In this video I try to fix a broken Nintendo DSi, that doesn't charge. Music: www.bensound.com If you would like to support these videos, please click here steadyhq.com/t...
update, i tested the fuse and it does not seem to work (no continuity), i bought my dsi xl from ebay and it seems they have soldered two wires from the charging port to the black cube thing to the left from the charging port, it has 4 soldering points and it was soldered to the two rightmost ones. btw, sorry i have no experience with electronics, so seemingly obvious things may not be so obvious to me.
In my last video about my pink DSi I found out why it wasn't charging properly and was able to fix it. Maybe you have the same issue. Check also if the battery connector is damaged.
This is an amazing video and I happen to have the exact one with the exact problem, I was also thinking I need a new battery to help turn it on but I’m not sure where to get it?
Sadly no. I have 3 Dsi, of which two have good batteries, so I can change them. For the 3rd I bought now 2 batteries, which were bad. So I still have to find a good 3rd party one.
Do you have a channel to repair Nintendo 2ds? I have a 2ds that gives the charge led but the battery doesn't charge. I measured the 3 pins and noticed differences between another console that charges and one that doesn't
Hey! Nice video, my nintendo Dsi, when charging its flickering really really soft, u barely see it, but it take like 20 hours to charge fully... Do you have any idea what could be? I already ordered a new battery im just waiting to arrive
Mine had two yellow wires from above the port in a crooked fashion, apparently they both snapped and there's only one behind and in my case, the orange light never turns on nor does the system (I've had it since 2010 if I recall right)
@@TheKonsolist I mean, it worked, for like 30 minutes, than stopped working. Now when I plug the charger it shows the orange led for 2 seconds than flickers and disappears. Checked fuse again, it’s ok, the other fuse under the battery and also the em1. All is continuous. I don’t really know what else to check. It’s a Nintendo DSi and it works with the battery charged.
@@TheKonsolist It had a bent pin, Decided to just bend it back, not needed a port changed. It looks good now. I also flowed the 2 pin that connects to the port. Checked and it’s continuous, also checked the voltage and it going in like 5.2v constantly. It’s strange cuz it worked good, now only an orange light that starts flickering (not pulsing like battery issues) and goes off. On the DSi menu it shows the battery icon charing for a second. I have also a spare motherboard for parts. I’m trying my best because it’s my childhood DSi, otherwise I would just buy a new motherboard on Aliexpress. Hope you can help me. Thanks 🙏🏻❤️
@@TheKonsolist little update, today I tested and it charged longer. The orange led was stable for 2/3 minutes than disappeared. At this point I might be positive it’s battery fault. Gonna order one since this one is the same I had when I purchased it. (fun thing it’s still holding charge pretty good). Thank you for you interest anyway, keep it up. ❤️
When I plug in my DSi, the orange light stays on for about a minute or two before turning off again, and I haven’t been able to get it to charge at all so idk if it can still turn on :( is there anything I can do to fix this?
The issue i have is that the orange light turns on for a little bit, then turns off. It registers as charging when plugged in, but no oeange light. Any fix? Btw rhe jne i have is a dsi xl
Maybe the connections to the board are ripped off. Then just solder them back on. In my case the port was OK, although I changed it. On my DSi there was a break somewhere on the board so I had to add an additional ground wire.
So you push the ON button, and the power LED just blinks shortly? If that's the case you have to replace the top screen. I bought a faulty DSi XL with the same problem and will make a video about the fix soon.
I do these repairs just as a hobby. I'm not a professional. So, sorry I don't do repairs for other people. Maybe you find a local repair shop. But thanks for the question.
@@thepug1936 That's a new one for me. On the top of my head I can only think of two things: 1. Both screens are beginning to fade, because of age. The only thing that bothers me with that is, that both screens started to fail at the same time. And 2. Something on the motherboard started to fail (maybe the graphics chip?). That would explain, why both screens failed at the same time. At the moment I have no solution for your problem, but I'm going to look into it, because I think this is a fascinating problem you got there. Maybe I find something. If I do, I'll send you a message. Thank you for watching my channel!!!
