Me too 😂 but it's actually pronounced Reece or something like that , I'm stuck with rice sooo..... I'm keeping rice😂 I even used to thought that the "trylle" was pronounced "trial" 😂 idk why....
I don't intend to be rude (although I'm quite conscious about the possibility, that my comment will be perceived as such by a lot of readers), but I have to admit I didn't enjoy this trilogy that much. Therefore I hope it won't get turned into a series or a movie. And this is my honest opinion to why: Though it introduced some interesting story ideas (e.g. the subject of changelings and wendy's human mother wanting to kill her), plot-wise it was rather weak and unoriginal. The story itself seemed to meander around a lot, not reaaally progressing while at the same time changing pretty quick, rushing from one action (plot-point) to another and one place to the next in the matter of a few pages. Moreover focusing a great deal on the love story, while showing rather poor world-building (the surroundings, buildings, places were scarcely described/ mentioned + flat) in general. For the most part it kind of felt like many other YA books (Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa, Wings by Aprilynne Pike, Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini and soo many more (maybe a bit of twilight and mortal instruments too)). You could just exchange Trylle with the elves, fairies, fey, vampires... of these books, they show the same characteristics. Namely beautiful, misunderstood, magical creatures from another world hidden in ours with strict and ancient rules so to not be discovered... . For all it's worth the love-triangle and the characterization of Wendy bothered me the most. Feelings between Fynn and Wendy kicked- off waaay too fast at the beginning, like almost instantly they fall in love for each other, and Wendy seems to be our typical unknowingly beautiful, desired ("not like other girls") main protagonist trope with unimaginable great hidden powers , destined to unify the people. It's not a bad topic, just one that has been explored too excessively. On the other hand I have to admit it was kind of surprising she didn't end up with her first love. Props to you Amanda Hocking for this surprise. The story isn't the worst by far. I have to give credit to the author for coming up with an idea at all, writing it down and actually publishing it. Nevertheless It wasted a lot of potential, which, if further fleshed out and explored, would have created an interesting, original book. So I'd like to finish this review by giving my sincerest wishes to Amanda Hocking for improving her fantasy worlds and shaping/ perfecting her skills/potential/ fantasy worlds so one day we will get a really great and original story from her, like nothing we have ever read before. I hope this will be seen as a constructive critical opinion, not an insult or as if I try to shit on Amanda Hockings work.
