What a lovely garden. I was amazed when you mentioned not having aphids but then remembered the temperature you showed because I'm dealing with high heat. My blueberry bushes are in their first year so your harvest was to die for!! But your video made me realize that gardeners are gardeners the world over!!

Hi Robert, you got a nice harvest of potatoes. Mine are starting to die back, so I will harvest in a week or 2 and then plant something else! We’ve been in a draught and just started getting some rain. Thanks 4 sharing & happy gardening everyone!!!!

Those Tomato Horn Worms 22:38 can easily been seen with ultraviolet light - remember when Gina and Al had them in their greenhouse? They bought some hand-held black light/ultraviolet LED flashlights that work well. I picked up one of those flashlights after seeing that as ultraviolet light can be used for other purposes, besides black light posters! Remember those? Great fun to have one in a dorm room or home to make one feel like a real hippy! Interesting that the mint helped to keep the bugs at bay! Nice episode, Robert - thank you for the treat! Hope the weekend treats you well and you get a chance to relax and smell the roses and or basil or mint!

Hello Robert, I love potato harvest thank you so much for that. That was a good one too. I’m in the midst of catching raccoons that are digging up my beauties in my garden. I caught a baby one, so I’m sure the mama will be around soon. It’s always something in our gardens isn’t there the sweet peas are divine right now I hope you have a great week.

Hi Robert and Haru. Garden looks great! I'm so jealous of the rain. We need rain very bad. It has been extremely hot here in NC. We have reached 100 F a couple times and no rain. But my garden is hanging in there. Of course I'm watering. Enjoyed the potato harvest. I grew them for the first time this year. I did not know they needed to be cured so thank you for video. Have a great upcoming week and send some of that beautiful rain our way!

It's such a beautiful garden!!! I set my partially ripened tomatoes in the windowsill. This time of year they ripen within a day or two. I do have some bananas in a rack nearby so that might hasten things.

Very nice harvest. I had a lime and lemon tree, but due to high heat last summer. I lost them. I'm going to try again, but in large pots on my patio instead in the ground. Enjoy your day!

Can you get Meyer 🍋lemons in Japan, Robert? They're my favorite. When I was still in my home, I'd make madeleines flavored with their juice & a little finely grated rind for special occasions. Guests loved them.

Good morning Robert and Haru 😊

Tomatoes hornworms eat tomato leaves. In nature this is not a problem because they prune the tomato plants. When we prune the tomato plants in a sense we interfere. Hornworms in general are of interest to me, because I was studying ways to garden in winter. Hornworms produce a type of moth that is very good at pollinating. They don't sting as bees do, so I selected a few for testing in what I call a "mini Chinese greenhouse". I selected the clearwing or bumblebee hawkmoth. This hornworm of the snowberry bush, an inedible decorative bush. I haven't been successful in luring them, probably because I have one small bush. Theoretically, the tomato hornworm or tobacco hornworm could be used, if you select only the male hawkmoth to release as pollinators. I have already tested the greenhouse, in a way. I only had a plastic popup greenhouse of 4 by 5. I kept my tropical plants in there through the winter. The Chinese greenhouse blanket, of which there are plenty of RU-vid videos is what made it work. It's a waterproof insulated blanket that goes over the greenhouse before sunset. This allows the greenhouse to retain its heat overnight. I kept a thermostat and it did keep it up to 20 degrees warmer. It worked most of the winter until we had a wind storm. I intend to test it again, but using hawkmoth as pollinators. I also intend to use a sand bucket on wheels, as sand can retain an enormous amount of heat and release it slowly. I intend to paint one metal bucket black, and add wheels so it can be positioned easily. I shall refashion a greenhouse blanket by stitching together some waterproof pet blankets. I may add columnar bubble wrap in between the blankets, with bamboo at ends so they are easier to roll up. The real Chinese Greenhouse blankets are made of heavy insulation or straw, but this would be far to heavy for me and my plastic greenhouse. The other aspect of growing in winter is light. WInter has less light here and more cloudy days. There are led streetlights that seem to emit more light than some grow lights. The red spectrum for fruiting plants can also be added. These are solar charging lights, and can alternate them between charging and run them to supplement daylight. Nightlights disturb the little bugs too much. I intend to hide the lights in some work of garden art exterior to the mini greenhouse. I saw one lady make a winding path and a bench with light fixtures on it, very cute. 🥰 I have very large tree white tree pots for my container garden. I will make a similar enclosure withe the bamboo I have, and greenhouse plastic. I will mulch around the base of the pot, and mound up the snow over the mulch, to insulate the base of the pot. 🤔. We shall see. Just know I don't really have time to do all of these things I ponder 😂 because I have to work. However, a garden girl has to dream. ❤ Diversity Love 💕
