Trying Real Quebecois Poutine and a Cheesery

In Chapter 5 #Webisode 12 we take a leisurely drive through rural ‪@TourismeQuebecTQ‬ and stumble upon a #Cheesery or #Fromagerie as we try to learn to speak some French. The owner of Phylum, a newly opened Cheesery, was actually closed but he opened up shop to show us his cheese processing facility and store front. He explained the process, that starts with his Jersey cows across the road, and then gave us a #cheesetasting, explaining as much as he could along the way. We left with some goodies to eat later and directions to a place that served authentic #Quebecois poutine. We headed on down the road to La Fromagerie Victoria. Here we learned about the different types of #Poutine that we could order and we tried really hard to use our French. We had a good but 'squeeky' lunch and learned a little more. Then it was off to get settled in to go to #QuebecCity next.

Bravo! On trying to speak french! A++ The squeaking is all part of a true authentic poutine!! The louder the fresher!!! Cheese curds are in their own category of cheeses!!! You just inspired me for tomorrow's lunch! This made me smile!!! Bon voyage au Québec. I agree, the people there are like visiting lost family because they are so chalereux/ welcoming! Now you need to buy homemade spaghetti sauce in the grocery stores! My 2nd fav purchase after the fresh cheese curds!!!! Safe travels and you guys are AWESOME!!!

Believe me, the poutine you got was a real authentic poutine. The size of those cheese curds is unique in the region, along with its squeakiness. Have a great day ;).

We think you are right! The size of the cheese curds was big and the squeaking! That was so interesting. A side note as we are back in BC and had some poutine from a local fast food place the other day. There was no comparison, it wasn't even worth it so we will just have to go back to Quebec as soon as we can to get the real stuff I guess. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

The freshest cheese curds do squeak. Good poutine is fun. Of course that Creamery owner was polite. He's Canadian. I have usually been treated very well in your country. PS Loving this trip report from last fall. Makes me want to visit Canada again. Have to wait for the CoronaVirus to go away first though.
