The guy with pink hair (blanking on his name) is spot on about the Jolly Ranchers. The smooth coating helps your voice be smooth, as opposed to chocolate which can make your voice all scratchy. It was the only candy allowed at choir camp when I was in middle school.

Probably because chocolate has milk. Dairy is not good for you vocal cords. In band we were not aloud to drink milk before a competition for that reason.
