My pregnancy craving was toothpaste... and brushing my teeth, weird but the feeling of brushing my teeth for like an hour when I'm pregnant is actually the best thing. It's actually how I realised I was pregnant with my second 😂
I had that with my second child. I would brush my teeth just to taste the toothpaste. I also really liked the feel of the brush going over my gums. It was like a soothing massage. I hear it it a pretty common craving but you are the first person that I have actually come across with that craving since my second pregnancy and he is now 12.
Oh wow when I was pregnant I spent an hour trying to brush my teeth without gagging or throwing up, I’d hate the taste of mint in my mouth & as soon as it hit my tongue it would make me gag, I’d literally spend an hour trying to brush my teeth & I would gag or puke every time & I’d have to start all over again until I would not puke
I’d say my weirdest food combo happened by accident actually. Someone in my family refilled the cinnamon container with cayenne instead and one apple pie later we all realized that spicy apple pie *actually kinda works!* Add some vanilla ice cream and it’s legit really good.
Huh. I'm gonna try that. I add ginger to mine. I season on the fly so each pie is different. I do the basics then go with my gut. Vanilla, allspice, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon...Honestly the family raves so I must be doing something right.
Try a healthy few grinds of fresh black pepper in your filling! I love watching people go “…wtf did you DO why is this so GOOD” when they try my Apple pie the first time. 😂😈
French fries and vanilla ice cream is delicious, and not even a preggo-craving 👌🏻😊 When I was pregnant the first time I had cravings for Granny Smith apples with yoghurt and Nutella.. During my second pregnancy I had a nasty craving for Mackerel in tomato sauce with Pickled vegetables and horseradish...
My pregnancy craving was canned peaches. Not gross, thank goodness, and led to us nicknaming the baby Momo (Japanese for peach and is also a girl's name, for those who don't know). Not a craving, but a weird combination that tastes great is French fries dipped in vanilla milkshakes or vanilla ice cream. So good!
I never had strange cravings when I was pregnant. Instead, being pregnant kinda temporarily cured my GERD, and I just ate nothing but spicy foods. Once I had my kiddo, I was unable to eat spicy again for 5 years (2021), until I had gallbladder surgery and can now eat spicy foods again!
Wow, I was the complete opposite. My acid reflux was SO much worse when I was pregnant, I could hardly eat at all. I could only eat tiny amounts of really bland food
This encourages me to believe my spice tolerance can go way back up again after gallbladder removal surgery. Cuz I kinda stopped eating spicy food, along with all of the other types of food they recommend to cut out for the gallbladder diet as you recover. But I guess I just didn’t add many of those foods back into my diet.
Mine aren't strange either but very specific. Chilli-Chees-Nuggets with sweet&sour sauce, specifically from Burger King, for example. Not wierd but it has to be from Burger King, nothing else will do.
My mom always craved spinich and salads while she was pregnant. She never craved anything weird or questionable. On a side note, I love egg (sunny side) and banana together. You dip the banana in the yolk and it's so good.
I just realized I don't know what a brownie is ... as in how is a brownie different from chocolate cake?? I just realized this while Jackie was describing a brownie.
I found out what they were when I was 12, because they have a completely different name in my family and nobody besides people that I'm related to talked about them. And I'm not gonna even try to spell what we call it.
When I was pregnant, I had the GROSSEST craving for an ice cream, SPAM, hot sauce, blue cheese and oreo cookie sandwich on some days, others the same as a milkshake. The spam was the bread, the ice cream HAD to be vanilla, the hot sauce was Tabasco and the oreos double stuffed. I am never having a second child. Also in Haiti, there are dirt/clay cookies. Pregnant women are known to make and eat them.
My husband looked at me and told me I was pregnant when I was eating chocolate swirl ice cream, Carmel sauce, ruffles, tomatoes, and salsa con queso. In the same bowl. Our second was all sweets all the time.
Hi birth and postpartum doula here. Craving pickles and icecream is actually a very rare craving for pregnant women. It's very interesting how it ended up the main example of pregnancy cravings because most pregnant women actually crave pretty normal things.
