Also, Sherry, the holographic disappears bc the effect comes from very small angled cuts into that layer of resin. You aren't wiping it off, but a very subtle amount of paint particles (even though unseen) fills those little cuts which are needed to be holographic!

It seems that the 'dry brush' works well, and may take longer at first but has nice results. Thanks for sharing your talents.

I had the same experience with a coaster that had a design on it. I found it was slightly better if I put mica on it before pouring resin. I saw someone do a little mold like this but she wasn't worried when it didn't come out so well. I think yours came out terrific. You can handle fiddly stuff like this. I was tempted to throw it out a window or into the trash. LoL. I just want to pour, unmold, and be done with it. I love watching you make flower blooms with alcohol inks and put it in a pastry bag and all that. your peacock one is amazing.

These are so pretty! I have a tip for you: use a flat spreader to apply paint and push into recessed areas and scrape most off the surface. Then, when dry use a flat, smooth towel with no "teeth" or texture at all and gently wipe flat over surface to remove paint from top surface. It was tricky at first for me, but I watched a LOT of videos, and this seems to work the best (for me, anyway). I hope this may help make it less of a pain for you. Thanks for showing these! I love everything you do. Happy Creating!!!

Hey, Sherry. We use Rub'n Buff with a little mineral oil to remove. Works really well. I learned that from me grandfather and uncle; they were jewelry engravers and used that to color imprints. Works really well.

Well dear Sherry, while a sherry wine may not technically be considered ‘fine wine’, and most are ‘dry’, all sherries are considered fortified and few are sweet like you. So, you’re strong and sweet!

Maybe an easy way is to use a big sponge wet with paint and dip it (think like giant ink bad for stamping) & then after it dries, clean any with a tiny paint brush in acetone or alcohol?

I would recommend to do inlay first. Because holographic is made by lots of shallow fine groves. That's how it works so if you rub and infill after your going to fill the very fine invisible groves which create the holographic effect if that makes sense. It's like creating holographic coasters then adding a top coat. The top coat will fill the holographic effect fine groves up cancelling the effect out. I hope this makes sense. So as a rule when you use holographic molds never add anything to the holographic surface or you'll lose it. But nice molds just do the inlay first very carefully and slowly. I use me silicone/ball pin head brushes which have a silicone brush end and metal ball tipped at the other end of the brushes . £6.99 on Amazon in the UK they have blue handles white silicone tips and silver ball point tips which don't damage your molds by scratching. But they look great anyway they would make anyone envious when they see your tree and it's beautiful hand made resin art trimmings/decs 😉👌❤️ X ❤️😍🥰X 👌

I love your work! I have this mold and a similar Christmas design mold with penguins and other Christmas shapes in it. I was so pleased to see you do a video on this because you gave me the answer on how I was going to fill in the indentations! The only thing is unfortunately there's no link to the paints you used and you can't get the 6oz matte finish modern masters paint from Amazon or any other place in those colors. Do you happen to have a link for Modern Masters Matte Finish or would using the Metallic Modern Masters paint work in satin finish? Sorry for the long post and thanks to anyone who tries to help!!
