Nice results with the 10 stop and polarizer. I built refurbished around 60 bikes this year in my spare time. Good to know that periks even has trouble diagnosing a problem.
What a team! John fishing for fish and Rachel for great photos! Hope your bike is good for your challenge. Great cause. Thanks for participating. Good luck.
Not many A99 photographer out there. It's a joy to watch your videos. 12:20 yes, it was a nice demonstration of polarizing filter effect. 15:39 You took nice photos, sure.
Your video is reminding me that I need to use my filters more often - I still find them a bit intimidating. I'll be rooting for you in August. Glad to be sponsoring you in this wonderful challenge!
Really enjoyed the video and your use of filters. I learned a lot from this. Also, great cause. I’m a cyclist and have done several charity rides for fighting cancer. From what you indicated about the bike noise, I bet it’s the bottom bracket. Hope it is fixed now. Good luck with your challenge. Love your videos and your book, which I purchased last year.
I really need to remember to pull out my filters and use them. I have a whole set of NISI filters and they rarely come out of my bag. I need to change that especially with my Lee Big Stopper. It gives such a great look to waves on windy days. Great news about the bike challenge for kids cancer. I had a cousin die from cancer when she was three, it was devastating.
Rachel, you are doing a good cause, pray that everything will be fine in your riding journey. If possible do bring your camera along take some photos to share on your you tube channel. God bless.
Rachel, I wonder if you would consider doing a few more processing videos. I notice some very average posters on the FB page you set up, and I'm wondering if a few vids might make them reconsider their images and improve. I'm not sure I'm saying this right. :-( But it would be good for those who have come recently get to see that it takes a bit more than a quick point and shot to get good results. At the very least, education never hurts. Proud of your signing up for the riding challenge and it seems that's been an education for you as well. And, it's just good to see you back. Trev
I spent years in England fishing for Carp I spent a fortune on them made my own boilies, bought all the books, loved those days gang of mates bivved up for a few days at the lakes t bone steak on the bbq a few beers in the chilie bin if we caught a Carp we'd take a few selfies apply some clinique (some sort of healing ointment to the carps lips, dunno if it worked but we bought into the hype) then we'd carefully put the leviathan back into its home to fight another day. Happy saner easier lazy daze. Anyway back to the video....
Oh Rachel, new things SCARE me! Haha. My cousin inspired me to get a fisheye lens as her pictures are amazing. The problem is, I'm very much a realism photographer, so it's a massive step outside my comfort zone. I've taken loads of photos and they're all terrible bar one, the lens test of my car, which came out amazing. And you know what? It's amazing because I can discover a whole new world, and be totally crap at it! It's like getting back into photography all over again.
Great to see you again Rachel. Glad you left John to his fishing. That's a man's alone time lol. The scene you had was far from perfect and the light harsh but you did pull an image out of it. I'm not sure I would have bothered though. All that editing just for a mediocre shot. Best thing about the video is your challenge and your adventure. Good luck with it all and hope the bike stays together for you. When you said clunk I immediately thought thats the cranks. Loose or not seating properly so one or both will move every now and then. I've seen that before. Ok. Raise a ton of cash for them kiddies and see you next time.
that was a fun video ! I hope the new bike was sorted out! Quick question: I have heard that you need to close or tape over your viewfinder with a 10 stop. Was that not necessary? Did you calculate your exposure time with the app or another way? I have not experimented enough with my filters!
I've done tests while doing night photography on my D780 and if you hit the viewfinder eyepiece with your headlamp. you do get light leaks recorded on the image. Not sure how much you would see in a daytime shot but light definitely leaks through the viewfinder. Nikon gives you a little eyepiece cover since the D780 doesn't have an eyepiece shutter like my D850 does but I just use a piece of gaffers tape to cover it up
I should use my filters more. Yours look like a nice setup. Hopefully your bike is up and working like it should, now. That is a worthwhile cause for sure. Good petaling on that trip. If you have Amazon Prime, check out the movie “Collodion”. It is about photography and very interesting. Safe ride now.👍👍
Your comment about that perfect scene rarely appears is probably the first and the most important lessons beginners, as well more advanced photographers, must learn. Some never learn this lesson.
