I actually make a custom blend of my favorite setting powders so I get the best of all the worlds in one application. I couldn't find my exact shade so I blended my favorite powders to make my shade , and it was the best thing I've ever done for myself. I use: BenNye, Dermablend, Danessa Myricks, and Laura Mercier. Thank you for thoroughly reviewing this product. This is what more people in the beauty community should be doing.🥰
I mostly see finishing powders used as a last airbrush step or to buff off loose setting powder. Loose setting powders have definitely improved and you don't always have to buff them away with anything but a clean brush now.
Hi. When you re-swatch the shades at 7:58 timestamp, you see why espresso is not right because of the grey undertone as a few other commentors stated. The Ben Nye shade is lighter than the espresso too so there's that too. I have used finishing powders before and some may have brighten (not too much😅) my face but as my oils seeped through throughout the day & it looked great. Now my skin is less oily & I don't enjoy layering anymore product than necessary.😊
Yup the powder is too cool and Ben NYE was not being compared to espresso. I definitely won’t be putting this over foundation it’s best to use it alone. It has too much pigment to layer it. I’ll try other finishing powders now. Which ones did you try before
I absolutely love the finishing powder for your concealer.. for your face it leaves a slight cast (11:12) before and (12:49) after. Maybe it's bc it looks cool on your skin in the video. Either way this was a wonderful product review. Rare Beauty does have work to do on these.
I absolutely see it, I but now it’s the opposite of the too bright look I saw in the first video so is it safe to say this powder reacts to whatever product it’s put on top of? It may be a better product for bare skin and not put over foundation
I personally LOVE the rare beauty side a lot more. i feel like it gives you a true soft glam glow and it's so perfectly soft and diffused. your undereyes have the perfect amount of highlight there imo, whereas i feel like the shape of the ben nye powder is a bit wide for my liking since it looks lighter. either way you look so beautiful overall
you're gorgeous!! i feel like the undertone of the powder is pulling a bit gray on you which i think is throwing me off because imo the finish is nice i hope rare beauty comes out with a shade extension with a warmer version of espresso
You're so beautiful 😍!!!!! The skin is glowing! My skin sucks in moisture so bad. I just love how dewy you look, that's what I be trying to achieve in my skin care. Finishing powders always work against my dry skin even when I prep my skin so I stopped using them but you always do your makeup so beautifully!

Now I don't know what to think! The first time, I didn't see any problems with brightening or anything. However, THIS time it looks like the powder got some kind of greyish/greenish cast after several hours. It didn't look good, which is a shame because it started out looking so nice! I think this is a fail, unfortunately. Maybe there's something up with the formula or something. I don't think YOU did anything wrong. P. S. The green/grey cast went away when you used it as a blotting powder, but something tells me it'll probably come back after a few hours. ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
If it were a gift with purchase it would be perfect to keep in your purse to blot or use on bare skin on the go. But otherwise there’s something else in the makeup bag that does this already
Last time I only commented the use. This time I’m saying that I don’t love the deeper color on u. The undertone is too… something. It’s a bit ashy in my opinion and it takes away from your beautiful warmth. That being said, it did diffuse in my opinion. I just wish they had a deeper shade that had more warmth. Ur makeup look came out amazing by the way. I’mma need that lip combo ❤
I thought the same thing thing (about it being too ashy or gray), but I wasn’t sure if I was seeing it wrong. With me being so fair skinned a lot of things I try can be too warm, but this product needed that warmth for her skin tone and it’s just not there.
Looks good to me, but the ben nye side looked better under the eye. I like the finishing powder on you though, the way you applied it this time looked better. The color didn't change. Will I be purchasing this product no. I like my Mac mineralized skin finish.
@Ohemaa I watched both of the Rare Beauty videos and I feel as though you should go back to using the powder puff for medium to full coverage. I noticed how the brush was giving light coverage over your concealer which causes the makeup to rise when it needs to be set.
I think it's the primer that's the problem. Idk like the color u used maybe sephia should have been for the whole face, idk. I like the opposite side better
I like how it looks but it’s not much different from normal so i feel like it’s an unnecessary product. Possibly you could use it as a step to set your foundation but i feel like it’s just an unnecessary step.
I don't like any product that needs a instructions manual, it's makeup I wanna wear bronzer as an eyeshadow and lipstick as blush! The brand said it's a multitask so it should be multitask
