Definitely not "a medieval torture device." In the 1970s, the Helena Rubenstein company had a mascara in their line with the same metal "brush". It was extremely popular and what I, and my makeup-wearing friends all used. If you know the best way to use it, you'll get great results!
Fun fact: Marilyn Monroes makeup artist applied her lashes so they pointed down. It helped give her that signature bedroom eyes" look ahead was famous for.
Marilyn had something called ptosis after blepharoplasty. It's a rare side effect after blepharoplasty. Kylie Jenner had the same thing after her blepharoplasty. Same eye ptosis.
When it comes to mascara brands, the East Asians do it well because they're targeting East Asian eyelashes which are very short and sparse. I tried the Maybelline Sky High mascara because so many white girlies recommended it but it just weighs down my lashes at the end of the day.
@@remingtonfrog3170im an Asian with pin straight lashes and i swear by heroine makeup’s advance film volume and curl mascara. I dont even need to curl them, they stand up by themselves
@@remingtonfrog3170 Heroine make also makes amazing (!!!) options as well! They have different versions (lengthening, curling, volumizing, etc.) and you know they mean business because they literally have a dedicated mascara remover to take off this bulletproof mascara (which is unfortunately a mandatory purchase). I personally use the long and curl version with the micro brush! I've tried quite a few other East Asian mascaras but I always come crawling back to heroine make. Would recommend if you're in the market for a new mascara! (mascara and remover is around $10-$15 USD each--try to catch them on a sale on Yesstyle for more $$ off!)
Yeahhhhhh my mom still buys the pink/lime mascara . She tried to use it the other week and I noticed it was super dried out and asked when was the last time she bought it and she said "oh gosh um late 90s" MOM!!! I went to Ulta and got her a new one
My jaw literally dropped on how well it works on Nikki's lashes. We all know how her lashes performed on mascara from the past. This shook me to another level
I remember my mom had metal rod as a mascara "brush" in 80s. I was wondering why they stopped producing it, because it was really great. And now they are back, as it looks like.
I remember some other company made them sometime in the late 2010s too, can't remember which one though. Idk makeup "innovations" always make comebacks eventually.
Tip for the eye lash curler.. I use a lighter and barely warm the metal.. it performs like a curling iron for your lashes.. just be careful not to get it too hot.. I use a baby wipe on the curlier to cool if it gets too hot. And also to keep it clean Between eyes
That makes ur lashes break off more often. I know cz I've tried that, my lashes do curl slightly but just at the ends and they're quite thick and heavy, more visible from the side. When I used heated curlers I didn't even need lengthening mascara since lifting them already makes a very noticeable difference. But then they started breaking off 💔
Pro tip: Get a battery operated eyelash curler. It heats up perfectly while they curl them so you don't have to worry about it getting too hot or anything. Two in one game changer. 😊✌🏼
I am 63 and I would not do half of the adventurous make up styles that you rock, but I am amazed at your skill and especially LOVE your personality! You are beautiful with or without the make up! I would love it if you hung out with me and my buddy! You are a hoot!
@@memeju1ceoh ya! I'm going into cosmetology school soon. Mostly because I just love making things pretty. I want to play with hair, makeup, and nails all day... But I really don't feel like doing it to myself most days lol. I do my hair most days but I don't have the time management skills to do my makeup the way I'd like to so I don't do it.
Cis guy here, I like to feel cute and pretty without going overly effeminate. I saw this short and tried this mascara and I've really loved it! It looks very natural on my lashes and doesnt feel overwhelming. Thanks, Nikki!
@@kat7047 Are you jelly that they have self confidence and you don't? Get therapy please, you need help. :( I'm so sorry that you hate yourself so much that you take it out on others. Please get some help!
Omg thank u for putting a regular mascara on the other eye, bc you really CAN see the difference!!! What an incredible formula and applicator, that’s freaking NUTS!!!
What's this secret hack you speak of with the spoon & waterproof mascara...??? Any way you want to share your hack with me..?? My lashes are thin, short and oddly stick straight out and they also drop just like hers do in seconds, with all mascaras!!
