Trying to BREAK PAR using a FULL SET OF HYBRID IRONS!!! When playing golf we always want to make it as easy as possible for ourselves. But when it comes to buying the most forgiving golf clubs we don’t even consider it half of the time. Using hybrid golf clubs can really make golf easier. The best hybrid of 2022 differs for each person. And the most forgiving hybrid golf club does also. In this video I play golf using the Wilson Launch Pad 2 irons… or should I say FULL SET OF HYBRID IRONS… can we break par? Let’s find out… and let’s do it now!

@wallstreetoneil
@wallstreetoneil 2 года назад
@@Blakuscus I disagree. I do a lot of practice at the range and I would put 90 percent of the golfers I see in clubs like that. It's actually the older guys, that grew up playing blades, and are used to thinner soled clubs and how they move through the dirt, that are fine with blades up to a 6-iron and then hybrids and 7-woods when they run out of speed.

So I’ll say this. I have the Wilson LP 2020 irons and I love them! 34 years old with 90-100mph swing speed. I broke 90 for the first time ever with these and even shot as low as +11. I absolutely love these irons. The best part for me to is the chipping. My PW is so easy to bump and run it’s ridiculous. I just started golfing in 2020 and did a lot of research. So glad I got these and would highly recommend them!

I'm 65, beat up, have had three back surgeries, and CANNOT swing normally any longer. I use a 3W, 5W, 7W, 9W, 6i-PW, SW, LW. I took the driver out. A good drive for me is 230-240 max. Using senior shafts, graphite. I am in the camp of use ANYTHING that helps you enjoy the game more or improves the score! Why not? I also agree, for young folks new to the game, use irons and learn the game first. For the fossils like myself? Game improvement equipment is a plus.

First time out with the clubs, nothing longer than a 5 iron (24 degrees?). Pretty good performance, especially when you consider that you really didn't have a good feel for how far the individual clubs fly, and you put yourself at a disadvantage on the longer holes.

I bought a set of these recently, to replace my Ping G425 irons. Feel like they have transformed my iron game and made me much more confident. Absolutely recommend them to anyone TBH. I'm 54 and got back into golf after a 20-year hiatus (was never that good and used trash clubs before lol). So I went with these and they are no magic bullet, but they certainly are forgiving and light. I'm quite a bit better than before, but I'm not sure how much of it is due to these clubs, and how much is due to having access to a lot more "free golf lessons" on youtube that has helped my mechanics. I suspect it's a lot of both. I also use the LP2 driver and hybrids (3-4-5). You could switch clubs down the road, but you could also play with these for the long haul too.

I'm glad you're doing reviews of SGI clubs and from Wilson too! Too many RU-vid golfers only do big brands and players irons that only fit a small percentage of golfers. One question: everyone says GI and SGI clubs are not workable. I don't understand the physics of those statements. Drawing or fading the ball is a result of swing path vs club face direction. Flighting the ball lower or higher results from shaft lean and ball position (forward or backward in the stance). None of that has anything to do with sole or face size. You proved you could shape the ball (both on purpose and by accident). So are all those who claim GI and SGI clubs are not workable just ignorantly regurgitating hype or am I not understanding what they mean by workable? The only physics I can really see is that the CG of a hybrid is further back and the CG of an iron is further forward. In drivers and fairway woods that affects spin and forgiveness. Shouldn't physics and math apply equally the same to hybrid/irons? Please explain the "not workable" perception.

As a Senior Golfer, I would bet a lot of Seniors would find these clubs quite useful! My Nike Slingshot irons are pretty close to hybrids. Even though I am not playing right now, bad lower back injury plus, my doctors don't want me doing outdoor activities when it's over 85°f...I would love to try them! I know my Nike's have helped me hit that ball as far as I was with my Lynx Black Cats...so I really haven't had to change my iron selection process. I know I would like to see you play 9 holes with blades from the 1960's or 70's with a Persimmon driver and fairway woods. You can use your wedges and putter! The first time I broke par was with my 1966 Wilson Staff Fluid Feel irons and my McGregor Eye-O-Matic Persimmon Driver, 2 & 4 wood. I carried my 5 iron - PW and SW with a Acushnet Bullseye Blade putter... early 1970's vintage! ( I still use it! )

I play full set of Wilson's and have through my last three sets of clubs. Really didn't want these to perform too well because I dislike them. You may have changed my mind. Working at a golf course I had recommending super expensive clubs to so many new players, ladies, seniors, or even long time golfers I know just don't work on their game. These might very well become my recommendation for these categories. Well, as long as boss doesn't find out I'm not pushing more expensive names. I haven't got these but going to ask my Wilson rep to bring them this summer during demo days. Thanks

Preferred the longer vlog. I use the Cleveland Launcher Halo XL irons with graphite shafts and find them similarly excellent for my 21 handicap senior swing. Clubs like these Wilsons make golf so much more straightforward. I and those like me can't put in hours on the range to improve, often due to physical limitations. This type of club stops your bad shot being terrible, so are well worth it, especially as they're not expensive either.

Yes. I liked the long video with more golf. When you play Chris on your channel and then his channel, maybe make it 4 holes on each. That makes for a little more viewing for us, and leaves the ninth hole as a potential tie breaker. My wife has a set of Pinseeker Fireball irons and I have a set of TaylorMade Iron Cleeks, which are both hollow irons from the 1980s. Maybe I should take those Iron Cleeks out of the basement and give them a go round at the driving range.

I’ve just got a set of Launch Pad 2 irons 5-SW in regular graphite. My iron play has been shocking and I mainly used a Ping ChipR from 100 metres out and didn’t even carry a 5 iron. Played my first round with the clubs and improved around 8-10 shots on what I have been scoring. Used the wedges for the first time in ages. No thin or fat shots and I hit a beautiful 5 iron to 10 feet as my second on a par 4. I love these clubs already. The funny thing is I have tried hybrids before and hate them. I tend to hit them low and left but these fly high and straight.

Would love to see a Team BEST BALL match between you and Chris vs FOXY and your newly married low handicapper, 9 holes. You and Chris must use the same starter set offered by COSTCO, i.e. Callaway Edge, Slazenger, or Cobra boxed set, that You have already tested. Foxy and teamate will use a BRAND NEW set of MIZUNO or TACOMO clubs, chosen and furnished by James. That would be a FANTASTIC MATCH. Getting back in the game after 15 years and I’m 60 yrs old. At my age I don’t care what people think, I just want to have fun and hit ‘em straight. Can’t afford a top brand. Even the Wilson’s are too much. The MacGregor’s are about half the price but I’m basically a beginner again so I don’t think there would be much difference for a golfer like me.
