I love all of your videos, but this was one of my favorites. Please keep this attitude lol! I love how honest (and sassy, looking at you Shinchi 😉) you both were here. My partner and I have a running joke where whenever you say "it's not bad..." we both go "but it's not good." I literally cackled when you actually finished the sentence yourself in this one!! 😂😂😂

You are an inspiration! My husband and I are planning on going to Japan next year and we are watching all your videos to get to know it better. We are in love with you both and with Japan.

Satoshi, I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this but McDonald's Hawaii no longer has saimin on their menu. The Okahara Saimin company closed after nearly 90 years in business. We are hoping that they can make a deal with another local supplier. On a good note, 7-Eleven Hawaii does offer saimin made locally by the Warabeya USA company.

It's uncommon that you find the food so unsatisfactory. It's fun to see Satoshi trying not to be negative in his comments. :)

Looking at satoshi's cooking videos, butter mochi is just 1 of the many dishes he's good at. His dishes always looks oishi! 😋😋

We recently had a poke bowl place open near us. We were so excited, we got bowls 3 times in the first week. Very tasty, but not quite the same as Hawaii and we weren't sure why. Salt! SALT! And the shoyu is a little wrong too. 😅 But it's close. Close enough that we still get bowls pretty often. We are so afraid the place will close. It's very new and different for this area full of chain restaurants, pizza, and americanized Chinese food places.

You know, Becky, along with expressing your desire for their long-term success, it might be worth it to mention Hawaiian salt to the owners as a way to up the authenticity of their already good poke. It's easily accessible and has a l-o-n-g shelf life. I have some Pa'Akai Inc., Alaea Sea Salt that must be 20 years old, and it's still usable.😅

I was in Kauai recently visiting family and I remember I was spending each day at my favorite places and kept putting 711 off figured id get to it eventually. The days came near till I was gonna leave in a couple days so i stopped at 711 before diving was just gonna get a few musubis and some hawaii unique stuff just to do it. Ended up buying 2 of everything in the warmers, it was like 40 bucks worth of stuff ended up being my breakfast lunch and dinner haha.

ALOHA 🌺 Satoshi and Shinichi, this was a special treat. Having just been to Hawaii where the food is rich and plentiful in portions. Its ok to feel a little let down with the flavors today. But I guess there is always room for improvements which l love about your reviews . And Japan is quite willing to listen and adapt for tourists which is excellent. I personally loved the whole idea and concept of today's selection ✨️ 😍. Thanks 💛 for the experience.

I would settle for this quality convenience store food over what we get in my country! I wouldn't expect it to be really authentic, even in Japan but it seems like they tried. The onigiri looked quite tasty!

Such an awesome food review, exciting that 7-Eleven is bringing Hawaii's flavors to Japan, my son went to Japan over 11 years ago and loved 7-Eleven's food, he and his friend loved so many foods in Japan, and one day I think he might move there, he speaks and writes Japanese, and if he did I would love to visit him there. I have always loved your food review videos, you both are enjoying the foods and desserts so much and that gives me joy, love you both, sending love and hugs, bye for now.🥰💜

What’s funny about this is that the 7/11’s in Hawaii have some of these items on a regular basis, but it looks nothing like the ones you two have tired. Especially the mochiko chicken. Lol

Interesting, I guess because Hawaiian food has a lot of Japanese influence, they figured it would do well back in Japan too. They should have Japanese 711 snacks all over the US.

As a Local Hawai'i girl who has lived in Japan, I don't think I would buy any of the "Hawaiian Food" at 7-Eleven in Japan, except maybe the onigiri (which is not anything authentically found in Hawai'i). Nothing really looked good to me and I agree with Shinichi's and Satoshi's opinions. I wonder if 7-Eleven could make some kind of deal with S & S Saimin to sell their products, or at least the dashi packets. I think it would be a big hit in Japan and make Satoshi very happy.

I love 7-11 Hawaii dishes. It is neat how you are able to cook the rice and noodles separately in Japan. For the saimin where is the spam? Lol. Have you tried 7-11 dishes in Hawaii?

You two get even more handsome as time goes on. I want your aloha shirt, Shinichi! 😄 The striking red and blue/grey pattern is so modern, yet traditional. And your vibrant blue aloha shirt, Satoshi, with its bright pink hibiscus and green monstera leaves and palm fronds, suits you perfectly! Do men still wear lavalava for casual wear in Hawaii, Shinichi? My dad always looked fabulous in his. I think it would be hard to be perfectly objective about the Japanese versions of Hawaiian food after just being home on Oahu. I agree with you both that obvious effort was made and 7-Eleven gets big points for that! And, tbh, compared to the food our mainland 7-Elevens carry, every one of these items looks delicious to me! They definitely should hire you as a consultant, Shiichi! Thank you for another wonderful video!!

Lol I can tell what's missing in the food.. what's in fried rice they use oyster sauce and msg that's what you tasting. locomoco they need to dump I mean dump grill onions that thing look like there was none lol that's why meat taste like pork. and butter mochi they need use chunkier coconut shavings... yah the thing is I think some was modified for health reasons so they made it that way..

I imagine for someone who is not a fine knower of local Hawaiian aroma in higher degrees than even most locals, they are excellent. For true learning the little steps are better, while they were at that phase 10 years ago. They didn't say it wasn't good, just not authentic ar maximum, like using salt from Hawaii, but who really does that?
@titasmom678
@titasmom678 2 года назад
Hmmm...maybe if you had not just come back from Hawaii, you may have given more favorable reviews to 7-11? But like others have said, 7-11 needs to hire the both of you so they can improve their offerings next year!

So interesting to hear about Hawaiian salt! I had no idea this was a thing. Poké is pretty popular the UK and Belgium but I must assume that they don't do it properly then. I think they just use sushi rice for the base.

Visually everthing looked very appetizing -- sorry to hear that the taste was just OK for you. But it's kind of good to know, that regional, freshly made food will always surpass the ready made stuff from the supermarket. For me the taste of the food also depends on the location: Even if I bring home my favorite treats from the holidays they will never taste as good as when I ate them there...

Hi Guys, please never go to 7/11 Aussie as disappointing.In Oz an Aussie burger 🍔 often means pineapple 🍍 slice which I dislike in savoury, especially tinned pineapple so shame not all was up to high standard but buy more fried rice as you enjoyed it, hopefully your mum visits soon& suspect you have planned another overseas trip,take care

I know the fried rice from Hawaii with more ingredients than that version shown, no dashi, often long-grain rice, oyster sauce (that was may be the flavour that irritated you) is used etc. Take care

Sounds like you really liked Pipeline Bakery's malasada. They must have used fresh oil this time. I tried it once and you could tell that the oil was old. My wife refuses to get their malasada now. I have to get a little nitpicky. I wish you hadn't called this video New Hawaiian Food. Poke was the only Hawaiian dish, the rest was Hawaii local foods. Some of the food did look good though.

@ 12:29 The expression on your face is priceless! Not demiglace and not gravy...then WTH is it? Hire someone from Hawaii as a taste tester? I doubt it. The Japanese never ask native English speakers to check anything, e.g. "...the train will go over a curve" "Thank you for riding with JR". The Japanese "borrow" and make things 和風. I think I'll pass on all of these, though my friend bought me a butter mochi aka bibingka which was 6/10. Not buttery at all, just OK...