@@JustCallMeJessiElli it’s like curling ribbon with scissors except with a spoon on your lashes . Your thumb does most of the work , and it’s hard to explain without video but if you look it up there’s a few videos on RU-vid. 🙂
I'm a lash curler girl but same on the waterproof. They still slightly fall but if I curl and use regular, I might as well have not even curled them. Every single time.
Yeah I don't understand that lol she's reviewed many of the same products again and acts like it's the first time she's tried it. 😅 I don't get it even if it was for newer audiences lol.
@@momakesvids5704 I mean everything she posts would be for views anyway lol that's the point. But untill you watch it you won't know exactly what the video contains like what is said, It doesn't explain really explain it logically imo. People would still watch if she said she tried it years ago and seeing if she still likes it if it's the same brand ect.
In the ‘80’s, There used be a rod mascara made by Helena Rubenstien, which is no longer available in the USA. Found it traveling in Mexico & I bought EVERY one they had in stock! It also was magical for my drooping eye lashes! Thanks for this!!
Yes I own one. It was 100$ but a great tool for bottom lashes and getting in to get every single lashes. It was very lux, but actually works well with your choice of mascara. I just commented this on the thread. Glad I'm not alone. Still love mine, and now reminded to get it out and use it again!!
Mine was sold seperate just the rod. You could use it with their mascara or your favorite. And it was packaged separately and very nice. A forever tool.
THANK YOU for not pulling a Jaclyn Hill and making us look for links to products where she earns a commission !!!!!! You tell us in the comments ! She never could !
There used to be a Japanese mascara called Kiss Me Heroine Make Long and Curl Super Waterproof. (I’m not sure if the brand is KISS Me or Heroine Make.) but they changed the name AND the formula. It used to be dryer so it stuck to my lashes. Now it’s so thin that it can’t even hold my lashes at all. It was so perfect before! So sad.
i’ve got too much lash that are too thick and naturally hold a bit too much of a curl and let me tell you the reverse is weird too!! i’ve got to the point where i essentially *can’t* wear mascara even if i want too because i have too much lash for it. they get clumpy and weird and all up in my eyeballs and like sometimes i just want some mascara okay.
You should try a tinted lash primer, my favorites are IT cosmetics "Tightline" mascara and the Maybelline sky high mascara primer. I hate most mascara because my fine lashes clump any chance they can get with normal mascara, but mascara primers tint without adding anything so my lashes look fuller without looking clumpy.
I just started wearing makeup again after about 7 years. I'm a side sleeper and it has pushed my lashes all forward on the outside half of my lids. So mascara+off facing lash+long curly lash = a whole hot mess putting mascara on. Relatable.
Have you tried going back over it with clean lash brush or barrel roll it over top of eyelash. I'm not sure if your technique or what mascara you use but either that or for me to avoid clumps i try to get some of the mascara off the brush so the first coat is light or clear mascara
Tint your lashes, it's really makes a subtle difference! And you could get your eyelashes Permed. But stay with me, they can shape it to stay in a way your comfortable with! Then a bit of tint and you are gonna look like your wearing your perfect style of falsies/how you want them to look with mascara on 😍
I want to see Nikki do the “Best of Products” Best mascara, best lip pencil, best concealer, best lipstick,, I think you get it the best of the best!! “I want to save some money”😂😂😂
A 'few' years ago when my mother (r.i.p.) was a young lady , ( im 67 ) All the mascara wands were just like that.... that's nothing really new... 💙 They thought they were getting fancy with the brush wands.. 🤔😄
We’re gonna be giving a shout out to the ears because the way those heavy earrings are not making them droop can we get round of applause everybody?👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
you need to try more korean and japanese mascaras! They have great formulas that holds a curl. I have lashes like yours, and many East Asians have your lash type.
if you find your lashes short, vaseline is a very effective natural lash serum. My lashes grew from vaseline, and now my lashes are really long and pretty. 11/10, 100% recommend vaseline as a lash serum.
Neotrogena 400x volumizing mascara waterproof the best. I wear contacts and its just perfect . Removes very easy with just pamper fresh wipes Love it ❤