My sister wanted to eat cigarettes while she was pregnant. Now that is weird. Never in any of my 6 pregnancies have I wanted to eat something that wasn’t edible. 😂
@@DeathlyDahlia22 Developing a disorder like that temporarily isn't usually heard of, but sometimes you do get weird side effects with pregnancy! Whether it be diabetes, or even your eyes changing, pregnancy has a lot of odd health risks you wouldn't think it would cause!
Really? Here in Finland, Europe, it´s a common craving pregnant or not. I craved for banana dipped in liver sauce. And it is not recommended (at least in Finland) for pregnant people to eat liver because it´s high on vitamin A .
I'm not and never have been pregnant but I am someone with an incredibly sweet tooth but has an insane craving for the savoury as well, which means I often combine my foods together. Cheddar cheese dipped in melted chocolate for example is one of my favs 🥰
When I was pregnant I got two cravings. One was something I would try again, watermelon on top of a grilled cheese sandwich, and the other is just gross to even think about being Reese’s peanut butter cups dipped in ranch dressing. I loved them both while pregnant eleven years ago, but never have tried either again lol.
@@datgaydangernoodle1315 Oh lol, my mom also craved orange juice when she was pregnant with me. Normally she doesn't like it that much, but during pregnancy she drank nearly nothing else 😄
When I was pregnant I had a really weird craving for a salad sandwich thing. I took two pieces of white bread, spread strawberry or pomegranate vinaigrette on them. Then baby spinach. Then sliced strawberries I think. Then potato chips, usually sour cream and onion. Close that baby up and it was so good, I swear.
OH! How I wish Sika was in this one!~ My pregnancy craving was dull. Watermelon. (but with salt) bad part was it was in December. Also tuna is good with BBQ sauce. Thank you Jackie for your sacrifice.
I don't think tuna was barbecue sauce sounds bad at all, you can actually get tuna in little pouches at least near where I am that come with flavorants like ranch and barbecue it's not the same barbecue sauce but still decently good, I've also enjoyed none of which while I was pregnant saly on watermelon I actually got that one from my grandmother and my parents it's just one of those combinations of sweet and salty that go really well, for a long time I said I wouldn't try it because I really didn't think I would like it on watermelon one day i thought it was blah so I tossed some salt on it and it was awesome.
I love having “mustard and custard” it’s not actually mustard and custard but that’s what my dad calls it it’s basically muffins and custard and it’s really good. You heat it up in the microwave and eat it it’s really good
When I was pregnant with my son I wanted ruffles wavy potato chips with a dark chocolate gananche topped with crispy wrights bacon caramel sauce and finally topped with guacamole lol.
I’ve heard that pregnancy cravings can be brought on for the body needing more of certain vitamins and minerals (not someone who knows about the science of pregnant people but it feels sorta logical)
In health class I remember being told "The baby is going to get what it needs from the mother's body, regardless of what she's eating." That had an impact on me, probably because I have a fear of most parasites (and things that resemble them).
My periods sometimes give me WEIRD cravings and the weirdest one was strawberry ice cream and beef jerky. I look back and wonder WHY haha. Other cravings were: milkshakes and cookies, blueberry poptarts and bacon jerky and doritos with chocolate milk. I also had one time where I woke up in the middle of the night and CRAVED pretzel sticks.
Sounds like it might be calcium, iron and magnesium you're craving. I have something similar, and have fewer cravings if I make sure to try to get a little extra of those three things in the week before my cycle.
My weird period craving is cheese puffs and peanut butter sandwich, and for some reason instant noodles....oh and one that make my mum feel ill I dip my strawberry jam on toast in my tea lol
My weird craving is pickles, peanut butter, Mayo, and cheese, tbh it just taste like a normal cheese sandwich but with the creamy texture of peanut butter
I have never been one to have weird cravings but when I was younger my friend was pregnant and she used to crave Kit Kats and ketchup it wasn't half bad. But my favorite combination that I would not say is weird is mashed potatoes and barbecue sauce which is delicious.
