Trying Lip Art On My Boyfriend 

Holo everyone it’s me Cristine again. We filmed this video a week ago and it did include some reflection on the Tati and James Charles situation, but given how much that situation has evolved it didn’t feel right to include it in an otherwise fun and lighthearted video. I see a lot of people asking me for my opinion on the drama, so if you’re interested, here are my simply momlogical thoughts: First, I should acknowledge that I consider Tati a friend and I think her and her husband James are two of the nicest most genuine people Ben and I have met in this industry. I believe that she did this because she thought it was the right thing to do. In terms of the allegations of inappropriate behaviour, this shouldn’t even have to be said but it is absolutely not okay to try to pressure or manipulate someone to do something sexual that they don’t want to do. And if someone uses their celebrity or online fame to do that, that’s a really gross thing to do. That aside, I think this is an example of what can happen when a young person gets a big ego from becoming famous on the internet. I think people whose main objective is to be famous, who define themselves by their number of followers, or who are constantly looking for the next big celeb to work with to elevate their social status, are never the best role models. Yet there are many successful people on RU-vid who embody the worst qualities of internet celebrity, and they are rewarded with millions of subscribers, brand deals, and shows on MTV. At the same time, it’s pretty disappointing to see people really enjoying James Charles being ‘cancelled’. We should be able to be disappointed in someone’s actions and criticize and call out their bad behaviour without wanting that person to be destroyed. I hope one day James Charles can look back at this situation and say that it made him a better person and a better influence on the millions of children that still look up to him. At the end of the day, who you support online and make famous is up to you. There are a lot of talented people on this platform that are good people whose main goal isn’t purely self-serving, and we should elevate them instead of rewarding people we don’t consider good role models.
