@Bryan No there's a reason, for example, a hot pocket has a longer cooking time if you microwave 2 of them together versus doing just 1. It takes longer to "cook" the two since the "microwaves" have to go through more matter. Same thing goes with the dumplings. The more there are the higher the cooking time and vise versa.

It shouldn't make a difference as the microwave heats food by vibrating the water molecules. Either way, the dumplings heat up at the same speed.

@@alenanela1743 you clearly have no idea how a microwave works in real life, put 1 chicken wing in the microwave for 8 minutes and see what happens, then put an entire chicken in the microwave for the same amount of time, you will see which one is hotter immediately. The chicken wing would be vaporized, the chicken would just be really hot.

You can perfectly microwave the soup dumplings as long as you follow the directions explicitly. Mike was correct about the larger opening ruining the steaming process of the dumplings. And yes they are the most delicious of any if prepared correctly.

I know its a year later, but if you're still curious I picked some up recently bc I remembered Mike buying them in this video & couldn't remember if he said they were good. The bun is really nice but the filling is kinda bland. It definitely needs some extra flavor but the texture is nice overall. I'd buy them again to see if I could figure out a good sauce to dip them in

You NEVER lose with dim sum! I have friends in San Francisco who are able to order in Chinese, and we always get treated to specialties that other Anglos are never offered. If I were able to afford living there, I'd happily stuff myself to overflowing with dim sum three times a day, and die happy!

Microwave a full pack of the ginger pork soup dumplings as directed and they do come out moist and quite good.

Chicken Siu Mai is my most favorite, I rinse them before microwaving... taste super good!

I love Trader Joe's do more, you'll love it, their mochi ice cream is really good too, the mango one yummmmmm! BTW Mike, don't forget you now have an air fryer :)

yess I LOVE Trader Joe's! I always have some of those pork dumplings with the clear and blue bag in my freezer! need to fry or steam them though instead of the microwave.. Now I'm definitely gonna have to try the soup dumplings! yes do another video about the chinese food at TJ's!

OMG random Kirksville shout-out. Am I the only one who gets excited when anyone outside the Midwest says they went to NMSU/Truman? Also, glad the dumplings I always really want get the Mikey Chen seal of approval. Now I can go buy them.

Wow Mike ! Before watching this , I’d never even pay any attention to the frozen dumplings at Tj’s not along buying them ! Now I have to try !! Thanks 😊

Thanks for this! Still dealing with quarantine here in California, but at least I can get to Trader Joes. Appreciate you putting your taste buds on the line for us.