"You do you, now I have to do you... this not what I mean" Jackie, you are my absolute favorite youtuber. I swear to Bob, I wish I could your real life friend.
Craving non-food items like dirt, charcoal, eyeshadow, etc. is called "pica". All cravings usually are because of missing nutrients / minerals (pickles = salt, bananas = potassium, etc.) But, yes, pica is usually associated with iron deficiency. It's also said that if you're an ice cube muncher that's also a sign of anemia or iron deficiency.
I like eating ice cubes but that’s just a thing of if they’re in my drink I might eat them, I definitely don’t get cravings. When my cousin’s daughter kept eating ice cubes to the point that she learnt how to get them out the freezer at the age of like 3 they took her to the dr & turned out she had iron deficiency
Ive never been pregnant but Ive always liked toast with peanut butter and dill pickles, it was in a book I read as a kid and I fell in love after trying it
Jackie's quote of the day ' it's like licking the ocean and a cow ' 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 She is so hilarious😂 I absolutely love Jackie's wacky weird personality. ❤❤❤❤
i actually enjoy instant chocolate pudding and plain potato chips together, i used to do this every time we had chocolate pudding at the nursing home i used to work at
Try pepperoni pizza dipped in chocolate pudding! It’s my favorite and I ate this since I was a kid, had nothing to do with pregnancy lol. I also enjoy Mac and cheese on my brownies 😂
Ginger bread and blue cheese is weird craving and something that some Finnish people eat around Christmas. My stepdad eats blueberry pie with cheese (a gouda or other lightly flavoured cheese) sometimes he also adds deli meat on top (mettwurst is his first choice 😅)
As a small child, we used to buy banquet meals, and my favorite thing was to dip the chicken strips in the brownie, and then in the Mac n cheese. It was delicious
In an upcoming food video, you have to try grapes covered in powdered sugar that you freeze. I tried it for the first time yesterday, and it was like the grape exploded in my mouth into an almost smoothie-like texture. I give it a 10/10!!
When I was a kid, I used to eat jelly and mayonnaise sandwiches. It can't have been healthy, but I ate tons of them. As an adult, the memory of that oily sweet combo makes me feel gross, but young me was all about it. A much yummier combo that I like as an adult is as grilled cheese and jelly sandwich. Tasty!
Grilled cheese and jelly sandwiches are REALLY good! Different cheeses taste better with different jellies. I thought my weird family was the only one that did that.😁
When pregnant with my eldest, i craved banana and marmite sandwiches! Thick white bread, proper butter, mashed up banana and plenty of marmite! When pregnant for the 2nd time, i craved marmite 24/7! Turns out, i have severe anaemia, and my body had no vitamin b12 stores. Marmite is packed full of b12, so seemed like my body was trying to replace it without me knowing lol
This isn't a pregnancy craving but would definitely be considered a weird food combo. When I was little I would eat peanut butter and bologna sandwiches for lunch all the time.
When my mother was pregnant with me, she craved fountain Coca-Cola. It had to be fountain though, not bottled or canned. With my younger brother it was anything and everything grape flavored. Grape flavored lollipops, soda, popsicles, anything grape she wanted it.
