Seen a few channels with shed grows. Definitely not cheap but giving yourself a man shed is priceless for the years to come for sure 💯

That depends where you live. If power is cheap or you don't get a lot of sun then a DIY off grid solar grow will not be cheap to be useable for a larger setup. If power is expensive or you get a lot of sun then a off grid setup might be cheap to do it over time

I think when you go with a solar set up do it in a green house or a shed with a clear roof. That way you can also use the sunlight to grow your plants during the day while charging the batteries

You can do better for cheaper, at least based on the research I found, and for when it rains, you can always just eventually get extra batteries to back it up. Usually in the winter it's very gloomy and dark at least here in Canada. You can get a lot of great resources. I would search for instead of "Portable" I'd look for Trailer and or small scale off-grid Solar panels, they aren't the ones that go crazy huge. You could get 500w input panels, you got this. Kudos to you for trying this, I thought about it myself.

Square foot of the solar panels is bigger that the Square foot of the plant ... wasting energy .. just grow outside

It's not indoor anymore, so you cant' control enviroenemtn for perfect crops and you have to grow depending on the season, you don't get the point here

@@surronzak8154 u can control nutrients , and u can use shade clothes .. u can plant near other plants or structures that help control soil temp .. and u get a bigger plant from the sun ..... U can do companion planting so u don't need to add nutrients, or to help with pest control ... U don't need a fan ..... Life is better under the sun

@@surronzak8154 so do half outside half inside and get the best from both worlds. Save all the 20 hour lights on days let the sun do that. And do 8 weeks of 12 hours inside and get enough to last you all year like 1/2 kilo+ p/plant

How about using solar panels for an AC and then getting a glass roof for the light?

To save a ton of money if you seriously get into building a real solar system, you will want to get some LFP (LiFePO4) EVE or CALB or similar cells. You can get 4x 3.2v 105ah (1.3kWh total) for only 160$, or 40$ per cell @ 336wH. Or if you're really looking for some crazy power storage, buy a crate of 60 3.2v 163Ah cells for $3700 and you could store a massive amount of power. For batteries, I would buy regular cells and hook them up to a BMS with active balancing and call it a day. These portable power stations are crap compared to a bare-bones setup. They're nice to move around, but they're just massively more expensive. On the solar panel side, you're better off paying the premium though. If they're mounted on a roof like you're doing here you don't need the bifacial panels or anything, but buying from reputable brands you'll definitely get more watts for your buck. I would stray away from Amazon for solar panels for sure. There's also used panels you can buy a crate of if you want to go the cheap route, for example snail trail panels that have wear on them. They're more economical, but will be more space for less watts. Definitely recommend staying away from those portable solar cells though.

The payback on that is never! your 50watt consumption per hour will take 14,766 hours of operation at 1.2c per kwh to break even or nearly 4 years running 12 hours per day.

Avr 1KWH price in US is $.23 but i agree. Better of saving elsewhere then investing in something that is not reliable or economic

@@surronzak8154how often is your power down for hours at a time? Or even for minutes? If you awnser is often why not have an emergency generator. Why do you want a big battery in your house?

Off topic but bro. Can a 4 inch inline fan be used on the bottom opening of a 3x3 tent to blow cool air in from the room into the tent?
@mfanto1
@mfanto1 10 месяцев назад
Be carefull injecting more air as the extractor fan takes out. As you will start smelling it if the tent gets positive pressure😅

Let's go!!! 5k.. all the way.. 5k of solar, 5k of battery... PS... my viparspectra ks5000 actually runs on 24-54v DC.. so.. if I use a 48v battery with 48v lights.. this would be most efficient!?

I'd love to see a set up to cover atleast 50 plants... how much battery wattage would be necessary to power atleast 3 lights each 200w of energy
@nickspeakstruth133
@nickspeakstruth133 2 месяца назад
Why not just calculate that out? It’s based on kWh. You take whatever your light is (most commercially viable lights are 700+ watts) and you multiply it out to figure out how many kilowatts you’d need per hour. You’d need a generator as backup for night because you need lights running even when dark out for vegetation. Only way to make this practical is to use it explicitly to offset high grid costs and run your main power at night and use h this for the 6 hours of battery during the day you’d need that would’ve been really expensive electric. That’s what I’d do

So what is the KWH of the battery. If you say 1000 watt what does that mean? My HPS lights is a 600 watt fixture, does that mean it will run 1.67 X😂
@mfanto1
@mfanto1 10 месяцев назад
So to give the awnser its 1 KWH. If you want to try this, grow outside and flower inside use grid power save 1000s and a couple dollars in power. Avr cost 1 KWH in the US of A $0.23 800 watt LED light (÷1000=0.8 KWH) 12 hours light on for 8 weeks of flower. (8 x 7 days= 54) .8 x 12 x 54 x .23= €119.23😂 And 650 hours of durabilaty of the lights😂 You want to do that off grid have a 10 KWH battery aka $4500 at least
