Guyana is definitely one of the places I've got to visit, that eggboll looks so good, the pepperpot and okro dish opened my appetite. I'm gonna have to find this place when I go to Guyana
Thanks for doing the Guyana series. It is outstanding. You need to go back to try more of our foods. Souse, garlic pork, tennis rolls etc. Awesome. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I learned so much about the Indigenous foods. So awesome. David needs to try real Guyanese chinese fried rice and real Guyanese chownein. Also boiled Channa, and on and on. So very proud of our country. Now my Canadian spouse wants to visit asap.
@@biggyman987 Never curse the bridges you cross on. Shit country for only you. Because you cannot see the chaff from the chaff from the corn.. you are blinded brother.
Guyana is my birth home. I love my culture, my people, and the food-love visiting every year. I know you had a great time and the best service United We Stand 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾 Heyyy, #davidsbeenhere, that's how I discovered your page. Thank you for sharing. ❤️❤️❤️
I am proud of Guyanese Diversed culture .They learnt from each others and cook dishes from all ethnic groups. The guy was quick to say Pepperpot is a national dish but it' s only one of our national dishes. We have cultural national dishes such as DHAL, ROTIE, CURRIES , CHOWMEIN, FRIED RICE, STEWS, METAMGEE, COOKUP RICE AND THE LIST GOES ON. I would like the world to know we have more than one national dishes.Thank you very much.
In Trinidad the national dish is "crab and callaloo" but all the dishes you put in capital letters are also served! A national dish is something that is unique to the nation. It does not mean that other dishes are ignored. For example, in Trinidad so called doubles in one of the most popular street food, and even though crab and callaloo is the national dish people cook other things a lot more.
@@ameeliaramotar8450 No we dont. Stop you stupid stubbornness. Its like what the person said. I dont agree with any national dish idea, I think its dumb ...but its been many decades now where they have been saying its pepperpot. A national dish is a dish, that disked like or cooked by a large cross section of people but which is also unique. Dahl is national dish? Use common sense. We also make a crab soup with okros ...its that also a national dish of Guyana. No because its mostly made by creole and black people in Berbice or Indians that live around them, and its not made by anyone else regardless of race.
National dish is different from cultural dishes. All of that is part of the culture but just like the flag and the coat of arms one stands out as our representation. I personally love that pepper pot is it because it definitely encompasses us as a people
To all the people who have been waiting for the Guyana series, REJOICE. Your patience had finally paid off. You all can relax and enjoy now. Nice start. I am seeing a lot of things that are common to the Caribbean and foods that are similar but called by a different name e.g. metemgee: oil down in Trinidad, mango sauce similar to mango chutney, and a lot of fruits and vegetables that can be commonly found in the region as well. Everything is FRESH: from garden or market to pot and straight to stomach 😄😄😄. So now we will all see the expanded versions of all those 'shorts' teasers David put on. The only problem I had was Delvin comparing limacol to Robitussin because he should have warned people NOT to DRINK it. We used to mix the limacol with coconut oil and rub our heads when we have a headache or fever. Very good remedy. Just waiting now to see what else is in store. Sorry guys but I tend to be analytical at times but that's just me. Good job 🙏🕊️✌️🇹🇹🇨🇦
@@Triniforchrist hey Peter. We are communicating again on this one. Remember you know who in the Trinidad series? Lol. So far I like what I see, especially David starting off in the market to see some of the food and drink that he would be having in Guyana 🇹🇹🇨🇦
@@Triniforchrist I know. Me too. I keep commenting in other videos that David should have been taken to the market first instead of that spa. He should have gone to visit the Pitch Lake that had so much history behind it. Did you know that the asphalt was used on the road to Buckingham Palace and the Lincoln Tunnel? I am still angry. But you know it's over and done with, so we move on. Let's enjoy this Guyana series.🇹🇹🇨🇦
@@thebronx-kr9ns Yes, we are South Americans by geographic location. We are included as part of the British West Indies. Culturally, we share the same ways of life.
