✧˖° lemon poppyseed tea cake recipe!! ✧˖°

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp lemon zest
1/4 cup poppy seeds
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup plain nonfat yogurt
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup powdered sugar
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Using an electric mixer, beat the butter until light. Gradually add the sugar and beat until light and fluffy, stopping to scrape the bowl from time to time. Add the eggs, one at a time, scraping the bowl after each addition. Mix in the lemon rind, vanilla extract and poppy seeds.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the sifted ingredients alternately with the yogurt and mix just until smooth. Scrape the batter into the pan and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, about 45 minutes**. Whisk together the lemon juice and powdered sugar until smooth, and brush the glaze on top of the warm cake. Let cool in pan for about 5-10 minutes, then turn out onto a plate or cooling rack.
** i only baked mine for 30 minutes, but that's cause my oven runs super hot! bake it until it starts to smell really good and done and then check it!! trust ur nose and ur intuition!
