Trying Weird Japanese Potato Chip Flavors (Weird Japanese Snacks)

Looks like fun trying the amazing variety of Japanese snacks. They are certainly creative and it would be fun talking with the new-products staff at those companies to hear how they come up with these incredible ideas. Personally, I like the Japanese rice crackers (osenbei), maybe some shrimp-flavored snacks, and maybe even a few wasabi flavored snacks. I once tried a really spicy osenbei in Kamakura that would knock your socks off. Other than that, I mostly stick with sourdough pretzels and simple microwave popcorn (oil and sea salt only) and some mixed nuts for snacks.

The spicy chicken one looks like BBQ chips. My fav . Again, I love your food sampling videos.

Not sure about the chip flavors but could you do a video on the different Kit Kat flavors? The chip flavors definitely look interesting though. Your ratings seemed fairly reasonable. The reaction to the third one made me think you would rate it higher, but I’m glad you didn’t. Although from what I understand of Japanese shows a 8 out of 10 would probably be the lowest rating and there would be lots of, “Oooooh that’s amazing!!!” So refreshingly reserved for someone’s rating Japanese snacks. 😁

This is going to be a little long winded. KTSF, channel 26 in San Francisco, used to have Japanese shows on Saturday and Sunday evenings with English subtitles. There was one short-lived show that was based on a company that would come up with pretty crazy ideas for snacks and such. As you were eating those potato chips, I remembered that show. It was probably around 30 years ago so I can't remember the name of it BTW, there was also a show called Churasan that was about a young Okinawan woman and her family. I believe that show was very popular even on mainland Japan. They even had a charm or token shaped like a bitter melon called Goya Man. Don't they still sell those things in Okinawa?
