memories of our parents struggling to bring us to Disneyland. One memory I will cherish all my life.
Miguel, my family used to bring tortas de jamón or queso fresco growing up! It wasn’t until I was 15 that I got to taste the turkey legs for the first time and the corn dogs! I guess i can be a lot like goofy cause of my laugh and my clumsy self.
Yess! I remember my parents bringing sandwich fixings and we would go to the parking lot and have a sandwich feast in the car. Back in the day a lot of the locals did that. Good times! Thank you for that Miguel that brought up some great memories
I enjoy that you have fond memories about food that your family brought to Disneyland. When I was a kid we would bring plain bologna and cheese on wonder bread with chips. Sometimes we would get corn dogs along the way. We were more focused on running from ride to ride. Great times!
Living in Virginia our amusement park destination was normally Kings Dominion. When my family visited we always took a picnic lunch with sandwiches, chips, and juice boxes. It was truly memorable.
Hi Miguel and Jannelle, thanks for the awesome video. when I was young and my parents would take me to Disneyland, my mom would make bean and rice burritos for us . she made the best burritos. it is a wonderful memory I will always cherish. you both have an amazing day.
My mom made us turkey Jerry sweet teriyaki and fresh homemade pretzels. Trail mix! On the go tasty treats racing from ride to ride. Best memories I have of my mom.
We use bring and still bring our own food and drinks when we do visit the park too. So you guys aren't alone. So don't feel bad about it. This strawberry ice cream sundae looks absolutely delicious/amazing. What I miss at Disneyland are the giant character lollipop and mickey bar ice cream bar..
When I was a kid my family would bring sandwiches, chips and Capri Suns to the park. We would rent a locker to store the food and then find the picnic area to eat lunch. ❤
Omg yes! I have vivid memories of having a cooler backpack with a sandwich, a bag of chips a can of soda and a water bottle! And by the time it was time to eat they would be all smashed 😂
Hi, fun video! Loved the sundae! Will definitely will be getting that! When I was a kid my parents would bring tuna sandwiches and chips. We never got to get any food from the park. But I was grateful to be able to come and I have great memories of my family at Disneyland. Now that I’m an adult I’m so blessed to be able to have a pass and go every weekend and buy the food at the park and film it for my channel! Thank you for sharing
Yes! My family usually would bring sandwiches (turkey, ham, PB&J on Roman Meal. Do they even make Roman Meal anymore? I never see it in stores anymore). But at the end of the night we always bought one dessert to share as a family. I remember I always wanted to try the funnel cake but everyone preferred a Churro or Ice Cream Sundae. But my favorite memory was when my older brother got his first full-time job and came home one day during the summer and took me and my younger brother to Disneyland as a surprise. This was our first sibling outing to Disney without our parents (He was 22, me 13, our younger brother 11), and at the end of the night he got us each our own dessert! I finally got my funnel cake and yes I ate it all by myself. Nothing ever tasted so delicious. But I don't think it was funnel cake. It was all the magic my big brother brings to my life
Our family was at Disneyland in January and rode Casey Jr. for the first time, such an underrated ride! We are so excited to visit Toontown for the first time hopefully later this year.
Only went one time as a kid but I remember my parents would brought sanwitches with Chiles en Vinagre, Chips, and gatorades. A Family of Five I can see why lol
It definitely makes sense for families to just pack their own snacks and sammies. As a kid you basically only want chicken fingers or pizza anyway, so it's not super memorable. But you DO remember the rides and characters.
When my daughters were younger like in the 90's..Yes I'm old but young at heart...We would buy all these awesome stuff like candy, nick nacks, keep cups, napkins crazy right. Well upon getting home (Texas) we would take our loot out and have a blast relieving our days at Disneyland... The Memories something to cherish...Can't wait for the whole family (all 17 of us) to go back to Disneyland this coming June...
We would go once a year (1980’s)and my Mom always made sandwiches with chips. We never bought food from Disneyland we didn’t have the money. I take my kids every year and we eat in the park. I really miss eating those sandwiches with my Family. Simpler times😢❤🥪
A few times, I have taken a cooler and met up with the family at the picnic area and have a full set it up buffet style. Sandwiches: pb&j's, ham, salame, cheese, crackers, boiled eggs, make your own salad. Fruits: watermelon, oranges, frozen grapes, jicama, cucumbers, lemon, pineapple. Desserts, chips drinks water, soda to Capri drinks. This also took care of 14 to 18 people. Easier to have seating for all of us.
Thanks for sharing that MigVee 😍 Avo tortas sounds AHMAZING!! My grandma would make these incredible ground meat burritos and i remember having that with a side of doritos 😁 Looking back I should have been more grateful My cousin in law said it was tuna sandwiches for them
I love Casey Jr! When I was a kid, my parents always brought in McDonald’s hamburgers for lunch. They were always cold by the time we ate them and I hated it! Now I’m always bent on getting food in the parks!
