Yes that's the old school method! And may be more accurate but I think the way I mark is a little bit quicker. That way you save all the tape measurements on each individual pin and most of the time is precious= the job has to be done quickly.

@@gavra1l not a problem pal. I have recently faced an issue with resection. Depending on the position of the total station the grids which I was staking out had slightly different positions. It's probably because the primary points have poor quality and there weren't coordinates averaging between them. I'd like to get your opinion on what you usually do in this situation.

Hello buddy, In your particular case when you are marking grid lines and the resection is poor that can give you slightly different positions. I would do that way- First - find a place where you can see, if possible all targets. Then set up the instrument with all that you can see. Second- Create new control folder and record/measure all targets again. Then any resection difference should be gone!!! I hope that will help.
