Paying a premium for the Impossible patty when some of those patties were omitted during the order. They're like "Sure buddy, you can pay extra for the patty you don't want to get." Having said that, it made the show easier to understand, and that was the point.

That actually sounds really promising. If the impossible burger (or it's inevitable direct competitors) is already only marginally more expensive, as a niche food, scaling up will almost certainly lead to it becoming the cheaper option in time

No Burger is healthy that is made from meat. So let's get that straight right from the beginning. This burger is delicious may not be the healthiest thing in the whole wide world but it is very good tasting and it is not bad and it certainly saves the lives of animals. That's what I'm interested in as well as taste.

Once they get the costs down a bit more (which will happen now that Burger King and Fatburger are buying their paties), it's game over burger wise. Once they manage to get the same kind of texture for steaks, then they're going to revolutionize things.

Impossible burger has a Few issues. #1 - Its NOT a juicy burger patty, my Homemade beef 5% fat Burgers are more juicy and are Never frozen, to me the Frozen Impossible patty is a turn off, you lose Moistness and Flavor.

If you're worried about moistness, add it back. Sauces and marinades. As a non vegetarian, I had no issues with flavor or moistness of the impossible burgers I've had. Don't know if they were frozen or not, and really I don't care. They were delicious and tasted enough like a burger for me to be excited with where this is going.

A local pub by me has it often on it's specials menu and Impossible is already featured at White Castle (for a similar reasonable upcharge). If this takes off at BK and Beyond Meat ups its game to compete, you will probably see a decrease in the 'premium' charge due to economy of scale. Beyond Meat is good, but not great. AFAIK, it's not really in any major chains yet (Bareburger carries it along with Impossible) and has stuck to consumer retail. I bought it from a supermarket last week. It was delicious but it smells like wet cat food uncooked and it's pretty pricey.

Once it gets about the same price or cheaper than beef it’ll really break into the market. Because it really does taste like meat, I can confirm. Texture is slightly different, but if you didn’t tell me, I wouldn’t have known the difference. Definitely a game changer.

@U bik Be careful with Impossible foods, they are known to have tested on animals and lied about it. Then later admitted to it. Apparently its part of the FDA approval but some sources say they've tested on animals after that.

I had one at a local restaurant. It was amazing. However it was a barbecue burger and I think the barbecue sauce and onion ring really helped to hide the fact it wasn't hamburger. I think Burger King would do well to make a new burger instead of the Whopper so people won't be directly comparing the Impossible Burger to meat and the dollar price difference won't be so obvious.

I’m not doubting you. But, I’ve never had a fake meat burger that tasted like beef, chicken, pork. But that’s not to say I have never eaten a veggie burger or sausage and thought it tasted good. Personally, I think bk is absolute crap and their impossible burger won’t be made any different. Flame broiler for too short of time, microwaved, and slipped together.

@@maryvon8518 In a dead cow burger the barbecue sauce and onion rings plus "grilling seasoning" help hide the taste of 5 year old worn out and haggard dairy cow (which is where most of fast food hamburger meat comes from). Because really who actually likes the taste of a plain unseasoned and baked patty? The flavor and texture is largely due everything else but what comes from a dead cow.

Zach, the most successful Costco in the world is located in Seoul Korea. They pay the city for police to direct traffic around the building on the weekends. I think it is jam packed from 8am to 10pm 7 days a week. They are forced to close 2 sundays a month because they are killing the farmers market.

I live in Miami. They started selling them today. I just had one 5 minutes ago. You seriously cannot tell the difference. Looks or taste. I even pulled a piece off the patty. You can not tell at all. With the toppings, it taste exactly like a regular Whopper. Amazing.

@Bacons Strip Vs. the chemical processing needed to make vegetable matter taste like meat. Probably sparks all sorts of cancer risk. "Proceesessing" only means ground and rendered. What increases risk is all the chemicals used to sterilize and preserve it at the nasty slaughterhouse and the indifferent food handling by a chain of minimum wage/effort employees.

you never know what is happening behind the scenes. could burger king have paid to get exclusivity on this over other fast food chains? i'd imagine they could be way too big of a source of money for the impossible company for buger king to be abel to write that cheque, but you never know. maybe burger king is simply buying up as much as the company produce and they need o expand their production befor ethey can supply anyone else.

