The drone footage was stunning, with the long shadows, velvet undulating pastures, beautiful sheep and lambs, and our hero speeding through it all in the buggy. Love seeing the whole family out in the sunshine. Your friend must have had an awesome day. Get some sleep while you can. Those ewes are going to start pushing any day now! Love you all.❤
Hey, Al Cousins! A few months ago I bought your sheep breeds poster from The Sheep Game. It was exciting to anticipate its travel from Scotland to my home in California, and I thought that would be the big treat. I was wrong. The poster was so beautifully and safely packed in its very strong tube. I was impressed. Then…then…I opened it and unfurled the roll. My fingers tingled with glee at the feel of that premium paper. My eyes danced at the gorgeous colors and the fine printing. And the artwork itself was absolutely delightful. I would never have thought a collection of breed drawings could be such a wonderful experience. But it is. You know how to create something of exceptional quality and whimsy. I’m such a fan now that I’m thinking of buying Meg’s portrait next. And, I’ve got my eye on a couple other pieces on your website. Good job hooking up with Al, Cammy. Thanks guys! ❤
I always love your videos! So glad that you are having some beautiful weather. The drone footage, along with the music, was amazing! Thank you for sharing what you do.
Your landscape is so nice. It’s like here in Vermont, USA. I use to be full of farms. There still are but not as many as when I was a kid and young adult. How is Jock after his operation. He’s quite spry running and jumping around. He says he has new shoes. He’s so cute. Angus will be talking away soon as well. Jock is helping. Such a nice day to all the family being out together❤️🥰👍. That’s quite the equipment you and your friend put together. Such a lovely view from the sky of your sheep and views🥰👍 you have a nice evening. And we ll see you next time👍👋
Oh the drone footage was just amazing! So nice to see Lizzie and the boys! Everyday I wait to see what the day brings in your daily routine. Rest and sleep when you can! 😊
Do you think because of the extreme wet weather..that it could be a reason for the lameness? Another fine video Cammy!! Lizzy is looking radiant, what a great mom she is!! Bet you can't wait for the new baby!! The boys need a little sister to take care of!!
Nothings better than the blind leading the blind when assessing something without reading instructions!! But, let you off as those drone shots at the end were suberb.
@@maranaomi9531 what is wrong with them? Do they like things to be more difficult than necessary. Also, Jock throwing that ratchet nut driver was epic toddler on brand.
Our son in Arizona, USA is married to wonderful Navajo woman. Now that she is retired, and he has his own business doing civil engineering , they live full time on the reservation. He built them a nice home on property that was inherited from her mom. They have sheep, cattle, chickens and horses. Very small scale. I have got him started watching you, and he enjoys seeing your ewes lambing. His ewes just finished lambing. So a big hello from California and Arizona!
Nice to see Al again. Hi, Al! Great job on the drone footage edit. Touching the electric fence is definitely a right of passage for every rural kid. I know I did it. Lol i thought you already had a lamb slide - Not sure what you call that thing. Oh, it's called a lamb docking and tailing chute (I checked the Te Pari website).
Cammy didn't you have one of them things that you built for the lambs last year? As I'm sure I've seen this before was a bit of déjà vu! Thank you for the daily vlog I have really enjoy them, but can imagine it's been a bit stressful with everything else you have to do! Lizzy is big now isn't she, I bet she can't wait to give birth as the last month or 2 feels like it drags, wish you both so much luck, much love ❤😊
Loved the drone footage, it also shows how muddy the ground is from so much rain. Glad its drying up a bit. Hi to Lizzie, n the boys growing like weeds.
A boy Cammy another good video 👍. Some people won't pare a lame foot, just spray & inject. I know people who believe you need to cull lame sheep. Growing up on my fathers farm we always pared, spray, inject. Each to their own I suppose. I was waiting for Jock to get a shock off the fence 😂. He's hardy out, it probably wouldn't bother him if he did.
Lovely editing this video of scenic shoots. In Australia the land is high in Iron but low in Zinc and Copper which compete for absorption in the gut. So our pasture is deficient, along with low iodine, selenium and sometimes cobalt you get poor hoof horn and coat development. Supplementation with appropriate minerals based on pasture testing (importantly not the soil because they don't eat soil) is the best way to keep horses and cattle in fine fettle (and I presume sheep).
🤣🤣🤣...love that first ewe...."Successful sneak attack"....ewe: "Ya mad bastard!" (Attempted boot to the jaw) I'm waiting for your imitation of a rugby player tackling an opponent, complete with grunts and such, when catching a sheep! 😂😂😂
Lack of manganese in the feed, sodium iodate, zinc and extra manganese in the minerals help to prevent foot rot. Putting hydrated lime in gateways and areas they water in will help get rid of the bacteria that causes foot rot too
The roller is what they use in Australia and NZ looks strange but it really works well and lambs get a smooth ride and makes it simple for you as Shepherds to tag and tail
Yes I do believe that the PH balance in the soil effects the sheep in meany ways not just their feet. They do eat the grass from the soil so it is a higher PH as well
Re. the lame sheep - I suspect bacteria or even a fungus. When did it get so wet? It was raining really hard when I started watching you. Do the hooves overgrow when the land is so soft? Yep, that hoof looks like it needs trimming (Sandi Brock fanatic) The other question is could there be something infectious left in the field from the deer?💕💕
7:45 have any cows ever been on that piece of property? Also, could anyone have used metacam on their sheep before market, like some nefarious horse owners do (with other types of pain meds)?
QUESTION: Dont you already have one of those lamb shoot things? You got it from Tupari i believe! (sorry about spelling lol) But you only showed us you using it only a couple times then i never saw you use it again! What happen to that one? How come you get another one? As usual thanks for sharing Cam!! 😊😊
This is their new upgraded one. I only use it to multi treat the lambs when they are small. Then we use the te pari clamp when they get bigger. So i’ll only use it for a couple weeks in May when we start dosing 👍
im quite sure ph can have an effect especially when its been so wet, however you havent told us what the lameness is cammy! scald, footrot, codd or even something mechanical from bad clipping, my first question would be were these ewes culled from frequent issues with their last owner or had there been a bad flock outbreak prior to them going to the sales barn next i would be taking swabs to see what i was dealing with, all this im sure youre doing, but i would think the ph would only be aggravating an under lying problem not causing it.
I'd think the fact that you've had such wet weather has a lot to do with the lameness. And also, the increase in bacteria growth in the soil due to the wet could be causing the joint ill in lambs.
I read that if sheep go onto land that cattle have been grazed on, they can have lots of problems! Maybe worse because of the wet conditions this year, having said that, I am not a shepherd!
Just came over from the Hoof GP; any change your sheep are affected by ovine digital dermatitis? I did some googling, and apparently it's a thing now. It would explain many sheep being affected and it being tied to the ground they are on (and I remember in an earlier video you said some of your ground had had dairy cows on it).
Isn't it dangerous to ride a 4-wheeler side saddle like that? Those things can flip you off in a second riding in normally. I'd think side saddle would be worse. No complaints, just curious!
That is the problem when you say it happens I was helping my mum and ad on the farm I said to my mum I never seen a lambing time without a triplet it was time for my mum and dad to go out for the night round, and she came into the house and said that my dad had brought in a triplet so ever since I never say quiet or when they don't get a triplet so. But I really do love watching your videos I was down on the farm in march just before they started and they started so I got the chance to help out which is good
Something to do with the eternally wet spring with their feet constantly in the wet. We brought a mountain animal down to the lowlands. Their feet like well drained ground.
