Trying to Ride the Hardest Bike Trail in Squamish

Treasure Trail is easily the most technical mountain bike trail in Squamish. I've been pretty intimated by giving it a go but luckily BCPOV stopped by to take me down it. I didn't have the confidence to try everything down here for sure, but just trying it for the first time is always the biggest hurdle - hope you enjoy this video!

Thanks again Eric! Would definitely be way easier to fire down this trail in one go instead of spending 3.5 hours filming 😂. Next time I’ll do a classic gopro run on it I think!

I used to ride the most technical trail in my State every other day, with no helmet, jean shorts, and a no-suspension Giant tube bike. It wasn't as fancy as this trail (we didn't have any of those beautiful wood ladderpaths, those are like some sort of Robin Hood tree villa stuff!) but I hit it with my best friend day in and day out and at first we tried to get through without stopping to rest, then without falling, and eventually for speed, blasting past guys with thousand-plus-dollar bikes and race shirts etc. This point of me telling you this isn't to brag, because I'm not bragging - it's to tell you that one of the reasons why we were able to be so damn good at this is because we had absolutely no idea that what we were doing was really hard, or that we totally should have had helmets on (this was when they were just getting popular), or so many other things that I've learned since then. But we had no real fear of the obstacles because we knew how to ride and could either put our bikes in between ourselves and an obstacle or we knew how to jump clear and roll if we absolutely sh*t the bed. Most of the obstacles on the trail you showed looked like they'd be WAY easier if you stopped worrying and just went for them - the hardest bits I saw were the short landings and sharp turns after. Otherwise, just shotgun everything and woo-hooooo all the way down. YOU CAN DO IT, PAUL!

I would recommend only trying this trail when you are having an "on" day. Preferably when it is dry. With a full face helmet. This trail sticks in my mind as it is one of those trails you ride once and maybe never again. I can still remember completing it and how good it felt. There are a few overgrown offshoots on this trail that have gotta be red diamonds. That rooty drop at 6:48 is a mind bender; you just have to bounce down it in the correct fashion. Suspension forks weren't designed with this kind of obstacle.

One of the things I am curious about is have you ever raced competitively aka XC? I was a racer about 18 years ago for 10 years. Life took over and 'serious' jobs. My point is that the majority of XC courses in the UK back in the day had technical sections such as these, and when in competition you have to 100 percent commit or lose places. That gives you the confidence, similar to your other video DH, training which you were singing. Racing XC thinking of the guy behind taking your position is very similar in my humble opinion.

Love this style of video, shows how rowdy some of those features are. You should do one on Pleasure Trail :)

@@southpawlibranine3511 Dear southpawlibra nine, In my haste, I may have spelled some things incorrectly. At the time, I did not realize that people's feelings could be hurt by my grotesque online behaviour. I now understand that my actions have consequences. I want you to know that I hear you southpaw (Can I call you southpaw?). Your feelings are justified and you have a right to feel what you are feeling. My deepest apologies Southpaw. I really do care.

Take it for whats its worth but I highly suggest a full face helmet and some form of spine protection. You may be very surprised high easly your back can fracture. Yes I learned the hard way. Great video, have fun, be safe. Remember you can never have to much PP.

To be it seems surprising they aren't using any protection pads. You're knees and elbows can take one hell of a hit when covered in protection

I feel like this whole video was just a 3rd person view of how good BCPov is, while showcasing how scary these trails are to a new rider @_@

Oh dear, this place is frightening. Frighteningly awesome :) Got sweaty palms just from watching it, and video never translates well just how steep something is. Wonder if people try this on a hardtail. I'd love to see that :)

Is it just me, or were they both better riders or more confident before they were sponsored

I am not sure if this has been suggested before, but I will take full credit for it if it comes to pass :) Why not film in 3d where the viewer has to wear 3d glasses for some parts of the video. I am sure that will give a better perspective of some of these drops and rock rolls. POV will really be scary and Red Bull Rampage would surely give the viewer the shakes.