When we first came to the US, my parents took us to Disneyland with my cousins. I remember taking a break to walk to the car to eat. They packed Filipino pork adobo pandesal sandwiches, and of course rice. And we grubbed!😂 One of the best memories from my childhood🤓
Omg, I remember my best friends mom would make us tortas de frijol con queso fresco and aguacate with Jalapenos en vinagre. My mom would send me with tortas de jamon con frijol and jalapenos in vinagre. It is crazy to some people that we would be sent with jalapenos. But when I attended school in Mexico that's what I would buy tortas de frijol negro con queso oaxaqueno and jalapenos. I am thankful to my parents for allowing me to attend school in Mexico because it gave me a different perspective. I learned to write, read, and speak in Spanish. I don't think I would have had such a great childhood without these wonderful opportunities.
Back in the early 80's our grandparents always took us to Disneyland during the summers & holidays. Coming from a Filipino family grandma usually packed a cooler of cooked rice, a pot of chicken adobo, and canned corn beef sandwiches (the corn beef was cooked with onions, garlic, and tomatoes). We used to hate having to leave the park, walk all the way back to the car, and eat all that cold food when what we really wanted was the burgers & fries, but grandpa was old school & always said, "Either eat it or starve." Lol 😄 So we did. Those are Disney memories we'd never forget.
7:09 omg yes!! When I was younger, and the very very few times we were able to go to Disneyland, my mom would pack tortas de frijoles con queso. And it was that beautiful delicious stinky mexican cotija cheese. Omg my mouth waters just remembering. Hated it at the time because I always wanted all the Disney foods but appreciate it so much now because they were made with love and sacrifice ❤️❤️
Mexican familia right here, my parents made Chorizo burritos and chili verde burritos. We always had oranges and avocados for the sides. It was the best looking back. ❤
We’re from Hawaii and visited Disneyland last October. We made at least 20 spam musubis the night before for the eight of us for snacks throughout the day. 😊
Pirate’s of the Caribbean is my favorite all time. When I was a toddler, we lived in Anaheim for a short time. My mom would bring me to Disneyland. This was back when you bought tickets per ride. She said I would ask her to go on “Pamits” over and over again. (I was two and couldn’t say pirates). My earliest Disney memories are coming up to and through the scene with the pirate ship with the canons dropping. I live in Sacramento now, but I ride it still 4-10 times a year when I visit the park.
Yes! My mom, older cousin and tia would all bring sandwiches, chips, water bottles (frozen so they would just defrost by the time we are in the park and need to drink em haha) and other snacks. If we wanted food food, we would leave the park and go to mcdonalds or jack in the box xD haha Rarely we would have gotten something but mostly brought food/left to eat. Brings me back memories, makes me want to cry tbh. Thank you for the memories you guys ❤
Thank you for showing Disneyland in springtime! Love the pink trees and baby ducks running around! Can't wait to see them all on Tuesday! ❤ and yes, we would take egg burritos wrapped in foil to keep them warm☺️ It's such a blessing to take my kids and buy whatever food we want! I don't take it for granted!
Growing up. My father and I would get the soup bowls right before Fantasmic which is my favorite show. It was our father daughter date. I miss him he passed in 2011. Love you dad ❤
Hello😊I'm a Japanese fan who supports your channel☺️Tokyo Disneyland will celebrate its 40th anniversary on April 15th.Do you have any plans to shoot in Japan?
Growing up my family always got into Disneyland though a friend, but still we would always bring snacks, sandwiches like pb&j’s or deli sandwiches but also we would share a corn dog and a churro as well!🤍 one time while holding spots for the parade a family bought us two chicken dinners from plaza inn and I will never forget how happy my family was. The family bought us those dinners as a Thankyou for holding their spot for a parade. My sister ended up working at plaza inn when’s he turned 18 hahaha disneyland has great memories for me growing up as well!
Ham and cheese sandwiches with cheese stick or chips…. they always got us a dessert of our choice in the park! 💕💕 LOL my father refused to buy “over priced soda and food in the park.” I leaned financial responsibility from my parents and almost have my house paid off. 🎉🎉
My first trip to Disney was as a college student. And, yes, even though it was over 40 years ago, yes, I still remember bringing our own food along! You guys are the best - my daughter and granddaughter look forward to each new video that you put out - as much as I do! (Loved those ducks, by the way!)
My Mother would Fry Chicken , Bake a Cake slice it. Bring bread and kids drinks. We would go out to the Van and eat. Then come back in to play. God Bless her Greatest Mom. Miss her so much.❤
We would bring sandwiches and a one litter Coke in a backpack to eat during the day. My father refused to buy an overpriced 🌭. Plus, there were a lot of expenses coming from PR.
Omg I'm going next month !! Haven't been back since the early 2000's I'm so excited... I'm gonna be like a kid on Christmas day again haha and I'm 50 years old lol
We got to go to Disneyland a lot growing up. We lived in Orange Co in the 70s and 80s. We would bring our own food quite often. One of my favorite parts of our trip was when it was time for Main Street Electrical Parade, my aunt would show up with Wendy's hamburgers for us to eat waiting for the parade.
I used the carry an insulated back pack and picnic with my kids on Tom Sawyer Island. Typically I would pack canned chicken, tortillas, and mayo packets to make wraps. They still remind us of the park. :)
I remember going to Disneyland with my family. One time we were going on Story Book Land Canal boats. One of the cast members helping people get into the boat. She didn’t notice the boat wasn’t close up to the dock. I got helped into the water. It was December and it was cold. They quickly pulled me out and took me to first aid to dry my clothes.
