Long before RU-vid, Oprah did a show called "Being As Cute As You Can Be". When I saw it I immediately thought about my mother. She got up every single morning and "fixed" herself up. Hair, makeup, outfits....she was so cute. I learned so much from my mother and I just hope I do her justice LOL...I think your mother does the very same thing - every day she's as cute as she can be! I've been so sad because I thought your palettes (especially the "needs") had gone away. I've not been in a Target in over a year. I probably had 5 or more in my stash at one time - I loved it so much that I gave them away as gifts to friends who liked my makeup!!!! I think it's the perfect palette to travel with and for every day. Love you and tell your mom hi from me. xoxo patti. 🌸🍃

I know. I teared up too. My mom was so much like her mom. Always had her hair and makeup done. My mom had the best style of anyone. She is so missed in my life. She was always nurturing and every time we talked in person or on the phone the last thing she would say is I love you precious. I miss that!!!!

My mom has never worn makeup or cared about her hair a day in her life but she reminds me so much of your mom. My parents are 65 and still doing full time foster care of young children, they have 5 under 10 years old right now. But if my kids call their Nanny she is right there, picking them up, dropping snacks and gift cards off. As a single mom with 5 kids I don't know what I'd do without Nanny and Papaw there to pick up the slack. She's currently stuffing 500 eggs for the annual backyard Easter egg hunt that is just mine and her kids. 500 eggs y'all

I have never seen my very Texan mother in law without makeup or having her hair all done.. I’ve stayed at their house and gotten up at like 6am, hoping to see her... nope. She walks in from her morning walk fully made up... I swear.. one of these days I’m gonna catch her!!!! 😂 it’s been almost 20 years... 😂

Awww Emily, when you were talking about your Mama in the beginning I could see your eyes shining and hear in your voice how much you love her. I'm so incredibly lucky to have one of those special Mamas too. We lived cross country for 30 + years, but she finally moved back last fall. We've missed out on so much time together! I'm working on trying to focus on the situation now. She lives 5 min away. So I'm praying to let go of my devastation (not trying to be dramatic, just couldn't think of a word that describes my feelings better) about all the lost years. Especially with my kids. That was hard not having her close during that period in particular. Anyway, I was trying to say "Aren't we blessed to have such wonderful women to love and shape us! ❤

Sounds like mom is goals. My grandma is the same, has to do hair and makeup every day. One time I came to visit my grandma with a 4 month old and asked me why I didn’t have my makeup on. I told her I was tired and she said “no you need to make time and put on your makeup” 🤣👏👏

Loved hearing you talk about your mama. I lost mine a year ago March 5 and miss her terribly. Like your mom, mine was always put together with hair, makeup, and outfits. When I was 13 or so, and started getting interested in makeup, she took me to the Clinique counter in Dillards and had them teach me how to apply makeup, (I remember her blending a lot of my friend's foundation when they would come over. lol!) and about the importance of skincare. I am now 53 and those lessons have been carried throughout my life. Thanks for sharing this. :)

I have been living in a medical facility for almost 3 years with health challenges and I can't tell you how much watching channels like yours has helped distract me and cheer me up. This was a sweet, special video for many reasons, but mostly because the words you used to describe your mom are pretty much the same ones I’d use to describe my late mother-in-law, who passed suddenly in October 2019. We had to hold her service later in the day so all the teachers she worked with could attend, and the youth program at her church named an annex after her in honor of her good works. But she was so much prouder of being a mom and a Gigi, and we all miss her greeting her babies or calling “Michael!” after my father-in-law in her slight southern drawl. She didn’t wear makeup, but thank you for making me smile thinking of her and learning about your beautiful mama as well. ❤️

This series is SO heartwarming! It is a beautiful way to stay connected to people we love and admire, especially in these social distancing times. Beauty routines can be such a personal, custom, intimate thing. I encourage everyone to ask their loved ones whose looks they admire what they use. My grandmas passed away years ago, but I remember by dad's mom being very experimental with products. When I see the Maybelline foundation stick and Jane Iredale, I think of her. On the other hand, when I wear Maybelline Lipstick in Tea Rose, I think of my mom's mom, who was voted most beautiful in high school. My best friend in college was a colorful eyeliner fiend, owning everyone made by Nyx. I think of her when I do a sparkly electric blue or olive green liner. As a very young child, I remember my mom keeping her makeup in a gallon size ziplock bag, with tubes of Bobbi Brown lip gloss (gifted from her older sister) floating around. When I wear these things, it makes me feel like they're around me! This series makes me think of all of those beautiful people and warm memories.

