The longer grain of rice is more popular and grown in the northern parts of India and the short grain rice is grown and eaten in the southern parts of India.
@nidhi2693
@nidhi2693 Год назад
i think that's not a bad generalization but it's not completely accurate. hyderabad is in the south but biriyani almost always uses basmati or long grain varieties. i'm from gujarat which is technically neither north or south but we typically eat short grain more often than long grain. i just love talking about food and food culture so i'm just trying to have a discussion. if you have other observations, i would love to know more!
@rajkumarmarichetty2737
@rajkumarmarichetty2737 Год назад
@@nidhi2693 Yes that is true but I think Gujarat and Hyderabad are exceptions. Hyderabadi Biriyani uses long grain rice because it was originally derived from Iranian dishes where long grain rice is regularly used but no one uses long grain rice for regular Andhra Pradesh dishes. As for Gujarat I don't know much about the state.

Gulab Jamun is too sweet for me too and I am an Indian...I have a "spicy tooth" btw😂😂😂😂 I think Koreans use small granules of rice which sticks together when cooked and also maybe it would be more convenient to eat with chopsticks..dont know But here in India we have long, thin, small, big every type...and our rice should be "khile-khile" as called in India [hindi]...they should not stick together. If it sticks, it may be not cooked well or the proportions r wrong...here in Eastern India we have big granules of rice which should be cooked like this..dont know abt other parts...

Note - not only jamun one can find the sugar rush on all other dishes ex - jalebi,ras malai,barfi,laados, cakes,pastries etc etc. (Don't mind folks I ain't born into that environment, I only like cheesecakes, sandeshs and dhoklas as a dessert.
