www.homebuildin... Click on this link for more helpful videos about stair building, design and home repairs. I wanted to try and provide you with an easier way to calculate or figure out the individual riser height, along with the horizontal distance for the over all stairway, so that you can figure out whether or not it could actually be built or built safely. Don't forget to visit the website and check out some of our books on stair building.

He is trying to get an average height of the step. The total height is 89.75 inches. If it were in feet he would have to convert it to inches. So he used 7 which is a general height for any step. That came out to 12.82. So he took 11, 12, and 13 to see which height he wants to make each step height.

It's a standard code for each stair heights, that's in inches. If you from other regions unit using cm the conversion is 1 inch=2.54cm

Not only amaricans watching this video, it would be easier if you use metric system in your videos.
@constructionideas
@constructionideas 5 лет назад
In reality it's easier to those who understand it and feet and inches is easier to those who were trained with those methods.
@fulesmackofule

Simple, 7 3/4 inches = 7.75 inches = 19.685 cm. But agree, imperial system is weird. I actually missed explanations in the video. Why 6-7.75 inches? Because of the convenient step height. Why 10 inches for a thread? Because you need an appropriate surface depth to step on, including your heel. Otherwise, thanks!