I remember at birthday parties we would have simple potato chips ( not lays and all, the SIMPLE one ) And would mix it with our cake frosting It tasted good actually
Yes!! I remember that on occasion at birthday parties (and the occasional family reunion too) cuz there'd be just enough frosting left and the potato chip leftovers that my Great Depression survivor grandparents insisted they be eaten cuz ya didn't waste good food (even if it's just chunky potato chip crumbs and the last smudges of frosting). Good memories. Stay safe and be well. ✌👍😁😁
When preggers... my oddest craving was: canned spinich, heated up, with a huge scoop of mint-chocolate chip ice cream on top. That craving lasted a week. Lol. After that, it was pretty "normal" stuff. Watermelon, asparagus, spicy foods, all-you-can-eat steamed shrimp (i ate about 6 pounds, and the waitress was jaw dropping as she kept bring out more for the huge pregnant lady who looked to weigh 150lb, and 50 lb was baby bump lol). My final craving was homemade apple pie. Too hot outside (105F) to make from scratch... so off to store i waddled. Came home with the pie, baked it, ate half (the rest went to family), and went into labor that night. Oddest ones I've heard of: Doritos & strawberry jam (or jelly) Dirt, ice, etc (sign of anemia) - fun fact, this was really common in the past, and for my family history, I heard of (not just family, but locals to them), pregnant ladies going out and grabbing chunks of red georgia clay and eatting on it like a watermelon. Kinda shows you how iron-poor the diet often was. Wood. As in... pine, oak, maple. Salsa & ice cream (it was vanilla) PB&J sammies made from pancakes (tbh, this was good lol) Peeps (the easter marshmellow things dredged in colored sugar) dunked in barbecue sauce (gross to even think about)
Wow, thanks Abigail, that's a fascinating list! 😆 I can vouch for (definitely non-preggers) tastiness of nut butter & jam on pancake-type dishes - its delicious on my homemade cornmeal pancakes!
My mums pregnancy cravings that I like to eat: Nutella & pickles Brownies & marscapone Onions Garlic Strawberry dipped in sugar Cheese & pickles Marscapone & salami (Marscapone spoonfuls) Guacamole & gnocchi Cranberry with cake
Haha! I never had super weird cravings when I was pregnant, but it was when I discovered how amazing ranch dressing is on almost everything, and when I became just obsessed with spicy foods. 🤣🤣🤣
When I was pregnant with my kiddos...I couldn't eat fast food and I was obsessed with baked potatoes with cheese and butter, buffalo tenders and fried clams 🥰 very interesting video you made Jackie.
I also LOVE the combinations of: -Dipping my Macca's chips and nuggets into my chocolate fudge sundae, & -a tiny bit of Cottee's chocolate ice magic on top of Arnott's pizza shapes SO DELICIOUS!!!!
Jackie, you literally made my childhood. And I remember getting a heart on my comment from you as a kid and I FLIPPED. Those were the good days, it was a nice surprise to see you on my page, hope you're having a good life.
My older sister made me try a slice of American cheese in neapolitan ice cream....and I actually liked it. I still eat it sometimes. Trying new things can be fun, but I don't know if I could try some of the things you tried. Thanks for trying them for us!
I imagine the peanut butter and tuna fish would borderline taste like something from a Thai restaurant. I love Thai peanut sauce and, commonly, fish sauce is in it.
It really does not but it is good if you make it into a sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, bacon and avocados. I have to buy more peanut butter and tuna because I really like it in sandwich form.
@@samparker9631 u see that's the thing it's food Sika loves food. she would love the ice cream. Also she has the guts to try anything involving food many of Jackie vids with Sika she would always imply food or snacking would do the same even if it's for strange combos.
Alright here’s an odd craving that I sometimes get. Mac and Cheese and Banana. Btw this started as a dare and now it’s soooo good. The banana has to be perfectly yellow, no brown and a little firm that way you can dip it. The Kraft Mac and cheese is the best in my opinion with the banana.
I used to like having tuna with mayonnaise before I became a vegetarian. The moment you mentioned the tuna+ice cream combo, it suddenly brought back a memory of the time when I, for some reason, thought of tuna and curdled milk when I was 11. This for some reason stuck in my mind for many months, and I didn't eat tuna (not even by itself) during that time.
Combos I've enjoyed over the years: Warm cheeseburgers dipped in ice cream. Whole pickles dipped in mayo and mustard mixed together. Cheddar cheese dipped in ketchup. Whole pickle with a peppermint stick shoved in it.
