@Metsugolden
I'm sorry, but did those rescue candies cost $330 or $3.30? Im sorry. im just making sure if i read it right.
@TheUberGoldFish
The reason why hard candies like those are considered emergency foods is not just to be a mood booster! To summarize Steve1989MREInfo's words from his 1943 Life Raft Rations video, the reason why hard candies are chosen over any other food sources is due to the nutritional density of the food itself while also not dehydrating yourself in the process of eating it. They gave packs and packs of JUST hard candies to people stuck at sea!
@ShaferScott
You forgot to add the decimal point for a few USD prices. I was confused why that tiny candy jar was $330 dollars 😱
@serioushex3893
my mom always keeps some long-lasting hard candies in her car, just for the occasion she has to drive very late at night. she gets really sleepy driving in the dark, (like, sleepy enough to nod off), so she always has something sugary and preferably sour to keep her awake and alert.
@angpham941
Given Japan is such a natural disaster hotspot, its understandable why rations look this good and eye catching
@cocoanatsu5589
If you've ever seen Grave of the fireflies, The first Candies that are in that container are the same ones.

"Babe, wake up. A new Dancing Bacons just dropped."
@alext6933
I'm glad you tried the room-temperature versions
@mimibfly
the emergency candies could also be for diabetics to prevent their blood sugar fom dropping

Man I was sat for a second here like. It's super weird to just have emergency food that is explicitly intended to be such off the shelf like that! But then I remembered that I guess it's maybe not uncommon to have disaster kits there from the sound of it, especially after the tsunami and earthquakes of recent years. In any case, all this stuff seems pretty nifty! This seems like it would be a good guide for decent things to put in such a kit!
@HayTatsuko
I love that the first item was what some people here in the US called "old folks' candy" -- the sort of hard candies one might find in an open bowl at grandparents' home for any visitor to enjoy... but likely unchanged and untouched since the last time one visited! The rice and the pasta were both very impressive -- making them edible with just room-temperature water is a real boon for true emergencies!
@jaehaspels9607
I was very impressed by that rice and pasta. I've never seen dry rice or pasta become palatable w/ just room temp water and no cooking. Amazing!
@grapiebee
That vegetable juice looked great, the variety of veggies in it was great!!
@nategehl4506
I really liked that you used the unheated option for all of these.
@noahboat580
I love how the hard candy bottle has that green 'exit door' style
@mikuumelody
the view in the background is crazy pretty, I love your videos so much!! perfect to watch before bed
@jessylei

@KT-Kaboom
Kinako mochi with chocolate sauce is one of my favorite desserts! I'll have to try it with brown sugar next time!!!
