My snake really likes empty ring binders. She tucks between the cardboard and the sides of the folder press on her body. I think she really enjoys the gentle force of the binder on her skin. I have three empty bidners around the room and ever since I put them there she ignored all the other "hides" I placed around.
Sargon really went "Where are my pheromones and what did you do with them" In regards to the legs, I was thinking they were to a degree an issue aswell in case the snake was burrowing around the buried hide and somehow got their face stuck between the two legs. Otherwise it is a nice hide but an option to have a base plate seems like a good idea to me still in case you need to remove the hide but keep the snake in it.
I added dig boxes to my hognose terrarium but he doesn't seem to like them as well as when his substrate was dirt/sand mix. He likes the jungle gym tho.
I can't take credit for this idea because I heard it from someone else at some point, I believe it was Bob Bledsoe, but when I look to see if an opening is a possible risk for a snake getting stuck I always want it to be big enough for the snake to fit through twice with room to spare. This is just in case the snake ever gets part way through the opening, but then doubles back before they get the rest of their body clear of the opening. But even with that consideration in mind this hide doesn't seem to be a huge risk for a snake getting stuck and I might have to get one some day!
