The Gusto Pufuleti are made of expanded maize. And Rom Cel Dublu(aka Rum the double cause it's two of them in one pachage aka XL size) actually has 1.94% alcohol.
pufuleti are basically a corn meal in puff form. if you're bored you can lick the edges of the puffs and stick them together to make a stick figure :))
"Covrigi" means pretzels in romanian. The little pretzels that smell like olives are pretzels with olive oil and red wine added in their composition. They are very tasty with beer.
It's just the flavour of rum, stop making these claims, people outside must imagine we're drunks or something, lol. The rum chocolate, for example, contains only 1% alcohol, which is a very very small percent. The rest of it is just essence of rum.
Writing as I watch: The pronunciation of words and letters in general in Romania is very phonetic, like, a mix of Russian and Italian. Halva is a mix of sunflower seed butter, cocoa and sugar and it's sometimes eaten with toast during breakfast or plain as a snack. That's why it has the weird aftertaste. It's either you love it or you hate it. Gusto puffs are made out of cornmeal and the best moment is when you find the greasiest and saltiest in the entire bag. Pom-Băr are snacks made out of potato, more similar to Pringles rather than classic potato chips. Cornulețe are like small croissants, literally Cornulețe is the Romanian for "Little Croissants" and usually grandmas make those with fresh jam from that year's fruit harvest. Joe waffers are the best you can get around here, also, 2buc (2 bucăți) is the Romanian for 2pcs (pieces) Gran Papa are just pretzels made with olive oil instead of sunflower or palm, they add a dash of wine when they make them and they're really good when you're drinking. Lotto Peanuts are just like cheesy puffs but they taste of peanuts instead of cheese instead, but you already knew that. "Pretzels cu tărâțe" are just wheat and oatmeal pretzels but you already understood that. Yes, they are amazing in Hummus. But they also are amazing when dipped in Nutella (that's my personal opinion tho) The gummies you ate, I swear I haven't seen in my entire life, and I've been in Romania since I was born :)) (and I'm 20) "Rom cel dublu" is basically a double-sized ROM bar. "Cel dublu" means "The double" But overall, I really enjoyed watching you trying sweets from my country, our snacks rarely get the recognition they deserve. *P.S When you see the "ă" character, read it as an "a" but the way you read it when you say "a book, a pen", the exact sound is spelled as "ă" in Romanian
Because they're not used to it, it was the first time they ever tasted that. I didn't like rum chocolate when I was little either, only when I grew up, lol.
Halva is the romanian version of a middle eastern sweet called Halawa that is made with sesame seeds. But in romania it is made with senflower seeds after most of the oil is extracted from them. So after the seeds are used by the sunflower oil industry(sunflower oil is the most common in Romania) the remains are chopped and fried and transformed in Halva. The result is a very tasty and healthy dessert that contains a lot of natural sugar and fibers. Vanilla and cocoa are added in some variants. Nuts, peanuts and dry raisins can also be added in some more fancy types of this product. Many romanians remember Halva as an childhood sweet and are enjoy it till now.
Sorry but the Halva is anything but healthy! Tasty, yes, sure, but not healthy! Plus a ton of proteins from the sunflower leftovers after oil extraction!
Halva is a very healthy food for kids cause it contains a lot of fibers and proteins left after the oil is extracted. During comunist times they didnt add any sugar so it was even more healthy containing only natural sugar from the sunflower seeds. Now all the manufacturers add sugar to the halva so is not as healthy as it was in the past but still it has a very good nutritional content.
In Chicago, where there are literally thousands of European food markets, you'll find Gusto Puffs easily. I got 4 bags for $5 once. Incredible, just as your reaction conveyed it. They are the only puffs I eat, I stopped buying the American brands. Even better than Pirate Booty.
@@firefighternumber9277 Yeah, it's out of control in certain parts of the city. Carjackings especially are at an all time high. There isn't enough manpower to handle all the cases. It's a city in decline, just as the state itself. Personally, I don't see myself here another 5 years realistically speaking.

I really like these taste testing videos I was a army brat and i have to say German food is my all time favorite and I have been to a lot places I actually lived in Germany for a total of 9 years we did three 3 year tours there and while living there we traveled all over Europe and yes what you said about European chocolate is really true they do have the best chocolate over there

Hi, the ROM chocolate bar you tried has it's strong rum taste from a bakery ingridient used in Romania called "rum essence". It doesn't contain any alcohol, but it has a really strong rum taste (a few drops can flavour a lot, like a whole croissant). I had some fun watching you guys. Cheers !
Not sure if u re actually going to see that anymore, but, Eugenia is actually one of the cheapest treats in our country, having a price starting at 3 cents depeding on the quality, halva is made out of sunfloweer seeds and IT,s better served with bread because it is very oily. Both of them are actually treats that were largely consumed when Romania was a comunnist country, because they were cheap and easy to be made, but nowadays they arent so popular anymore.
Halva is a very old sweet, very popular in the comunist era. The main ingredient are sunflower seeds. In Romania I used to eat it with bread or toast, or by itself next to a black coffe. Regarding the weight you are not supposed to eat it at once, keep it in the fridge until finish. I just discovered your channel and I'm obsessed 👍👍👍👍

I mean, it's called "rum", it better have enough of it 😂 The thing is, our mothers and grandmothers used to put rum essence in desserts when we were little, so the taste reminds us of our childhood.

Haha, for when you discovered the Pufuleți/Gusto(Gusto is the brand), think about this: They are not at all for everybody, but only for connaisseurs. I mean you have to get one after another to really know what pufuleți are, because they are ellusive to strangers, since no artificial flavour at all, but just corn flour and salt, but as a romanian, you will get it in an instant and I dont know if u got it,, but surprisingly, you kinda liked them, the famous/infamous pufulețși LOL Anyway, they are like the popcorn in the movie theatres, but they taste better, especially if u eat one after the other and the other and so on. Haha ;)
