Using collagen as an aid in wound healing is very well researched and proven to increase wound healing (in deep/very big wounds) by substantial amounts and less scarring, not sure how much it helps on intact skin though🤔🤔🤔
Esthetician here! Topical collagen doesn't do squat - BUT! You can get powder collagen (there's 5 types, you want 1 & 3) that you put in your coffee (and it's delicious) in the morning and THAT works. About $20 for a month supply!
Yeah lol my dad has lost most of the collagen in his skin and it's irreparable so all skin care with collagen is really funny to me now. Like cool this is a FULL scam.
I talked to my dermatologist about these when YT started recommending shorts of people using them. She laughed for five minutes then said "I wish I thought of a scam like that, I would be a millionaire by now" 😂 But to be clear, she said the only way collagen can actually be "absorbed" is by eating it, in the shape of pills, capsules, even gummies! Anyways, for all products related to skin, you should definitely talk to a professional first before buying anything, determining whether a product is actually the right product for you should not be something done so easily. That's definitely why I hate influencers that assure you that something will work for you. Everyone is different 😅 I for sure with my sensitive skin would not put anything on my face unless my dermatologist said so
It is satisfying but the majority of beauty products do not help your skin and just sit on top of it. For anybody that reads this. I used to have a whole skin care routine with nonsense. Now I only use a neutral cleanser (sometimes just hand soap for sensitive skin) and Nivea cream and sunscreen. My skin has never been this good in my entire life. Part of my happiness is also realizing and accepting that pimples are literally normal. I still get upset when I get pimples or a new wrinkle. But pimples are either hormonal due to the period or when I know I have been bad and kept touching my face with unwashed hands. (Caused by bacteria). About the wrinkles: getting them means I'm aging if I didn't id be concerned😅 (I seem to age a little faster due to childhood trauma causing huge amounts of stress) so self love or self confidence is nonsense but if we stop believing into beauty companies fixing our issues then we can get a bit closer to self acceptance, which is much easier to achieve. To everybody that is struggeling: You don't need to waste this much money for beauty. Get three items that work and keep it up every day.
23 and seeing wrinkles here. To be fair I had an extremely traumatic childhood due to chronic illness and medical abuse. Plus bad sleep due to trauma and chronic pain. Trauma aging gang lol.
And eating raw liver (cubed and frozen) can fix some acne due to high B vitamins (niacinimide and panthotenic acid, etc) and dry brushing skin can help the circulation and reduce skin issues) and Zinc/Vit C as stress and sugar/carbs deplete zinc and vit c stores. Sleep is super important and a huge issue with CPTSD, I use medication and it helps me fall back asleep easily (Trazodone, an old school anti-depressant) and this has saved my life, tbh. I had to buy it myself after I read about it online but now my psychiatrist prescribes it, after my gaslighting sadistic GP (she wants me to do unnecessary pelvic exam even though she knows I have sexual trauma and I said to her that she wants to rape me and she still insists) tried to make me go off those pills cause she hated the fact I found help by myself and she is incapable of believing what I say about my body. Sorry I digress, I meant to say, did you know humans and guinea pigs and some primates, iirc, are incapable of making our own vit C but other mammals make their own? 😭
So relieved to see all the comments confirming that topical collagen doesn't do anything. Stop wasting money, folks! This kind of industry is unregulated and can make any claims they wants as long it doesn't cause harm (other than wasted money)
When I was pregnant and doing a ton of research to avoid stretch marks, (there are so many stretch mark creams out there) I finally realized I just had to consume protein with collagen.
Vitamin C helps the body produce & process collagen, both ingested & topically, but that's an entirely different animal - your skin is still doing its job to handle the external agents & deciding how to deal w/ it, not just letting it penetrate straight through.
Some topical products are extremely effective at being absorbed by the skin & going into the bloodstream, topical glutathione & testosterone for example can be even more effective than some oral forms
By definition cosmetics can not penetrate into the lowest layer of our skin. Medication can. Cosmetics can somewhat plum up and nourish, but as collagen is subcutanious... yeah. But definitely a feel better treatment. The Dollar Tree has patches for $1.25 and as a weekend spa treatment definitely a wonderful thing.❤
I don hink it absorb into your skin. I think it kinda just sits in any nooks and crannies or crevices that might need filling. Like a pore filling primer but better because you don't have to wear makeup over it. I think
@@angeecelinova7760 I mean even hydrolyzed collagen is too big to be absorbed into the skin so thee is nowhere else for it to go other than just sit on top of your skin. You have to eat collagen/protein or it to get into your skin. I mean how else could it work
i think this is a lost woods cover by the super guitar bros. if this isn't it, it sounds almost identical to the cover. i would definitely recommend their legend of zelda covers, they're really good!
I know you won't read this but you are so cool and beautiful you mean the world to me and I love you your body is perfect and you have the best humor you have me laughing so hard I think I going to die I love you
And does anybody on RU-vid want to see Saf putting toilet paper on her face? I mean if anybody could make it work it's her but Content creators gotta create content that people are going to like you know
I feel like you need one of those rollers that puts holes in your skin first and then use these.. but neither of those things I would do as this shit ducks your skin up and makes you look 90 at 30, if you don't wear makeup (foundation, contour etc, eye makeup is fine) and wash your face with just water or mild soap that's honestly the best thing you can do for your skin
@@lucasgarcia8285anybody can go an aquarium that allows you the pet the rays. Anybody with a solid job and a good financial plan can purchase an aquarium ticket. Not just rich people. Lol
@@safiyashortsIve always wanted to try these but they’re more of a gimmick, because the skin can’t actually absorb collagen. Its cheaper to use collagen tablets or pills that can help the skin that way. They do seem fun to use tho 😄
Hydrolysis on collagen eventually will just break it into its individual amino acids which need help crossing into your cells. That means your cells will ignore it unless it’s something they need. Also once it gets in the cell it can be repurposed and usually collagen production is not high on the list.
i have a disability that means my body doesn’t make enough collagen so my body is very weak and someone genuinely sent me the link to these things saying they might help cure me….
you can get just collagen needles injected, my mum is a nurse at oftalmology clinic and they do minor cosmetic treatments, and she gets them sometimes. and boy, she always looks like someone punched her
Safiya, one of the reasons I like your content is that you’re never just about the hype. You do the research and include what you find, like here with dermatologist’s objections to the product. Thank you for that! It keeps me sane.
Hey! I am a certified dermatologist in the US, and it is hard to get collagen small enough to absorb in the skin. What you heard is true! Also, collagen can Be most affective if it is ingested. Although I don’t recommend eating these.