EVERYTHING LOOKED INCREDIBLE!!!!!THE BACKYARD CAFE WAS THE STAR!!!!!!💥💥I WAS DYING WATCHING YOU EAT THE FRIED EGG BALLS OMG I WANT TO TRY THEM SOOOO BADLY,AND THE PEPPER POT!!!!,WOW JUST A STUNNER OF A MEAL!!!!!FANTASTIC VIDEO &EVERYONE WAS SO HAPPY AND HAD ALOT OF INFORMATION!!!!!,VERY INFORMATIVE!!!!LOVED THE VIDEO !!!!!JUST AWESOME 👍💕❤😜💥💥🥰🤩🌞💙😘😍✌💋
I am commenting from Sierra Leone, West Africa. I really enjoy the lifestyle of Guyana, the people are so ... oh my God... I feel connected to Guyana despite a south American country but I like it. The cassava bread, is similar to ours here in Sierra Leone except that our own is very soft and is usually eaten with gravy and fried fish. The giant worm, we don't usually eat it raw, we fry it with it's oil; I mean we wash it and put it in a hot pot and then, there we go. I wish to have a Guyanese friend. There're really many things that we share in common.
Oh, thank you very much. I'm glad to hear you. Are you on twitter, telegram, or WhatsApp? If yes on all of these or maybe any of these please let me know so that we can have more time to chat and know each other better. Much love from SIERRA LEONE 🇸🇱🇸🇱 for GUYANA
@@1x1HealthyEnergybyAndrew ok, thank you dear. Are you on telegram or twitter? Let's have more space to chat please, or if on WhatsApp, let me know please.
I love markets..and that market looks just like ours here in Trinidad...so much seafood! The produce is almost the same like ours but known by different names at times though. The food at the backyard cafe looked delicious👌👌
I'm guyanese and you made me miss my home...we've got variations of all these dishes here in NYC BUT I KNOW that the taste there with all the fresh (from the earth, from the sea, from the gardens) flavors are out of this world. Nothing you've used has been processed or refrigerated. You can't beat that kind of living. I'm jealous now lol
Hi David i'm still watching the trinidad videos, happy to see you're exploring the caribbean and the wonderful dishes. So excited for you enjoy beautiful Guyana. We welcome with open arms🇹🇹🇬🇾
Last time I visited Guyana was 1971. I am familiar with many of the fruits and the foods. Pepperpot also tastes good with pigfoot(...aka pig trotters) and pickled pigtail. I am glad you finally reached Guyana. I watched all your Trinidad and Tobago videos. During the dark years, there were severe food shortages in Guyana. It is reassuring to see the abundance of food products now, and the people thriving.
David I want you to have a great time I am very interested in seeing this country I never seen it before so thanks once again for showing us something unique and interesting and I can't believe that you just get there and everybody's handing something to eat and show you and tell you about their country and what you could buy and this is gray you should be honored and you are very very fortunate man more than you'll ever know I can't wait to see the whole video and enjoy the food which is the most important thing besides the culture have a great time David peace ☮️🇺🇸
I am loving this already. I have not seen anything about Guyana, but I am looking forward to know the culture and country in these videos. Food in the video looks delish
I left Guyana as a child 30 years ago. I don't always get to eat the delicious food, and I do miss it terribly. I try to cook a few things once in a while, but I do miss authentic Guyanese food.
My parents left Guyana in 1986 when I was 10 years old I'm 47 years old today and I don't miss a goddamn thing cuz I live in New York City we get every product there is a Guyana
Glad you went to the Markets....the fruits vegetables fish ....just beautiful...Also was great to know the History of Bourda Market. Also the pepperpot and Metemgee looked really delicious. A very informative video of Guyana's foods .....looking forward to more, Thanks David and stay safe.

What a great start off to this series. Lots of familiar food stuff in the market, If you grew up in the carribean. Good food at the cafe. Enjoy watching 💕😊
Rum punch in two mouthfuls....only David , also sip from the bowl of pepper sauce. Love that you finally made it to do the Guyana series. My home country, left a long time ago, but still have all the memories of Bourda Market, Stabroek Market also. Have fun. Missing all that good food.