My closest A&W is over two hours away, one way. Right now if I wanted either Impossible or Beyond I have to drive approximately 1 hour each way. That's a deal breaker for a single guy for just a burger. If Impossible rolls out to Burger King it becomes a 15 minute round trip, including ordering and wait time. They aren't ignoring anything, they're just focusing on the potential to spread this type of product nationwide and make the barrier to getting it to be as minimal as possible (almost anyone can reach a BK, all they need to do is be willing to cough up a dollar more for a Whopper with the Impossible patty).

In my opinion, the Impossible Burger tastes a lot closer to actual meat. Being someone who has stayed away from veggie burgers in the past, I was blown away by how close the taste of the Impossible Burger is. It won't be the best burger you've ever had, but if no one told you it wasn't meat, you wouldn't notice. Can't say the same about Beyond's products.

I agree, but that's because the "Famous Star" isn't that great. You gotta modify it to be like a better burger. I take off the special sauce, lettuce and pickles, and then I add BBQ and onion rings to the burger. It's pretty awesome that way. Honestly, I prefer the taste of the Impossible to the Beyond.

You'll cut out a ton of excess calories if you drop the soda (and juice). You can also find calorie free sodas and calorie free flavoured water. Also calorie free water drops. I found these water enhancer drops at Walmart (also available online) called Stur that uses stevia extract instead of sucralose and acesulfame potassium. Zevia is soda with sweetened with stevia. Also I've seen coca cola made with stevia. Not sure about the other ingredients but yeah. There are options unless you live somewhere that has crap all. In which case you're better off sticking to water.

I remember the first Impossible burger I had, the waitress that brought it out had to reassure me it was not meat before I ate it. She was honestly concerned I might send it back after trying it. And I took one bite and understood exactly why. Since then I've sought them out wherever I can find them. Living on the west coast, it hasn't been hard.

You know the irony is. As far as technology, the Crown Vic it's one of the best made cars ever!. Disclaimer; I'm not a Ford guy. I prefer Honda and Toyota. But the Crown Vic has cars that are at 500k and beyond. So as a technologist, that might be the smarter buy.

I think he means it's not startling you with some weird, crazy flavor. It's just as standard as a regular Whopper beef patty. Think about it, that's what people would want out of a vegetarian option for a substitute to something they already like.

Not sure what other people in St. Louis think about it...I just had one at lunch after hearing about it from some co-workers. Tastes pretty similar to a normal whopper...except it costs an extra buck. Occasional bites did have a slight taste of something non-burger, but I couldn't figure out what it was. Not much flavor in general, but whopper meat doesn't really have much flavor to begin with.

Sorry, girlfriend accidentally bought this for me instead of the normal whopper. Not that the Whopper could ever compare to a fresh, handmade burger, but I could immediately tell something was wrong. I thought they had burned the patties. Dry, tasteless, with a burned/fake smoke aftertaste. I don't know how this guy can claim that it is "unremarkable" how similar the impossible is to a real Whopper.

What he said at the end is untrue, he said no other company has taken a plant based burger on that scale in which Burger King is about to do. Wrong!! Carl’s Jr. came out with their Beyond Famous Star back in January, and they did it company wide. I’m glad Burger King is doing this, but I believe it’s because of the success they’ve seen Carl’s Jr. having.

I would have been more impressed if you had done a blind taste test. Basically, I watched this, then realized after viewing most of it, that this is...or could easily be a Burger King infomercial for "in house" use.

sharkwithmachete2 Beyond is also great and is sold here in Kroger, Food Lion, and now Publix since I pitched a small fit. I like the Impossible Burger better for a grilled burger.

I was going to comment the same thing! I actually prefer the taste of the beyond burger and the quality of Carl's jr over BK but I'm glad veggie options are expanding to more chains! Makes my roadtrips a ton easier!

and white castle has offered the impossible burger for at least a year, and before that had(and still has) 2 other vegan options. A lot of options these days!

Well, is some locations they are avaiable already. Here in Germany we have Vincent Vegan, and they taste soo good, it was really uncanny bc it tasted exactly how I remembered beef patties :D

@@carloscervantes836 I agree. But, hell, I'll eat either. I'm just happy to have the option. For the first time in more than 15 years, Carl's Jr has got my business back because of the Beyond. If I want an Impossible Burger right now, I have to find a sit down restaurant that serves them. So, for BK to get them will be that much more convenient.

I just tried a BK Impossible....and was blown away by how much it tasted like a regular whopper. We are living in the future folks. I could almost say it tastes better since the seasoning is embedded within the patty.
