Hello dear friend, I live in Morocco, and there are many homeless cats and kittens on the street around me. I feed stray cats every day and try to help them as much as I can. I'm sorry to say but I think that cat was abandoned while pregnant and wanted a new home for her kittens after giving birth. Her behavior suggests this.

From the moment she tucked her tail in I felt an overwhelming since of calm! I think she was showing you affection that her babies were being saved & the moment you picked her up she seemed afraid to go in the crate yet when you put her in… it’s like she let go of being a protective mom and knew she was safe to just care.