No, on the accent. I have Ghanaian friends... their accents are markedly different! The Black chef seemed to have spent some time in America... his accent is not fully Guyanese.
Wow amazing,,, everything looked delicious, I ate the pepperpot and the egg Ball already, the Metemgee is similar to our oíl down and the cherries is actually like ours. That drink with the pasión fruit I think I tasted it through the screen. What a great start to the series.
David, you have a strong stomach for a foreign man boy! You don't say no to trying everything yet your digestive system is not playing up the spice, fruit, rum, meat, fish all and everything you do not hesitate to gulp down within the space of a few hours😀
Totally enjoyed your vlog. So happy you enjoyed Guyana and all the food. Everything looked delish. Hats off to the chef at the backyard cafe. Do visit again. Love from Florida.🌺
Love the video David Job well done all the food looks delicious from the way you ate tells me you enjoyed every thing Chef you did an excellent job explanation on was good too also your preparation of the egg ball also David was good with his egg ball David look forward for another visit another time thanks for sharing my friend ❣️🤠 stay safe
I never knew you will go to in popular countries also but good videos David I love the vids but this video was very interesting then the Indian food vids (I’m an Indian)
You would be right at home in Guyana as Indians make up about 40% of the population... and they came here about 180 years ago. You know what else you will also love... the Indians in Guyana have also eliminated the caste system. Nobody cares, thinks, or talks about caste. In fact, no one here even knows what the caste system is unless they happen to study Indian history! Every Indian in Guyana has the same status as every other Indian!
hey David I enjoyed that video with you in Guyana so happy to see like somebody different go into our country and enjoy the food and the culture thank you 👍🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾
Great video.. However, a disclaimer - Limacol is not like Robitussin, you cannot ingest Limacol; Its only to rub on your skin... anyways, love that eggball with mango sour, my mouth was watering and its true about the pineapple - sweetest I've ever eaten... Eggball is way better than doubles.. hahaha.
We had several of these snack and food on our channel made from scratch. We will recreate and repost them, you got me hungry in a instance David. thanks again for showing our beautiful Guyana 🙌🏼🇬🇾🍻
In the Philippines we call Five Fingers Balimbing. 😊 if you love that kind of sour you will love our green carabao mangoes (unlike what looks like our Indian mangoes there) here. 😁
Your words for your fruits are familiar but for different fruits in Guyana. The other name for the five-finger fruit in Guyana is Carambola... while Balimbi is another name for the very sour green fingerlike fruit that we call "souri" which was also shown in this video.
I'm sorry, but you need to taste our five fingers. It is absolutely sugar, nothing bitter about it. We do have bitter ones too, but we make pepper sauce with those
My grandfather and grandmother came from Guyana and so did their parents and so on, plan on visiting the country one day but it's always looked amazing to me, amazingly underrated from what I've heard
@@BilnaMan Lmaooo 😂😂😂 so I just realized you were insulting me. Ma’am/Sir whatever you are. I’m very aware of where Guyana is. My husband was born and raised partially there. My mother-in-law and father-in-law full on Guyanese! I simply stated my preference for Guyanese food and wished for it to be more readily available in the states much like we have plenty Jamaican spots to choose from. Please try to be less negative in your life. ❤️
Panda cooling. You late with that comment about South America. We know where Guyana is geographically. However it is culturally Caribbean and always was. People like you just come off rude and nasty for no reason. I'm not guyanese and I agree with her. Guyanese food is very diverse with lots of options and it's tasty too.
Lovely food adventure I'm happy to see the versatility of coconut being highlighted. 🥥 🌴 🍹🇬🇾 *How many times was the word "coconut" mentioned in this video? Let's count 😅
Much respect to Caribbean cuisine on a whole; however, my last wish dish would be Guyanese hands down!!! I strongly believe that the genuine hospitality of Guyanese people resonates in their food!!!
En la bola de yuca frita en vez de huevo fuera más rico con queso ❤o chicharrón 😅 I love fried cassava balls 👌👌🤤👌 so crunchy fluffy and yummy ❤ delicious 🤤
