don don don ki in japan vs singapore is sooooo different, i went to tokyo and visited those shops there, and they are fking huge like they literally occupy an entire building and everything inside is cheaper compared to singapore as well
@@naruhina012607 Annnnd it open 24 hr, what you need at any time is available to you It is cheap as well only of it is produced in Japan if from other countries is expensive They even sell adult stuffs as well on top floor
My favorite beancurd place is probably Selegie beancurd! They have a few branches around Singapore and i really recommend it! Also, an interesting combination many like is to dip the youtiao into kopi! Really interesting combination but really good at the same time!
Selegie bean curd is sooo underrated. And they have the best traditional bean curd in terms of texture and flavour. They have this option with brown sugar, red bean, and yam balls 🤤
@@hayleyhyj525 eh Im a chinese sgrean HAHAHAA. nv did that before. I know some people dipped youtiao in like coffee? Or is its an older generation thing? I dunno.
Omg this is my favourite supper spot! I used to come here often after late night movies pre-COVID! Rochor Beancurd is still open, but they have shortened their opening hours. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great job finding this spot! As a student in nearby SMU, we loved coming to this place at night to hang out. I've often seen guys pulling over in Lamborghinis and Porsches with hot companions just to get a bowl of beancurd.. yeah, at night. Good stuff, loved this place.
One of my best memories in college was to pop by that beancurd place for some desert after a long day of studying. Love your videos and appreciate your sharing of Singapore food/culture with everyone. Continue the great work!
The best bean curd is in block 91, Whampoa Drive (corner stall). Behind the stall, there is a stall with one of the best fried yu tiao and other fritters. Very popular market/food centre with plenty of good food. 😋
Tried this one as a post dessert to our meal in Aladdin's Castle last April 2022. As we were walking back to our hotel, we found this bean curd and ordered just one regular bean curd.. But would've loved to order more.. True enough still a lot of locals pull up, order and go.. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yes this beancurd stall is my fav, I used to eat here and hangout with my friends at night.. sometimes its very crowded no place to sit so we taobao and go lepak at opposite Lasalle school
Hi Ghib Ojisan For home-made 'tofu pudding' (Dou fu Hua, tau fu fa, 豆腐花) which you love, I buy Japanese made, Home Foods brand tofu mix (soybean curd mix) which packaged in a white box, inside there are 2 sachets. One sealed is soybean powder and the other a sachet of gelatin which helps the tofu +water mix to firm up. You just need to follow the 2nd instruction on the packet (where you add more water to the powder, mix and heat until it boils, add the gelatin like powder, cover with foil and leave it covered for 45 min). This can be served hot/cold, savoury or sweet. So delicious! May be you can make this to show your viewers how easy it is to make. I love your channel. Thank you so much
Interestingly you dipped most of the yummy stuff into the tao huay. I only had eaten 'you tiao' with tao huay. The 'you tiao' will go amazingly well with black kopi too. Try it! The rest of the items are tasty eaten on its own 👍👍👍
The softest and silkest beancurd I've ever eaten so far is 3S Beancurd City at Jalan Besar but you must eat it in the store. When I bought it home for my family, it became less silky.
I'm not sure if most locals dip all the food in the beancurd XD I think they're mostly just like side-snacks to eat together, but it's great that you discovered new ways of eating! I'll try it next time.
The discovery of dipping youtiao into beancurd is awesome.Do it the Ojisan way.In my opinion youtiao can be dipped into all type of sauces, gravy, beancurd or puddings.I have ever tried dipping youtiao into laksa gravy n it taste delicious. Thanks for sharing.
I've never tried dipping youtiao into beancurd, I think usually we dip it into soy milk but this looks interesting! The warm youtiao into the cold soymilk is my favourite combination. There's another Rochor Beancurd at Geylang too, some people prefer that shop. Maybe you can try that out and tell us which you prefer!
You should try out Fortune Centre, there's plenty of diners there serving local vegetarian food ! It's just to the left of Sri Krishnan Temple that you passed earlier on.
Ghib, can you do a vlog for 505 Jurong west hawker food? What’s famous there are the Hakka Ah Po leicha and Haoji Bao .. maybe more you can find out for your audience
It's near the PC bangs of peace centre. I used to go there after playing lan at night. It's the cheapest place in that area and it opens late. It also has a second floor that is air-conditioned. Perfect for poor students lol
Not quite beancurd related but would love to see you delve more into the history of the bugis area, it's really quite an interesting place! The surroundings of Rochor Beancurd (Short St, Wilkie Rd, etc) used to have a large Jewish community and you can still see the Star of David on a few buildings there
Ghib, you forgot to complete the whole thing with a cold soymilk they sell down there. because it is very heaty after eating all that fried stuff. So to finish that off with a cold soymilk ensures a smooth finish and climax to the entire thing. 😄
You should dip you tiao in warm soy bean milk. All these doughy snacks should dip in warm soy bean milk except curry puff and egg tart. You should try Meng Hui Satay Bee Hoon at Albert hawker centre.
Ghib-san might start a trend of dipping curry puff and egg tarts into hot beancurd lol! It's a good video makes me want to actually try dipping them next time haha!
Not everything need to dip in haha. 2 small one stick together side by side is called Butterfly. It is same as long one just with sesame seeds and a bit sweeter.
I usually tear the youtiao into two down the middle then dip in a hot beverage. The best is either kopi c kosong or soy milk. My favourite beancurd is those old school ones from hawker stalls but they're slowly disappearing :( 2nd fav is mr bean because of convenience.
Check out Sunshine Plaza nearby! It’s got a lot of great food, people go there for the dim sum and wanton noodles, and for me I go there for Gundams too 😅
you are too kind to say that the aunties are kind hearted. these mainland chinese aunties have the worst attitude in Singapore. I stopped going there because of them. Always had bad experience. Its as if I owe them something everytime I order stuff. Once one of them even raised her voice and black face at me just because I couldn't hear what she was saying because of her thick mainland chinese accent and I politely asked again.
I miss eating all these! You Need to walk off the calories after that😃. I have never heard of dipping anything in soya beancurd. Maybe dip in hot soya bean milk. definitely don’t dip curry puff in soya beancurd..haha..
Nice! Whampoa brand in most hawker centre only give you the soya soup and drinks, maxwell market can get you too but this bugis outlet is good and geylang lor 14 near aljunied mrt got an eatery.too. thanks for the soya deli review!
Yes is true this rochor bean curd outlet is indeed famous but not anymore. Those were the days they r really awesome and amazing with lots of local student's which is juz opposite there is a campus. As for now standard drops alot n i do encounter staff r very rude n is like u want u buy it or else leave it. Perhaps u may try the stall at jln besar n they really gives what u want in old traditional bowl if u were to say real hot bean curd rather then here which is pre-packed in plastic container.