I love this series! Please keep it going, you could feature other relatives, friends, heck even moms from mommy groups, the point is to focus on what many REAL women of the world are doing to start their day off, and what products are responsible for enhancing the face of the person that wears it. Like, when we see your mom what shades of lipstick as brand are we seeing on her lips, that kind of thing. It’s interesting to fellow makeup nerds 😊

You started video talking about your mom and I immediately teared up. I have always wanted this with my mom. I have tried so hard for many years to get there but that’s not something one can do alone. I’m 43, have found myself not pushing as hard as I did for so long. My heart never wanted to accept it wasn’t possible. Having a therapist tell me that I needed to accept that she isn’t capable. It has taken me years to start to accept it. My heart still doesn’t want to accept it. It has brought many feelings of inadequacy in me. I have never felt good enough, since childhood. I envy those that have such close relationships with their mothers. My sister, who was almost 11 years older than me passed in 2016, she was a month from her 50th birthday. She was such a mother figure for me. Taught me so much, about being a friend, a woman, wife, and a mom. She was my confidant. We had each other, supported each other. Losing her has been very difficult. I miss her everyday. Losing her has been heartbreaking. What an absolutely lovely tribute to your mom, who has raised 2 lovely women (both incredibly talented and kind) and also nurturing her grandchildren as well. How amazing. ❤️

Your mother is gorgeous!!! Her complexion is smooth, bright and fresh. She has an old Hollywood era look about her. A classic beauty!!! I absolutely love the way she brushes her hair back and gives it that lift. It is a lovely soft effortless look. It would be wonderful if she did some hair tutorials!!! My MIL was our main caregiver when our kids were young, I am in healthcare and I would get calls at 5:30 am and Gayle would come over ( lived next door ) and be there when Taylor and Hayden woke up and get them ready for me , was a game changer and we were so fortunate, when we moved she still came over .

When you were talking about how your mom was the best a kid could ask for (~1:50), you started to get emotional, and it was the sweetest thing. I also think I had the best mom in the world. She was a classic beauty too, without wearing any makeup. Whenever someone tells me I remind them of her, I take it as an immense compliment. So, with that in mind, your mom sounds just lovely as a person, inside and out. And you remind me of her. :)

I love that you have such a good relationship with your mom, my fiance is the same way and I'm so grateful for it. When your mother is a toxic person it really messes with you and leaves you struggling for the rest of your life to figure out "why" while trying not to internalize it. It's a wound that never heals.

Your mom is so beautiful, just like you and your sister, Pup, Emily! Made me think of my mom (lost her the day after Christmas in 2005). She always had her best face on, hair was done. Even if she just went to the store for something quick, she was at least dressy casual and put together. I've barely started the video and I'm already misty, lol. Good tears, though, because having wonderful, loving moms like ours is a blessing, always!

Gosh your Mother is absolutely gorgeous! My mom did hair for 30 years, my grandmother had her own salon for 45 years, my aunt was a beautician for 30 years and did Priscilla Presley’s hair when she and Elvis were married, and my uncle owned a salon as well. Loved this one! I have been wanting to see videos including your mom for a while. I am right between your ages. Your description of her always being together but home for me. After losing both my parents I went to live with legal guardians when I was 14. I was a tomboy who didn’t wear makeup and had almost no clothes. My “step-mother” introduced me to all things beauty related and clothing and created a monster:). When she died a few years ago we found a very detailed note about what she wanted to be buried wearing including details about jewelry, makeup and nail polish. The last line said “I know I’m vain:).” Still one of my cherished memories of a lady who was beautiful inside and out.

One more thing, your community adores you because you are just so sweet and kind. You are not a fake or self absorbed. You do this for all of the RIGHT reasons because it simply brings you joy and I really love that about you. You have such beautiful character that was passed onto you from your parents and I can certainly tell you are bringing up your little cuties the same way.
