Curious about the banana hack. What exactly does it do?

LA and NYC are totally different type of cities. NYC , everything is packed in like sardines in one giant center in Manhattan. LA is huge and spread out with multiple centers/cores thru out the city/metro area (Downtown LA, Long Beach, Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale, Midcity/Koreatown, Hollywood/West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Westwood, Century City, etc). Because NYC is centralized (packed in togethr), space is a premium. So you pay more for very little space. LA is expensive too, but you get more space for what you pay and if you're lucky, you get yard in the back. Weather-wise, LA offers more outdoor/active/recreational lifestyle. Since NYC often rains and is very humid in the summer, Central Park is the main outdoor space for many NYCers. LA is surrounded by the ocean, mountains and even a desert. So opportunities to enjoy the outdoor in various environs is limitless.