Not a prego craving, but when I was little I discovered that liquid honey and boiled eggs was absolutely delicious. Still my favourite way to eat hard boiled eggs
I’m not sure if its “weird” or not, but mashed potatoes rolled up with a slice of turkey lunchmeat. I created this as a child, and its still pretty good
Mashed potato wrapped in Devon ( or whatever you call cheap nasty pink lunch meat in your part of the world) was a party staple in Australia through the 70’s and 80’s. It’s pretty dang tasty
Honestly, I never had any weird cravings, mostly just different or foods I didn’t like. I mostly had weird food turn offs. After my youngest I didn’t eat pasta for years. I couldn’t stand the smell of it cooking when I was pregnant. I knew I was pregnant with my oldest when I started craving McDonalds. Lmao. But pregnancy cravings are INTENSE. I mostly just wanted Chinese food.
I'm pregnant now, and the smell of all veggies makes me intensely nauseous. If there's no smell, I'm fine. But as soon as I smell even just a little bit of that veggie smell, I'm on the verge of vomit. It's driving me crazy because I'm trying to eat better
I know this sounds weird, but I really love baby carrots dipped/infused with black olive juice😂 I just realized that I started liking that once I became a grain a few years ago.. so, I think the salt transferred to my palette, too😂😂 Love being a grain🥰🥰
I didn't have any weird cravings while pregnant(twice!) but as a kid I loved dipping potato chips in ketchup and mixing ranch dressing with my popcorn.
🤣 When Jackie says, what is that? Is that chocolate on my face? Yes "it's staying for the rest of the video" made me laugh so much! This is such a fun video 👏🏼 but my stomach hurt just from watching 😅
When I was pregnant I didn't crave anything odd but I wanted to eat REALLY spicy Mexican food and I mean burning mouth for hours hot when normally I only barely tolerate very mild stuff!
My cousins did that during their pregnancies too. Partially cuz they really really craved spicy Mexican food and once they missed their due dates, multiple mega spicy Mexican dishes helped their boys enter the world. 😳🤷😁🤷
OMG I LOVE PICKLES AND VANILLA ICE CREAM!!! IM SO HAPPY YOU INCLUDED IT!! IT TASTES SO GOOD 😭😭 I’m so happy you think so too!!! I’ve been eating pickles and ice cream ever sense I can remember!! I enjoy pickles and ice cream, fries and ice cream, pretzels and ice cream, chips and ice cream, pizza and ice cream, basically tons of different savory foods with vanilla ice cream… idk why but they’re just.. AMAZING
I craved three things: burgers, lemonade, and strawberries….lots and lots of strawberries. One of my favorite snacks is actually mozzarella sticks (with the marinara) and vanilla shake or ice cream. Yumm!!
One of my favorites is Doritos Nacho Cheese with dill pickles. We even used to eat a jolly rancher with pickles 🤣 sooo good. I almost forgot one fries and vanilla ice cream. Always a good choice
At my cousin's wedding, they had a chocolate fountain, so of course I tried it out with various fruits. But then there was quite a bit of chocolate left on the plate, so I grabbed some nearby smoked cheese and coated it in the chocolate. It was suprisingly good.
As a child I LOVED fries with applesauce! My mum showed me this combination (it's a Dutch thing I guess? She is dutch) and long time I didn't knew that this is weird, some childhood friend told me this when we ate fries together and she asked me if I like mayo or ketchup more and I answered applesauce xD She tought I was joking My best friend once told me she loved fried eggs with Maggi seasoning sauce. I never tried it but she said it tastes delicious
I think that is similar to Latkes with applesauce? Both potatos, so maybe? I like them with sour cream and applesauce. I wonder if french fries in sour cream is good.
Sharp cheddar cheese on graham crackers was something I liked when I was in college. Other than that, I'm pretty picky about combining different foods. This video made me gag just watching it. Jackie, you are a brave soul.
My College Roomate's pregnancy craving was Pizza with Dill Pickles and Green Peppers. I actually got into eating it ... and now 20 years later it's still a go to for me.
Jackie, you mentioned something about dirt being a common craving. Kinda a funny story, when i was little I used to eat dirt all the time. My mom sayed that whenever we went outside or visited something new i would always eat the dirt there😀
